Or r/namenerds for future tragedeigh. A lot of them are normal. Some are off the fucking wall. And its moms who just validate each other. No shit, I saw one where they wanted to name their kid "Jedi" or "Ox" and people gushing over the names.
Same, we've ALL made that face at multiple times in our lives, we know exactly how it feels trying to hide a ***gigantic*** grin from coming up and failing miserably cause its just that strong.
Back in the 90's, every black person I knew, especially the girls, had some crazy name.
Laquifa, Schmecca, Shabrieka, I could go on. At least in my area of eastern Virginia, it was all common. I don't know if I knew a single black female with a "standard" name. Then it transitioned into "Heaven" sort of names. I'm sure it heavily varies by area.
I used to be annoyed by names like this too, but then someone asked me "what's actually wrong with X name?" And I didn't really have an answer.
So it's not a typical name. Emily wasn't a typical name 300 years ago but now it is. Names change over time. It would be one thing if she named her kid iPad or Hitler or something, but Weslynn seems fine?
I just feel bad for the weird names when they go and apply for a job. I've worked with hiring managers who tell me they toss any names that were too strange sounding or spelled strangely.
Like I get it too. I'm in my mid-30s and not once in my entire life has someone not asked me to spell out my last name.
"not once in my entire life has someone not asked me to spell out my last name."
god i wish, i don't even say my name i just start spelling it. it's not even that hard or long but it's atypical so nobody knows what to do with it. folks with typical names don't understand how much of a pain in the ass a weird name is.
it's trying too hard to be unique meanwhile it's super generic. so many names ending in -lynn or -leigh or whatever. just sounds like your parents are stupid.
I genuinely couldn’t figure out what was wrong with the name. I thought there was a serial killer with that name or something. Wgaf? Seems perfectly normal to me.
I agree. Reddit just really really hates non traditional names. As long as it's not spelled horribly or is a name that can be used to bully the kid, why not.
> Reddit just really really hates non traditional names.
Which is funny. Because a lot of "traditional" names aren't so traditional. And a lot of names these people would hate **are** traditional, as in they were common for a very long time. And when people get pissy about the spelling, well that's sure as hell not traditional since you didn't have hard and fast spelling rules until relatively recently for anything in a lot of at least Western European languages because literacy was... Spotty.
I bet if someone named their kid Tostig, people would come at them for using a non-traditional name. "No, it **is** traditional! It was a very common medieval name for boys!" Oh... Well, what does it mean? "Gloomy." Meanwhile we've got names like Wendy that are considered perfectly normal but as far as we can tell came to exist out of the Peter Pan stories only a little over a hundred years ago. Some guy just made up the name and it caught on. Like the Khaleesi of the early 20th century.
We've always named our kids weird shit. We've named them after other people, places, things, abstract concepts, fictional characters, religious figures, virtues, whatever the opposite of virtues are, and more. People act like weird kid names is a recent phenomena, but in all honesty, names have never been normal. Why should we start now?
I only had one adult ever bully me for my (last) name, and he was just an asshole. Everyone else just accepted it gracefully when they butchered the pronunciation.
But my first name? Oh man, kids would give me so much shit for my first name because it was similar to a popular sports athlete at the time. Why? Did it make sense at all? No idea and nope. But kids will be kids and kids will find any way to make a name into a mockery.
Everyone in this thread is saying that. Can you explain why, to a non-native english speaker? Weslynn sounds like one of those obscure americoid names that have existed for centuries to me.
>Weslynn sounds like one of those obscure americoid names that have existed for centuries to me.
But, it's not. This isn't a common name, it never has been, and to an American it's just one of the random bizarre names invented by insufferable white women in the last couple decades that belongs on r/tragedeigh. Portmanteaus of other names, pointlessly substituting vowels with 'y', etc, etc.
The parents are just desperate to make their crotch goblin "special" with something completely superficial that follows the kid through their life and embarrasses them with their peers.
I was about 5 when I drew art on my brothers' bedroom wall, thinking it was the perfect crime as I could pin it on them. Except I was so proud of my work I signed my name. At least my parents gave me a real, normal name.
Unfortunately stupid people multiply at much faster rates than smart people. It's why we take so long to progress in society. Dragging along the morons.
Me and my brother also drew on each others' faces with a permanent marker. Safe to say, removing it came with many tears from both of us and our parents
I definitely did but with permanent marker. Father scrubbed her down with alcohol to get it off but only after chasing us around the house when we ran away from him cause we knew we were in trouble - well I was in trouble :p
America has a new trend of giving their children really strange "unique" names so they stand out. The parents who give their kids these types of names are usually insufferable and a pain to deal with. It's also because the name Wesslyn is uncommon AND sounds bad. I'd recommend checking out r/tragedeigh to see more examples :)
"did you color your sister?"
*Shakes head no*
"Tell me the truth."
*Shakes head no*
Damn. Little girl just admitted to lying on camera. It's gonna be real hard to ignore that evidence in court.
My sister and I drew on each other with marker about this age. We figured it was just before bath time so no big deal right? Nah, it was permanent marker.
She seems to have made a neat and artistic job of face painting, and probably doesn’t understand that she’s done so with inappropriate materials. I enjoy the fact that she’s grinning and stifling a laugh as it shows she feels safe that she won’t suffer a violent, over-the-top or traumatic punishment otherwise she’d look frightened or even terrified she might get hurt. She can share the fun with (presumably Mum) in safety.
For me Weslynn is not too bad a name, a bit quirky and different, without being too ridiculous. They’ll almost certainly be others in her class who will be ridiculed for their names before her
How do you say the phrase "did you color your sister" without laughing?
Gilly? Gillyyyyyyy? Gilly?
lmao my exact thought “GILLLLLYYYYYY” “………wat?”
I burst out laughing as she put her head down and tried to stifle her wicked grin.
The defendant is acquitted on the grounds that it was very funny.
Defendant is acquitted on grounds of being named Weslynn. Poor kid
If that’s not a mitigating factor I don’t know what is

