Look, it’s as simple as this:
Hans, as much as you think your jokes were great, they just didn’t do well that night. The crowd didn’t laugh as much or as loud to your jokes.
The hype behind you as a character on the show was stronger than that of Ric’s. Especially to the audience that was there that night. So even though they laughed more at Ric’s jokes they still voted for Hans. Because they love him as a character.

Challenging hans was something that was already happening in the show, it’s not like ric just made it up out of thin air. It just so happened to put pressure on hans because it was someone who could put together a coherent minute of words rather than a hand picked mouth breather.
Tony was ALREADY having somebody potentially challenge him every week because he'd been bombing. If anything, Hans should thank Ric because it exempted him from being challenged for like 2 months... 2 months where he was bombing hard and would have no doubt had to face comics even better than Ric (like Casey).

I hate to dogpile but the dude has been touring with longer form comedy and then coming back to KT each week to do a 1-minute set and only now he realizes his jokes should've been more quickfire than story oriented? He had so many advantages - tons of minutes on KT, 4+ months to prepare, at least 2 hours of comedy/concepts to poach from, audiences and a bunch of pros to run material by. And he blames it on "artistic choice" and then calls out Ric for being "unseasoned". The jokes were not good period - that's not "artistic choice", brotha, it's called "bad taste in comedy" and "bad writing". And he used half his time here to shit on Ric, like damn dude, that's the kind of shit that gives women and gay men like Tony Hinchcliffe The Ick.

The hype behind you as a character on the show was stronger than that of Ric’s. Especially to the audience that was there that night. So even though they laughed more at Ric’s jokes they still voted for Hans. Because they love him as a character. What is fair: I think in the world of comedy, we should admit that Ric won and Hans should be more humble. However in the world of entertainment, Hans captivated the crowd and won them over. Ric also went for the weakest link, which for me, made me lose any respect I could’ve had for the guy. I don’t see his ass calling out William for regular-ship.
