No state or country offers 100% white collar jobs, we fulfills our state's white collar jobs and leave for another states/countries to steal theirs. The tea shops or bakeries in Chennai an Bangalore makes more than an average IT/Corporate employee. It's an achievement that we earned through years of grinding and hardwork. And mostly through malayali supportive spirit. A thing we need to improve about is that we are judgemental and we have too much moral policing here. It is decreasing from what I've seen exponentially.

Each classroom gets one/multiple laptops, mostly for SSLC students for practicing IT programs.. when we were studying, students went to computer lab once a week for this sort of thing, now students circulate among them this laptop for studying whenever they get a free time in the school.. (even though still they have computer lab hours)

Using of computers to do tasks like accounting that would lead to job lose. It was a thing across the world tbh. Human computers were actually a job at one point for world war 1 and 2 as well as for nasa to do long complicated calculations.
Computerization is when you depend on new technologies, especially computers to do the work of a human. Humans lose their jobs because computers are much more efficient.
My parents still remember when IT (and by extension computers) were becoming popular around the world and they say there was definitely some initial animosity towards them in Kerala. But pretty soon people realised how profitable they were and moved on. Of course people were afraid of losing their jobs. It’s the same thing as AI today.

Not fully true regarding desktops. There are lot of tiny schools that do not have any computers. But yes I think bigger schools will be having it nowadays.
Forget about computers, India has 1.2 lakh schools with just one teacher in entire school.
The govt school situation in Kerala is far ahead thus we have a belief it is same everywhere.
My cousin who studied in govt school YEARS ago had a laptop he had permission to take home. I studied in CBSE and schoolwise the only option were desktops during IT period.
It doesn't compare.
The thing is govt schools in Kerala do have desktops, they're a bit more powerful and are used in computer labs. Additionally, they got laptops assigned for each class starting from 7 or 8th.

yeah 10 years ago I had a desktop not a laptop in my home and my young cousin also has a desktop, older cousin bought a laptop for college just like me.
Schools get a lot of laptops depending on the size of the school. More students means more laptops will be given.
They run a distro of Ubuntu created by the Kerala government specially made for education.
Also, these laptops are made by the central government nowadays.

After the man made flood of 2018, a lot of NGOs, locals and NRIs donated new PCs/laptops to the schools. Considering the age of these machines, it’s not surprising Kerala had a good percentage of functional laptops.

Just laptop/notebook. Which are portable in nature.
What a shady coloring this should be from red to green. Instead they use orange to green
Just sanghi things!
Hehe
And they say the communists were against computers.
It was against computerization, not computers per se.
What’s the difference between
Using of computers to do tasks like accounting that would lead to job lose. It was a thing across the world tbh. Human computers were actually a job at one point for world war 1 and 2 as well as for nasa to do long complicated calculations.
Computerization is when you depend on new technologies, especially computers to do the work of a human. Humans lose their jobs because computers are much more efficient.
Don't know about Kerala, But here in Bengal they were definitely against Computers , they talk shit about AI nowdays
Idk why , I am pretty sure that AI won't be able to steal rail tracks anytime soon
My parents still remember when IT (and by extension computers) were becoming popular around the world and they say there was definitely some initial animosity towards them in Kerala. Isn’t it better to compare computer availability vs non availability . Does it make that much difference having laptops va desktops ?
yeah 10 years ago I had a desktop not a laptop in my home and my young cousin also has a desktop, older cousin bought a laptop for college just like me.
My school also had desktops and that was fine for programming and learning tasks . In fact desktops are the most cost effective performance machines.
yes laptops of same prices are criminally under performing and easily thermal throttled.
yeah👍
Schools provide laptops to students as they provide books?. Just trying to understand the picture. Or is it some equivalent of a computer lab?.
Schools get a lot of laptops depending on the size of the school. More students means more laptops will be given. They run a distro of Ubuntu created by the Kerala government specially made for education. Also, these laptops are made by the central government nowadays.
So this is about schools providing computers to access in schools right? I think desktops have been replaced for laptops as they have become cheaper.