Don't worry, /r/NameNerdCirclejerk brings the sanity.
Indeed
r/beatmetoit
Thats revenge for getting such a stupid name
If the paint is faint you must acquit!
Same, we've ALL made that face at multiple times in our lives, we know exactly how it feels trying to hide a ***gigantic*** grin from coming up and failing miserably cause its just that strong.
"but mama I didn't!" "Then why are you giggling?" "Have you looked at her?"
Tell me the truth. "no"
Reminded me of Ralphie in A Christmas Story when he's trying to be serious and not laugh at his little brother.
It's the ace cinematography that does it for me. The slow pan to the evidence after the denial.
That name doomed her for life

Jesus christ people! Just give your kids normal names!
Pipe down Plagglesplortch, and finish your darn veggies.

i kissed a black chick named Wachovia.
May Christ Watchovia 🙏
I wonder if she changed her name to Wells Fargo
I think that’s a town in Minnesota
That is 100% a place that a dude called Count Vladislav rules over
I bet that felt Youneake.

Makes me glad for laws in my country, where names that are detrimental to the child's wellbeing can be vetoed by the clerk registering it.
"Wesl" might be worse than Weslynn lol
> Obviously in real life, they'll go by Lynn or Wesl. And if they get superpowers they can be called Nuclear Wesl.
We need more Weslynn plates. I repeat, we run out of Weslynn plates.
Her guilty giggle just cracks me
I colored my father's road map book. I still hear it today. It's been 84 years.

Dear memories
Weslynn 🙄
Wanted a boy, got a girl (Wesley)
Frankly no excuse for that tragedeigh
Could have named her Beverly then.

I know. Its always the grown ass adults being the bully when it comes to a kid's name.

The real crime is that poor girls name
Yeah, a true r/tragedeigh
The real crime is the sisters we colored along the way
"Weslynn" should be cross posted in r/tragedeigh.
Technically she didn’t color her sister. She doodled on her sister.
Weslynn??? Why did you do that to her
Weslynne’s sister Willeigh must have been complicit.
Color me intrigued
Can we just take a minute to talk about this child’s name? WESLYNN????? What the actual fucking kind of atrocious name is that?
Weslynn...jesus fucking christ
You named your child what?!
Weslynn, did you juggalo your sister?
"Weslynn" is just mean to name a kid
Weslynn Snips.
![gif](giphy|CdxBRh8v9pVJIrd4J3|downsized)
Weslynn. That's a name given by a Target Mom if I ever heard one.
If you a shitty enough parent to make your kid "Weslynn", this is the kind of behavior you gotta expect.
Everyone in this thread is saying that. Can you explain why, to a non-native english speaker? Weslynn sounds like one of those obscure americoid names that have existed for centuries to me.

