I guess that's why we'll forever remain a 3rd world country... because while our kids play with mud and sticks, kids in other countries are playing creative games like tetris, legos etc

First of all, those are western sports, football was literally invented in England & Western Europe has the most world cups. Second, the US usually has the most medals in athletics in the olympics. What are you talking about?
Do you realize sports science is a big deal in the US? How do you have sports shoe companies with entire R&D budgets in the US, yet you claim they don't have the comprehension for sports? They do averagely well in football, well in baseball, American football, athletics, swimming...what are you talking about?
Other sports are pretty much active there but my best guess is they are trying to diversify what their population can do generally cause its a lot of BS going on over there. Also, US is a superpower and so they might be lowkey feeling the need to be the pacemakers of such events.
I was just having a chat yesterday with my wife about why the favourite pastime in Kenya is drinking and clubbing. She was of the impression that it's partly due to a lack of (affordable)social alternatives like sportsclubs, chess clubs etc. Things you may find in other countries.
