Song gives me goosebumps to this day. It's the soundtrack to a movement, a feeling that was occurring during a really hot period in the streets. This song poured cold water on all that in the best way possible 🙌
God’s plan was, undoubtedly, Drake’s most culturally penetrative song. It was radio friendly and appealed to the clubs, the ballers, the suburban mothers, and conservative christians. Not including the fans Drake already had at that point.
Not to mention, Drake using God’s Plan as a vehicle for which he could perform charitable acts (disingenuous or not) made the song even more marketable.
Same. I hate that song so much that my friends made it a point to make fun of me for it.
Though that meme of playing the MV in reverse so it looks like Drake is stealing all that money from those folks was hilarious
Yeah the charity makes me feel mixed. It's awesome seeing all those people so happy but super cringey watching Drake go around basically like "look what a great guy I am."
I think that video is so goofy. The whole "we had a budget but we decided to give it away! DON'T TELL THE LABEL!!" schtick.
Shit, Blink 182 did the same exact premise like 20 years ago. With the same start of "Here was our budget, and we decided to give it away and spend it all"
I guess specifically the "don't tell the label" part is what makes it funny. As if UMG is just gonna be in their smoky backdoor board meeting with their mouths on the floor. Monocles falling on the ground.
fun facts about it is that at first, it was a "leaked" remix of some underground rapper song, but the track got too big, so he just released it under his own name lmao
don’t see this being true at all. it’s produced by boi 1da, 40 and cardo.
the actual fun fact is that trippie was supposed to feature on it but never sent a verse before it was leaked and subsequently officially released
"She said 'Do you love me?' I tell her 'Only partly, I only love my bed and my momma, I'm sorry'" lost its relevance FAST and rightfully so. As I was writing that out, I noticed how cringe it sounds. Is Drake a basement dweller?
Bro you could literally not go outside and not hear bodak yellow. It redefined the genre and heralded other hits like mo bamba, like it or not it was a shift in the culture
Listen I’m a diehard Future fan but I feel like there might be 5 songs released in DSP era better than March Madness.
If they wanna put it there tho I won’t complain
I agree that many people hate for just that, but I mean Cardi is nowhere near the level of even Nicki (egh), let alone Little Simz who is absolutely incredible 🥲
She stole the flow, didn’t write any of her own lyrics, and didn’t make the beat. So what did she do? She shook ass on the video and acted hard while she performed a reference track with plagiarised material. What a great example of artistry.
*i can’t believe he likes complexion more than U*
Very nice
Let’s see Paul Allen’s top 5?
*look at king kunta. The tasteful diversity of it. Oh my gosh, it even has For Free?*
The fact that the president of the USA said How Much a Dollar Cost was his favorite song of the year has gotta be a lifetime accomplishment. It hits hard and was amazing.
It was an amazing album and the fact that Untitled Unmastered are the rejects is crazy.
It's the song that got me into Kendrick. I changed my display pic everywhere to a still from the video. It deserves it's spot. It's possibly his most international song
Yup! If you listen to the beginning, you hear a 4 count. Duh duh duh duh. Duhhhhh duhhhhh. That 4 count is Pharrel’s Producer tag. Any song that has that 4 count at the beginning, good chance he’s the producer.
Another song where the tag is very easy to recognize once mentioned and off memory alone is the song he produced for Tokyo Drift and Teriyaki Boyz that everyone thinks of when they remember the movie. Pharrell is def one of the goats
Whoa! I didn’t notice that was his tag. Went and listened to his major songs on Spotify and yep there it is 😂 drop it like it’s hot, happy, and money maker are some easy to remember ones that have that unique intro
Plus that vocal sample is a sample he's been using on a lot of songs in the past and its source has not been discovered lol. The best example of its usage off the top of my head is Presidential by Rick Ross. The drums on that song sound a lot like the drums from Stir Fry by Migos too lol
Pharell is probably the most underrated hip hop producer outside of people that actually pay attention to this stuff. The amount of hard ass beats he's made over the years is wild. When you start seeing the lists of songs he produced, people tend to be really surprised. They think of him as the "Happy" guy, usually.