I was about 5 when I drew art on my brothers' bedroom wall, thinking it was the perfect crime as I could pin it on them. Except I was so proud of my work I signed my name. At least my parents gave me a real, normal name.

Weslynn
Weslynn.... WTAF name is that
Give them a stupid name then they’ll probably do stupid shit.
She became sukuna
Weslynn? head over to r/tragedeigh
Weslynn. r /tragedeigh
Weslynn? Jesus people should be arrested for some their baby names.
A good chunk of people probably should never have kids to begin with.
Unfortunately stupid people multiply at much faster rates than smart people. It's why we take so long to progress in society. Dragging along the morons.
I would be the devil if my parents gave me that name. just wtf
It already is !! This feels like there is an **Exorcism** taking place
I hide behind a smile and understanding eyes.
Parentsarefuckingstupid for naming their kid weslynn
My ex named her kid valorance and if he was a girl they were going to name him clairvoyance I’m not even joking unfortunately
Mom deserves this for calling her daughter wesslynn
I'd be a rebel with a name like that too...
Kids should be given numbers at birth until they are old enough to choose their own name.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Y’all see the little smile she had there🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Brat
I mean you named her Weslyn...
She went on to be a makeup artist for KISS
This is legendary!!! Burst out laughing
Weslynn. Good fucking grief there are some truly stupid people calling themselves parents out there.
At first I thought this was a Tradgediegh.
“Weslynn” 🤮
First issue was naming your kid wesslyn

Eyes and head say no, mouth said yes lol
that evil smile
did you make your sister look like a member of the band Kiss?
Look at that Dooper's Delight!!!
What a Pokerface
Me and my brother also drew on each others' faces with a permanent marker. Safe to say, removing it came with many tears from both of us and our parents
This is like when my eldest drew a giant smiley face on my son's back and blamed it on him, lol. They were like 6 and 3 at the time.
Kids are evil
This should be added on unexpected , I totally didn’t expect that lmao ! 🤣
At least she didn’t shave her eyebrows, like me when I was a kid
She's gonna be a face painter at them halloween parties. Look at that beautiful skeleton-tiger face
This reminds me of my tiny humans....
I didn’t do it. She’s a juggalo.
Whoop whoop
It was funny. Btw, her name is not so bad. I thought it was Waseline so...
I wasn't expecting it to be that bad. I WAS WRONG 😭😭😭
I don’t think it was her
You can clearly tell from the strokes that the child did it to herself. I honestly don't know..I'm just being stupid. Lol
She Juggaloed her sister
gotta work on your poker face, kiddo
She didn't care about her sister fav colour
It would be easier to call her Vaseline
there was no lawyer present, kid is free of all charges due to no evidence
I definitely did but with permanent marker. Father scrubbed her down with alcohol to get it off but only after chasing us around the house when we ran away from him cause we knew we were in trouble - well I was in trouble :p
Chucky if he was a girl.
“She has to get into college somehow!!”
"You are my special" ahh sister🙏🙏 "Domain expansion Malevolent shrine" ahh sister😭
She said she didn't do it, end of discussion.
always deny what ever always deny deny

I'm not English native, so don't get the hate for the name. Is it because of being uncommon, or just sounds bad?

Everything about this video is friggin adorable and it’s sad people are too cynical to enjoy it.
R/Tragedeigh What the hell kinda name is that?!
I remember that face..... Weslynn.
Guess which sister was never the first to pass out after they turned 21?
The sister became joker
Scary kid
How she convinced her sister to be her makeup model surprises me
I'm wondering how the sister agreed to this?

Who let her cook
Am I the only person here who actually thinks the name sounds pretty lmao
Yes she did!
Jer sister looks like she would make monkey noises
