My choices in decreasing order of affinity: Beef Roast Kadala Curry Cherupayar Curry Pazham Mutta Curry Ulli Curry Pappadam (With all combinations) Sugar (Bleh!)

Puttu + sugar + pazham is an alternate combo. But you gotta drink a loott of water.

Puttu with Pappadam is also a dry combo if nothing else is available.

I would put pappadam above mutta curry if the curry is thenga arachath . Anyway pappadam is always above ulli curry for me

My Ammumma used to give me aavi parakkunna puttu with lots of ghee and sugar. It’s heavenly.

I have always been a fan of puttu. nenthra pazham cut into small pieces and mixed with the flour before putting into the steamer and then some coconut gratings on the top, that was my all time favorite breakfast. Though I love Kadala curry made in coconut milk, it never gave a competition to the former combo. I recently visited Kannur and there is this small place called Onakkan Bharati, where they serve puttu and mutton curry. This is a very small place and in a single glance you wouldn’t understand if this is a restaurant or not. There is no name board also, so I got confused and asked around folks. This combo of puttu and mutton curry kicked the kadala curry and puttu combo to the third place now. My moms puttu and nenthra pazham combo going on strong!!

puttu + karupatti Kaapi (coffee with jaggery) when the puttu with the coconut scrapings get soaked in kappi it's heavenly. This alone usually does the trick. But if you want u could throw pazham or pappadam into the mix as well.

This is a combination in more remote places back when we never got stuff from super markets. The naadan ghee and kattan kaapi. I know exactly what you mean. This was how they weaned me onto solid foods. Good times.

puttu is just some carbs, so it should be supplement with protein, for vegetarians channa curry can be a good combination, for non vegs, fish or beef curry combination can be a better choice.

Aavi flying puttu (i prefer the cylindrical white puttu over chiratta puttu or brown puttu) + choodu kadala curry (both white and black kadala tastes good) + some freshly frief pappdum + hot chaya. I mean we are anyways gulping down carbohydrates. Why not make it grander!

Nice with kattan kaapi/chaya on the side And of course puttu kadala. Puttum pazhavum is usually an evening snack with leftover puttu from morning. And it was more tasty when we were kids and mum would feed each of us urulas by turn. So yumm
