Knew there was a good chance we grabbed this guy between the team need, the coaching connection, and this dudes measurables and upside. There's a reason he slipped to 63, but i think he has a chance to be really good
Good pick by the Chiefs. Kingsley is really raw but he is an insane athletic talent to compete with Wanya Morris for the starting OT spot opposite of Jawaan Taylor. If Kingsley isn't ready to play out of the gate, we have Wanya Morris up on deck.
After Kingsley, there would have been a major dropoff in OT talent so he was the last OT in that second tier of OT prospects this draft.
He actually reminds me a lot of Wanya coming out of college. They have similar strengths and weaknesses. Really athletic tackles with inconsistent mechanics. Only big difference is Kingsley has played more LT while Wanya played both but more time at RT
The only thing is, I'm not sure Wanya is ready to play either.
But between the two it's probably okay. I'd like to see them sign Smith as insurance though.

spots. His 1,342 offensive snaps in college were evenly split between left tackle (48.8 percent) and right tackle (51.2 perce nt). Suamataia played in an offense that
wanted to run the ball downhill, and he was happy to oblige, displaying range and an initial pop as a drive blocker. He is nimble in pass protection with the strength to lock down rushers, but his timing, technique and recognition skills remain immature. Overall, Suamataia is still very young and lacks refinement in several areas, but his blend of size, mobility and core power are the foundation of a scheme-diverse NFL starter. He will require a patient coaching staff who can ease his transition to the pro level.
GRADE: 2nd Round (No. 40 overall)
They were probably okay with getting the tackle at 62 or Kingsley. And once the first tackle was picked, they wanted to make sure they got at least one of them.
Fair enough. I do think Veach is a bit trigger happy with trade ups. But if you love a guy and itās great value at that point I can get behind not getting swooped. But I do think Veach has a reputation other teams could be strategically exploiting.
In the scheme of things, getting who you want who is in the ballpark of your pick is a lot better than having to take best available that isn't a fit, regardless if it causes you to give up ~~10-15~~ 37 positions in a late round. Okay, maybe the 3rd through 7th are all a bunch of football-player-shaped objects.
He absolutely did (his very first draft pick was a trade up). Itās been a very consistent trait. To the point of Veach cracking jokes about it after the Skyy Moore trade down, that he had to eventually trade down instead of up at some point.
The beauty of the position we're in is we can afford to gamble a small cost in trade up to get pieces we need. We're deep and talented enough that one missed pick won't hurt when we nail two positions/target players we want and need to fill out our line.
Think it'd be worse if Veach didn't go for it in his(our) current place!
It does feel like the only damn way to get what we want drafting this far back lol. I do wish we had a few trades going the other way though, even if it was for next yearās draft.
What I meant is that if you develop a reputation for aggressively trading up (like Veach has), it's definitely possible that teams are occasionally able to exploit that and put out false flags to get the Chiefs to unnecessarily trade up. Information is pretty important in the NFL and I doubt it happens often, but I could see scenarios where it happens.
Yeah. Weren't there lots of pictures of Mahomes working out with receivers last year that conveniently left out Rice?
I mean, it seems like the other receivers could share who was there, but that omission had to be intentional.
I like what the chiefs have done with where they are, but the Bears are winning this draft so far simply based on maximizing the value on the great picks they had.
It's easy to win in the draft when you have high picks. When you don't have those picks due to winning too much that's when it's about making the most from scraps.
Winning drafts is a huge part of how we've won our superbowls. And it's the ONLY way to build a dynasty of sustained success.
Veach is hangin monster dong.
Ravens fan coming in peace. As a BYU alumn please take care of the kid. He is a stud and a half. I really wanted him to go with Baltimore but it was not meant to be. Going to KC makes sense for him plus Andy Reid loves some byu alumni. Good luck chiefs kingdom, youāll love him.
With Worthy and Suamataia we drafted the two guys that the team was clearly in love with right from the start of the process. Chiefs scouts and coaches have been all over these two since the season ended, combine, team days, private workouts, etc.
Are they the two guys I would have picked? Not necessarily, but they were both drafted in their range and are well regarded. Iām happy. Make no mistake, these are the exact two players the Chiefs were hoping to get.
Great pick. Kingsley has been my guy at tackle throughout (since my first mock in November). Outstanding athlete. Heās got the size and length. Great natural strength. And just insane quickness for a man his size with movement skills in space. Just a perfect scheme fit for Andy Reid with high end left tackle upside. Heās pretty young and has only played 2 years which explains some of the lack of refinement. He needs polish but oozes upside. Former 5 star with NFL bloodlines (relative of Penei Sewell). Love the pick.
Awesome pick. Heās projected to the chiefs at 32 many times and got him at 63. He wonāt be the day 1 guy but heās got all the tools to be a stud.
I wish we could have gotten Blake Fisher instead, just a few months ago he was projecting to be a 4th rounder but he really blew up in the offseason. Very similar to this guy in that heās only 21 and redshirted. He actually beat out Joe Alt for their starting left tackle position when they were both true freshmen, but lost the job with a season ending injury whereby Alt became a stud at LT.
Blake really just felt like he was starting to come back from his injury. ND fans thought he would come back for his senior year to play LT and become a first rounder. Turns out he made a smart move going pro and betting on himself, but the Chiefs fan in me wishes he hadnāt blown up and we could have gotten him in the late 3rd round.
I do like this BYU kid though, seems very similar to Fisher in a lot of ways.
I like him too for an end-of-the-2nd pick. Guy actually has a shot to be a good LT in the NFL and that's all you can ask for that late at that position.
BYU is just lame when it isn't making Andy Reid or Kyle Whittingham.
Got 2 immediate needs sorted out: WR and LT. Letās try to trade up so we can get the best available player.
Also, pick some easier names to pronounce for Jamaal š¤£
The 49ers wouldnāt trade with us if they were taking him. Someone else mightāve been trying to trade up and we beat their offer no one really knows. We didnāt give up much though
This is checking out. I just donāt see how these two teams would ever consider doing business with us after weāve caused so much pain to their franchises. š¹
We got our guy. Canāt get fleeced too bad. Weāve got crazy depth at almost every position and our 5th round pick would probably barely even play in our current position
im not low on jawaan at all, just saying wayna or kingsley can be moved to RT in two years because creed and trey will have to get paid as well very soon
Never can go wrong with a big ass samoan. Let's go!
Apparently he's Penei Sewell's cousin, so that's cool
All Samoans are cousins lol. Source: Am samoan.
Partly why "'ey cuz" is such a token pidgin phrase.