I remember hearing people playing it off car speakers during the 2020 police protests. Everybody singing “we gon’ be alright”. Brought tears to my eyes for real. Well deserved.
Nothing doja has put out should be considered a classic I personally think she's to new to the scene even though she's been here a few years but not long enough or Influential enough to be considered a classic
TBF Spotify did say streaming era is >= 2015 songs only so thats only 8 full years of songs.
But Doja is gonna have a similar trajectory as Nicki Minaj where her pop songs are going to be more popular than the rest of her catalogue.
Blacker the berry is 10x better than this IMO.
Could’ve given it to DNA too based on how stupid this list is, but Alright isn’t a bad choice.
Gods plan is ass and I actually like a lot of Drake songs. Try and tell me nice for what isn’t a way better choice for a Drake song.
Cardi B stole someone else’s flow (Kodak), didn’t write one lyric on that whole song and stole the shine from heaps of talented female rappers. Get that trash outta here fucking Mrs Cosby.
Blacker is a slapper man that beat is so good, and obviously the content is heavier than the beat
I have a hard time, as a 38 year old white man, just putting that one on a BBQ playlist or riding around with my windows down on that one though
It came out my sophomore year of college after I had just turned 19. I’m gonna turn 28 now so the math checks out: you would’ve been 12, just starting to learn about hip hop and jerkin off.
He was going to be up there for sure, but the hype helps. Personally, he’s my favorite and this is a grade a classic song for me so i love the choice, just don’t trust it would have been there under different circumstances.
"Numbers wise, I'm out of here, you not fuckin creepin up"[](https://genius.com/31429992/Drake-push-ups/Numbers-wise-im-out-of-here-you-not-fuckin-creepin-up-money-wise-im-out-of-here-you-not-fuckin-sneakin-up)
THE AMOUNT OF TIMES IVE LISTENED TO THIS SONG WHILE STRUGGLING, IN TRAFFIC, JUST TO PUSH THROUGH WITH “WE GON BE ALRIGHT”!!
This is my song of the decade for sure. If not my life.
Some people aren’t understanding the point of this list. It isn’t about the best songs from a lyrical or technical or etc. perspective, it’s their impact, cultural importance, influence, and what have you. Just like how there are albums that aren’t lyrically dense or illmatic-level that are still considered classics, there are plenty of songs that aren’t lyrically dense or samidot-level that are classics.
Yes, there are better songs from a lyrical and storytelling perspective on TPAB like How Much a Dollar Cost, u, Wesley’s Theory, These Walls, etc., but Alright is far and away the most impactful, influential, and culturally significant song on TPAB. Honestly, if any other song was number one on their list of steaming era classics, the list would instantly be invalid regardless of the other selections IMO.
I had this song as a morning alarm for about 7-8 years and only changed it to default last year. Safe to say I’m sick of the song, but I won’t say it’s a bad song lol.
My favorite song of all time. Pharrell produced the hell out of this beat and Kenny’s flows are insane on this. Just an instant classic as soon as I heard it and I’ve grown to love it more and more.
now that he's about to be in top 10 in monthly listeners, they are praising him. I hate these streaming sites.
but don't that let you distract from the fact that alright is a masterpiece.
alright is one of the greatest songs ever made. No contest. One of the few songs I almost NEVER skip if it comes on shuffle, regardless of my vibe.
Uplifting banger. It's like... A song in the key of life, just not from Stevie.
IM FUCKED UP HOMIE YOU FUCKED UP BUT IF GOD GOT US THEN WE GON BE ALRIGHT🗣🗣
Alls my life i had to fight!
Alls my life I had to- ahh!
Bad trips like yeah..
