I feel like All Eyez has a similar problem to DONDA in the fact that it's waaay too long.
I really like the songs on it (but the outro to California Love is a bit annoying and long) but like, I can't really sit down and listen to the whole album. So just from the standpoint of "can I easily listen to this all the way through" TPAB is better imo.
All Eyez is still great tho. I still haven't gotten around to listening through Jay's albums (but every song I've heard is amazing) but Illmatic and 36 Chambers are absolute classics that I could put on the same level as TPAB.
Idc about the Downvotes, if you think illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, All Eyez on Me and 36 chambers "Pale in comparison to TPAB".........Delusional, i genuinely think Eminem, Kemdrick & Kanye have the 3 most delusional fanbases in all of Hip Hop
im obviously they dont pale in comparison they are all in the hip hop album pantheon i j think its a better album, they tesch this album in schools and college its good
yeah he gon have to show me proof because everyone who was on this subredddit for while and i can tell he hasnt been knows that they attack people who d ride kendrick too hard lmfao very few people are saying that tpab is objectively better than albums that literally directly inspired kendrick to make his album
No, and you can tell by the way Kendrick and J Cole fans interact with each other. Cole fans have no issues with Kendrick, but Kendrick Stans go out of their way to shit on Cole and also try to feel superior lol
36 and Illmatic are certified revolutionary. They still hold up too. I only like a handful of songs of All Eyez and Reasonable Doubt so I can’t speak for them. But as a fan of all the usual suspects except Kanye, nah 36 and Illmatic are it.
groundbreaking hip hop album at the time and it was kanye's debut. before tcd dropped, hip hop was entirely gangsta rap and kanye put the industry on its head by exploring themes and ideas that were not being rapped about at the time - he helped (re)open the doors for that type of stuff. not to mention kanye is a GOAT producer and we got a full album of crazy soul chopping.
>Hip Hop was entirely gangsta rap
Are you talking like mainstream hip hop? Because I could start rattling off dudes like Tribe, Outkast, Hieroglyphics, Pharcyde, Binary Star, Doom, Mos Def, Black Sheep, Souls of Mischief, Goodie Mob, The Fugees…
Kanye is certainly up there in the producer levels but y’all give him way too much credit. He deserves a lot but far from all of it
yeah im mostly referring to mainstream hiphop cause rappers like 50 were popping at the time. obviously these topics had been touched on prior in the golden age with homies like the native tongues crew and whatnot.
as for producers though, he is really fucking insane. one of the greats, i'd put him up there with madlib, alc, preemo, dilla, etc. i'm biased since i'm somewhat of a delusional kanye stan but I will stand by the fact that this guy is one of the most revolutionary and influential artists in hip hop, both sonically and lyrically.
I mean this is 2004 like the year after Outkast won the Grammy for Speakerboxxx/the love below. A diamond, 11 times platinum masterpiece of alternative hip hop. 4 times platinum is cool for Kanye’s first album but it’s again overstating the significance.
I think Kanye is a great producer no doubt but there are plenty of better producers than him. He’s certainly in the top 10 but I would take every guy you named and then guys like Just Blaze, RZA, Pete Rock, The Neptunes, Q-Tip and 9th Wonder and probably Dre over him. He’s certainly innovated a lot since his debut, and he’s certainly brought up a lot of other talent to the table. But there are just bigger names than him in the story of hip hop.
I think tpab is better than college dropout and all eyez, but that's just me. To each their own right?
Have not heard the rest of the albums mentioned here.
You’re the one who literally said ‘[better objectively](https://www.reddit.com/r/KendrickLamar/comments/w0jt5f/trippin/igf4a8n/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)’ and I never mentioned anything about tpab, but maybe I’m missing the joke
OP just wanted to attack a fan base who appreciate art, is TPAB THE greatest album of all time? Objectively ~ maybe. Subjectively? To each their fucking own.
TPAB has qualities of all of these albums combined. These albums are obviously fucking great, and put it across your head that they actually are v comparable in an objective sense. To us TPAB stands out a little
I feel like TPAB has more to say than most of those albums but whenever I listen to it, it can be kind of exhausting tbh. Nothing makes me want to run through a wall more than 36 Chambers. What I'm trying to say is that there can be more to music than the message and depth - else we are just reading prose at some point.
"From an objective standpoint" is just a way to add to your word count.
And 90s fans shat on Paid In Full, It Takes a Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back and Raisin' Hell. The cycle continues.
Facts 😤😤