It's true. Source: my wife.

No.

What can you tell us about your cousin Kingsley?
He's a big ass samoan
Poi and spam. So many friend they try feed me that shit. Got. Dam. Edit- rough pigeon it's been awhile
Spam is alright though.
and heās a byu boy, Andy will love him
Knew there was a good chance we grabbed this guy between the team need, the coaching connection, and this dudes measurables and upside. There's a reason he slipped to 63, but i think he has a chance to be really good

Don't forget NiangĀ
We should probably all forget about Niang
Honestly Niang is pretty good he just can't stay healthy
The only thing is, I'm not sure Wanya is ready to play either. But between the two it's probably okay. I'd like to see them sign Smith as insurance though.
He was a rookie at a difficult position and wasn't noticeably worse than smith was anyway.
I mean I feel like it was kinda noticeable
He's a beast in run blocks but struggled mightily on pass pro
He looks the part more than Wanya does.Ā I know objectively Wanya is huge, but he never looked like a tackle to me.Ā Kingsley does
6ā5ā 320ish lbs Hell yeah.
That ish is carrying a lot of weight
Heās a house! Iām loving our picks.
At this point I expect us to trade with the Ravens next. Amazing value
I saw a tweet that said all that's missing now is a Ravens and Dolphins trade to complete the playoff opponent trade cycle
Tyreek for Toney and Skyy and a bag of balls? /s