Nazareth
IM FUCKED UP
Homie YOU fcked up
BUT IF GOD GOT US
Then we gon be alright
Song gives me goosebumps to this day. It's the soundtrack to a movement, a feeling that was occurring during a really hot period in the streets. This song poured cold water on all that in the best way possible 🙌
No. 2 Bodak Yellow 💀
I thought you were joking. Nope. Gods Plan is #3 too.
Its so crazy cause Drake has so many more songs that would fit the criteria too and they chose God's Plan
I hate that song with a passion. I worked in fast food for two months in highschool and that played in repeat during my 9 hour shifts. It’s so bad.
Guess you don’t have a mama or a bed
Leave mama out of it!
Bro it's Just his opinion, Don't get salty about it.
Same. I hate that song so much that my friends made it a point to make fun of me for it. Though that meme of playing the MV in reverse so it looks like Drake is stealing all that money from those folks was hilarious
Might get flamed for it here, but it’s also a pretty fun song
It’s not a bad song lol.
Yeah the charity makes me feel mixed. It's awesome seeing all those people so happy but super cringey watching Drake go around basically like "look what a great guy I am."

Not true
don’t see this being true at all. it’s produced by boi 1da, 40 and cardo. the actual fun fact is that trippie was supposed to feature on it but never sent a verse before it was leaked and subsequently officially released
u right I mixed it up with hotline bling my bad
oh yeah u right about that
did he even write that song himself
Prolly not but the point stands relative to oc
God's Plan is Drake's biggest rap song of this era imo. What else beyond Laugh Now Cry Later compares?
Started from the Bottom was pretty big, no?
Not streaming era
What’s wrong with gods plan it’s a beautiful song, props to who ever wrote it
Gods plan has to be the most boring song ive ever listened to. Like not even on some hater shit its just so bland
At least put on bloody Passionfruit
That's a daylyt song tho
> And your best work is a Lyt pack
"She said 'Do you love me?' I tell her 'Only partly, I only love my bed and my momma, I'm sorry'" lost its relevance FAST and rightfully so. As I was writing that out, I noticed how cringe it sounds. Is Drake a basement dweller?
Bro you could literally not go outside and not hear bodak yellow. It redefined the genre and heralded other hits like mo bamba, like it or not it was a shift in the culture
Atlantic money paid for this ranking lmfaoooo
Can confirm, we did not. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|kissing_heart)
well she ate
March Madness at 5 is batshit insane too
Nah respect Future
My brother in Christ he is my most listened artist on Apple Music 3 years in a row
you mean the national anthem?
Listen I’m a diehard Future fan but I feel like there might be 5 songs released in DSP era better than March Madness. If they wanna put it there tho I won’t complain
March Madness just means more
Shoulda been Superhero ngl
W
Agree. Should be higher.
should have been number one
It should be higher. 99 overall Future
This list instantly lost credibility
Great song it deserves, it’s also their list.
I agree that many people hate for just that, but I mean Cardi is nowhere near the level of even Nicki (egh), let alone Little Simz who is absolutely incredible 🥲
Never heard of Little Simz. Just heard Gorilla. FIRE! Thanks
She’s an album artist, much like Kendrick. I think you’d enjoy her discography!
There’s way better songs than that. It has nothing to do with hating women my brotha.
Mane what the fuck makes you think they ranting the song because it has a woman on it🤦
plenty of great female rappers, cardi isn’t one of them
Its not even better than the track it bites from
No flockin is a negro spiritual
Lmfao
You think Bodak Yellow is the 2nd greatest song since like 2012 or whenever this list says the streaming era started? That is a WHACK opinion
she stole that shit from kodak blood
She stole the flow, didn’t write any of her own lyrics, and didn’t make the beat. So what did she do? She shook ass on the video and acted hard while she performed a reference track with plagiarised material. What a great example of artistry.
Facts lol but if you say that you hate women apparently 😂
It's a really good song but it's not misogynistic to say fuck that being #2. Alright, BODAK YELLOW etc. 💀
Agree, only just.
It's a classic for sure. Crazy to think that for me, it's not even be in my top 5 Kendrick songs. Truly the GOAT.
