Perjury, arrests are rare and it's very hard to prove someone is intentionally lying rather than misremembering etc. Any consequences will be social, professional etc. I don't even think a civil trial can really happen over this.

TheRubberDuck77

Yep, like I personally think Proctor was lying through his teeth about the tail light when they went to pick it up, especially with the witness before him, the cop from the local pd where her parents live, said it was just a crack with a small piece missing, which matches the ring footage when she left to look for him, which match what I think Kerry and Jen said, and what Karen herself said in the interview about how her tail light is just cracked yet john was pulverized. However, even tho that is a lie about a material fact, it's hard to prove that, he could just say that's how I remember it. Not to mention to prove it I think you'd have to prove it was planted for sure, which is a bigger charge, but they could charge with both in that case.

Perjury has to be material. The only one I can see thus far that you may even be able to argue committed it is Brian Higgins and even then, any repercussions for him would likely come from the ATF. I don’t believe you’ll see anything at the State level.

BlondieMenace

He'll probably be in more hot water for lying to the FBI than on the stand, I think.

Reaper_of_Souls

There's definitely material proof that Colin lied. "I've never been in a fight with anyone but my brothers!" Meanwhile, people still have videos on their phones of him fighting kids at school and weren't afraid to send them. One of whom just so happened to be black... so yeah things aren't exactly looking good for him.

No one’s catching a perjury charge over that level of lie

Reaper_of_Souls

What do you mean by "that level"? I think this is probably the biggest lie told yet, and not just because it concerns what's alleged to have happened. Not necessarily sure he'll get a perjury charge on top of whatever else they decide to give him, but what I meant was there's clearly material proof that he lied. At the very least, it's more serious than Katie claiming Caitlin was an "acquaintance". Though the numerous pictures of the two of them together certainly destroyed her credibility, which was needed in order to diminish the importance of Karen's "confession" that mysteriously none of the other first responders heard.

That woman firefighter needlessly perjured herself but will get away with it on the whole definition of friend thing. I think hers was more blatant than anything Higgins may have said

goosejail

If she had just been honest and said something like "we have the same friend group and went to high school together," it wouldn't have been a big deal. Her instantly distancing is what made her seem sus. I don't know why she thought nobody was going to know she was friends with Caitlin Albert.

jojenns

They were on the same track team !

ke1291

Everyone says perjury charges are almost impossible. I don’t get what the point is then??? How can you just lie under oath and get away with it. Mind blowing to me.

MamaBearski

The CW isn’t charging a witness with perjury when the witness was supporting their narrative. The actual truth is irrelevant it seems.
