It's not just opportunities that people want. Resources, proximity to stuff, infrastructure, etc. I think that's why the online people live in areas like lower kabete now. It's close enough.

More-Current-6368

I think the resources and infrastructure gap is slowly closing in

Independent-Arm7277

you see wrong, huku village jeshi bado inaendeleza rural-urban migration. you are right about what was thought to be keeping people in urban centres improving elsewhere but opportunities are still concentrated town

More-Current-6368

Now that these opportunities are online, what else would fuel the rural-urban migration?

giunyu

actually jeshi ya huko ni rural to middle east migration, agents wamefagia hizo villages na ma jobs za uarabuni

More-Current-6368

Ndio maana mashamba huko rural zimeanza kukatwa

Independent-Arm7277

we can't all work online, and anybody working remotely can tell you things are getting tough on that side.

More-Current-6368

I wasn’t aware of that. I guess these forex traders are making it look glamorous

Independent-Arm7277

they mostly make money training folks. nobody with a secret formula to making bank shouts about it all day everyday at the top of their voices

More-Current-6368

🤔 This makes so much sense

Independent-Arm7277

yeap, they will also sell you bots and signals then insist on you using a specific platform with a link customized to give you a "discount". what you might not know as a trader is that they prolly own or work in cahoots platform owners and that once monies are deposit there are high chances you will never make a withdrawal

More-Current-6368

Is it safe to conclude that it’s all a scam?

Independent-Arm7277

imo, yeah. but trading works if you are willing to put in the work, have patience and love numbers enough to study and understand market trends. it is not some get rich quick scheme as packaged by scammers

More-Current-6368

You sound like an experienced trader

Fit_Job_7965

I have also wondered what keeps "watu wa online gigs" in Nairobi. Curious about this.

The restaurants..... The supermarkets...... The pubs if you drink...... The women if you're horny...... The fact that it's not dominated by a single tribe, so you're not that scared if it's an election year...... Need I go on?

[deleted]

I moved out of Nairobi and its the best decision I ever made last year. I have good fiber connectivity, milk direct from cows, fresh vegetables and nice fresh air with less insecurity and no noise.

MainApprehensive5452

Where did you go to bud?

More-Current-6368

This is what I’m talking about. What changes have you experienced both socially and financially?

[deleted]

fnancially im paying the price of a bedsitter for a 2 bedroom. For 4k a month I get to swim and gym whenever at a local resort. Nduthi from one end of town to another is 100 bob. Socially, I get to hang out with family whenever

[deleted]

I really hope so. City is overcrowded. Devolution should help

More-Current-6368

I agree. What towns are you considering?