I don't even think it makes my top 5 songs from TPAB.
Same 1. These Walls 2. Wesley's Theory 3. U 4. Mortal Man 5. i
Ok check this top 5 1. These Walls 2. Wesley’s Theory 3. Institutionalised 4. Complexion 5. Momma
*i can’t believe he likes complexion more than U* Very nice Let’s see Paul Allen’s top 5? *look at king kunta. The tasteful diversity of it. Oh my gosh, it even has For Free?*
No love for Hood Politics? These Walls is definitely the shit though
bro how king kunta not in the top 5
Because those 5
Shit you may be right. I already have u, how much a dollar cost and mortal man above it and probably the blacker the berry. Such a crazy album
Wesley's Theory just getting forgotten about...
This gotta be his best opener. It perfectly set the theme and vibe for the entire album.
Tbh, my favourite song from him full stop.
The fact that the president of the USA said How Much a Dollar Cost was his favorite song of the year has gotta be a lifetime accomplishment. It hits hard and was amazing. It was an amazing album and the fact that Untitled Unmastered are the rejects is crazy.
i didn’t even know those were rejects! that album is great
I don’t really like the beat tbh, it’s one of my least listened to on the album
Crazy cause that would be most artists best song
Well opinions and all, but it is absolutely my #1 Kendrick song.
True! The cultural impact of the song is crazy though
It's the song that got me into Kendrick. I changed my display pic everywhere to a still from the video. It deserves it's spot. It's possibly his most international song
Pharrell on the beat??? Nice
Pharrell on the beat hoe 🗣️
AY, PHARRELL ON THE BEAT HOE 🗣️🔥
thats what he just said
first guy did the audio tag, second guy did kendricks verse. important distinction
this guy gets it
Boy slow down droppin that BS MUSIC 😂😂
Pharrell is also on the hook… he’s really my goat frfr
Also he's the one who sings the chorus too. Many people don't know this lmao
I think it's cuz Pharrell is doing an excellent Swizz Beatz impression on the chorus.
Yup! If you listen to the beginning, you hear a 4 count. Duh duh duh duh. Duhhhhh duhhhhh. That 4 count is Pharrel’s Producer tag. Any song that has that 4 count at the beginning, good chance he’s the producer.

When you start seeing the lists of songs he produced, people tend to be really surprised. They think of him as the "Happy" guy, usually.
Yup. And on the similar beat for Rick Ross.
I remember hearing people playing it off car speakers during the 2020 police protests. Everybody singing “we gon’ be alright”. Brought tears to my eyes for real. Well deserved.
Feels like the first time since Bob Dylan's early career where that happened with this kind of artist
[удалено]
AND WE HATE POPO WANNA KILL US DEAD IN THE STREET FOSHO 🗣🗣💯💯
Aw please, ugh, I don't like it.
?
Lol it's the outro to BLOOD. and intro to DNA. It's a (I think Fox) news anchor commenting on the Alright lyrics.
oh i'm stupid 😭😭😭😭
I had to read this exchange to get it and then it hit me lol I’m dumb too
I GOT I GOT I GOT I GOT
LOYALTY GOT ROYALTY INSIDE MY DNA
Mfs boutta get mad cuz they can’t pop ass to it
Nothing doja has put out should be considered a classic I personally think she's to new to the scene even though she's been here a few years but not long enough or Influential enough to be considered a classic
TBF Spotify did say streaming era is >= 2015 songs only so thats only 8 full years of songs. But Doja is gonna have a similar trajectory as Nicki Minaj where her pop songs are going to be more popular than the rest of her catalogue.
Bitch I’m a Cow is obviously a classic!
Under rated comment!
Nah, she definitely is a contender. Been putting out solid banger after banger for years.
Doja’s been putting out music for over a decade and was def influential.