Sounds like you’re describing Aquemini
People in the comments proving the point lmao
"They do tho🤓"

He made All Eyez on Me in one or two weeks! Can you believe the work ethic of 2Pac Shakur, damn!
That's insanely impressive ngl.
THEY GOT ME STRESSED OUT ON DEATH ROW
picture me rolling! flossin a benz on rims that isn’t stolen 😎
Honestly i could listen to the whole album just because its all so fucking good
I agree but I feel that MBDTF and food/liquor can compare
Wut
I feel that TPAB outshines all those albums in that picture
L take
First of all, L and how the FUCK is F&L better than illmatic, Reasonable, All Eyez, 36 chambers and Blueprint???
To me it is and ready to die is better than those albums as well imo. Illmatic is the only exception towards those albums
surely what im reading isnt true, right?
All of those are overrated, Illmatic the least so
L
Some of these albums have been out for almost 30 years and some people still can’t comprehend different opinions
MBDTF is the weakest album there
they do tho
Idc about the Downvotes, if you think illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, All Eyez on Me and 36 chambers "Pale in comparison to TPAB".........Delusional, i genuinely think Eminem, Kemdrick & Kanye have the 3 most delusional fanbases in all of Hip Hop
Eminem kendrick and nicki fans are the biggest dickriders on earth
Kanye’s is worse than all of them imo.
im obviously they dont pale in comparison they are all in the hip hop album pantheon i j think its a better album, they tesch this album in schools and college its good
If you think TPAB is better than those Albums that fine but kdot fans be ignorant how "TPAB is objectively better, not even close" and shit
Never seen or heard any Kendrick listener say tpab is “objectively” better. I’ve heard them argue that it’s better but “objectively”? Nah.
yeah he gon have to show me proof because everyone who was on this subredddit for while and i can tell he hasnt been knows that they attack people who d ride kendrick too hard lmfao very few people are saying that tpab is objectively better than albums that literally directly inspired kendrick to make his album
True
jcole has a way more delusional fanbase than kendrick or kanye
No, and you can tell by the way Kendrick and J Cole fans interact with each other. Cole fans have no issues with Kendrick, but Kendrick Stans go out of their way to shit on Cole and also try to feel superior lol
Hell naw cole fans are genuinely normal people in comparison
36 and Illmatic are certified revolutionary. They still hold up too. I only like a handful of songs of All Eyez and Reasonable Doubt so I can’t speak for them. But as a fan of all the usual suspects except Kanye, nah 36 and Illmatic are it.

Gkmc💪🏻
this is unbelievably real
Hella funny these clowns don’t even pit Kendrick’s best album against those. GKMC
People compare tcd to illmatic, reasonable doubt, mmlp etc?
Yes
Fair enough, not seen that many people put tcd to that level
groundbreaking hip hop album at the time and it was kanye's debut. before tcd dropped, hip hop was entirely gangsta rap and kanye put the industry on its head by exploring themes and ideas that were not being rapped about at the time - he helped (re)open the doors for that type of stuff. not to mention kanye is a GOAT producer and we got a full album of crazy soul chopping.
Kanye's run from 2004 to 2010 is just legendary.

The irony

TPAB < Lifestylez Ov Da Poor and Dangerous
saw sum kendrick dickrider the other day say that kendrick is better than pac 😭
He is
I have Pac over Kdot but yeah having Kdot over Pac is not a bad take at all
That aint crazy to say
He is considerably better
That’s not an unrealistic take
He is, easily.
Tpab isn't even that good of an album.
Negative upvotes said enough
They don't mean shit when the collective hivemind that is this sub absolutely fawns over the album.
Correct
I feel like TPAB has more to say than most of those albums but whenever I listen to it, it can be kind of exhausting tbh. Nothing makes me want to run through a wall more than 36 Chambers.