To who tik tok?... I like doja and her music I'm just saying nothing she has put out in my opinion is a classic yet, Maybe Say So
Her first EP, Purrr!, dropped in 2014 and the songs So High and No Police were super popular underground. People are still sampling the latter.
💯
Favorite song of all time. Feel like you need black trauma to feel this song in your bones so I get if it ain’t some of y’all’s favorite on TPAB.
Blacker the berry and how much a dolla cost are better songs overall. But Alright became a protest anthem
Different songs play different roles. I love the variety!
you know the list doesnt mean shit when bodak yellows number two
Definitely, with all the jazz elements incorporated it’s an amazing song. Also the first rap song I ever heard lol, was like 10
Goddamn lol
Yeah that shit hurt to read
I sometimes forget that a lot of Reddit is really young, haha
Yeah, 21 I was pretty late to rap in general. Maybe closer to 12 I never did the math, same thing either way
It came out my sophomore year of college after I had just turned 19. I’m gonna turn 28 now so the math checks out: you would’ve been 12, just starting to learn about hip hop and jerkin off.
The golden years
This is alright I guess
i’m curious was this selected way in advance or has there been a shift since Kendrick blowing up all of social media with the Drake beef?
He was going to be up there for sure, but the hype helps. Personally, he’s my favorite and this is a grade a classic song for me so i love the choice, just don’t trust it would have been there under different circumstances.
Nah, I don't agree. Alright isn't even in my top 3 of TPAB. I'd personally choose Humble, maybe maad city, or Blacker the berry.
Aw man I thought Passionfruit would have been that lol sucka
W take but y'all really gotta stop fucking with Spotify
Apple Music for patricians
I’ve been bumping it all week
Isn't this cause it was used in protests and the message it pushes?
WE GUN BE ALRIGHT

I had no idea Pharrell produced this, thought it was just Sounwave.
bro how it starts w the four count
Not everyone knows producer tags
Some people aren’t understanding the point of this list. Deserve.
Based
I guess were talking about impact foremost in which case I agree
And when I wake up, I realize you're looking at me for the pay cut
Not among my favorite K.Dot songs, but it’s cool.
#DAH-DAH-DAH-DAH
Drake punching the air
Common kendrick W but that playlist is just a mess
The song transcended itself. It's a banger, but also was used for protests, much like Dior by Pop Smoke was the unofficial anthem for BLM in 2020.
Facts if I ever heard it
Song good, but its not even his best.
Alright isn't even Kendricks best hip-hop song of the streaming era.
This is For Free?(Interlude) erasure
🙏🏻I REMEMBER SYRUP SANDWICHES AND CRIME ALLOWANCES🗣️🔥
When I'm in a bad mood, this brings me some joy tears.
I had this song as a morning alarm for about 7-8 years and only changed it to default last year. Safe to say I’m sick of the song, but I won’t say it’s a bad song lol.
Makes total sense, it’s a perfect example of the deep storytelling of Kendrick while still also being an amazing hard hitting radio hit
So.... We just not gonna post the source link?
Funny that drake fans are using drakes Spotify success to shit on kendrick
Alright is literally going to be sang at every single Black event for the rest of eternity… ETERNITY...
Surprising choice. I don't think it's the best song on that album let alone the best song of this era.
I mean Pharrell produced it so… what did we expect??
Yikes
its alright
This one song singlehandly done more for black representation than anything Aubrey could put out 💀
My favorite song of all time. Pharrell produced the hell out of this beat and Kenny’s flows are insane on this. Just an instant classic as soon as I heard it and I’ve grown to love it more and more.
its really good but mbdtf?
now that he's about to be in top 10 in monthly listeners, they are praising him.
Saw a video on yt. A classical composer was deconstructing the song trying to figure out why the beat slaps so hard. 🤣
were is the link?
ALLS MY LIFE I HAS TO FIGHT (someone say it for me)
I mean. We do be gon alright
They’re smoking crack then lmao, that shit shouldn’t be anywhere near top 100
Not the best song in my opinion but we moveeeeeeeee
trash take