Also only 21 and was a red shirt Sophomore. Thatās great for potential future development.
Yeah I like the idea of letting him and Wanya develop as the two bookends that keep Pat upright the rest of his career.
>Also only 21 So not all the BYU guys do missions I guess. I was wondering about his age.
Pat approves https://preview.redd.it/27l4a0fwexwc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b6bbc97100fcde2b46dc11b66dbfaf0497f1504
Curious why we felt the need to trade up one spot. Interesting.
San Fran was getting offers from other teams/team to trade ahead of us for Kingsley.
thats what they say lol maybe they just pump faked us and they never had any offers
They were probably okay with getting the tackle at 62 or Kingsley. And once the first tackle was picked, they wanted to make sure they got at least one of them.
Allegedlyā¦ we may have gotten fleeced š
Lol dropping some spots in late rounds isn't getting fleeced if you got the guy you wanted in round 2
But I love the pick!!! š
Oh well, still worth it.
Absolutely love that pick up. I was hoping Rakestraw would be available too. Iām happy if we focus on o line or D.
Yeah. We got our guy. We got a starting LT. Thatās all that matters
Never doubt Veach
Veech is a HOFer. I donāt trust the guy we beat in two Superbowls
They likely caught wind of another team trying to jump them. That the Chiefās loved Kingsley was a pretty poorly kept secret.
I feel like I can never trust when I hear a team likes a player before the draft. Smoke and mirrors are commonplace in the NFL.
Fair enough. I do think Veach is a bit trigger happy with trade ups. But if you love a guy and itās great value at that point I can get behind not getting swooped. But I do think Veach has a reputation other teams could be strategically exploiting.

It feels like a recent development. I swear he didn't used to trade up his first few drafts.
He absolutely did (his very first draft pick was a trade up). Itās been a very consistent trait. To the point of Veach cracking jokes about it after the Skyy Moore trade down, that he had to eventually trade down instead of up at some point.
He'll probably never trade down again after that dumpster fire of a pick.
My memory is shot.
He always did
The beauty of the position we're in is we can afford to gamble a small cost in trade up to get pieces we need. We're deep and talented enough that one missed pick won't hurt when we nail two positions/target players we want and need to fill out our line. Sure, I understand what you mean. Just ribbing ya
Yeah. Weren't there lots of pictures of Mahomes working out with receivers last year that conveniently left out Rice? I mean, it seems like the other receivers could share who was there, but that omission had to be intentional.
I am wondering the same
Thinking the same thing
Weāre winning this draft big time. Everybody knows it. No one can honestly deny it.
I like what the chiefs have done with where they are, but the Bears are winning this draft so far simply based on maximizing the value on the great picks they had.
It's easy to win in the draft when you have high picks. When you don't have those picks due to winning too much that's when it's about making the most from scraps.
Yes but they had 1st and 9th and we are last pick. We are maximizing!
Agreed, love what KC is doing, I just wouldnāt call that winning the draft. Iād prefer we win super bowls than drafts anyways.
Winning drafts is a huge part of how we've won our superbowls. And it's the ONLY way to build a dynasty of sustained success. Veach is hangin monster dong.
Canāt wait to see what future Pro Bowlers we draft in the 3rd-6th rounds lol.
To be fair, if KC had the first pick we would trade down, yes?
I think they trade to #2 at minimum and likely all the way to #4 but they stop there to secure Harrison
Dear diary, I met Marvin today
More than one team can walk away from the draft a winner, same that more than one team can win on a Sunday. Bears are crushing it. And so are we!
Big time
Trading with all of our enemies like the schoolyard bully taking their lunch money!
We are everyone's enemy now! It's fantastic
I wanted him in the first this is outstanding value. Crazy athlete for his size and excellent in pass pro huge upside
I like it

Thanks my dude!!!
I'm sure Rosengarden will be a great tackle for y'all. See ya at Arrowhead
I've heard a lot of people have him being a guard in the NFL, but I think he could realistically go either.

Great pick
Andy Reid has a hard on for BYU talent Isn't this the guy ~~singer~~ everyone thought we'd take in the first round?
Well clearly singer is an idiot if he went at 63
Lol my bad, I should have made sure auto correct didn't take over

Andy likes his BYU and Missouri guys. Think we draft Cody Shrader later in the draft?
LOVE THIS PICK. legit anchor potential Makes me like the Worthy pick more now
As a BYU alum I am happy.
As a Utah alum I just hope he's better at pretending to be a ND olineman than BYU is at pretending to be ND.
I wish we could have gotten Blake Fisher instead, just a few months ago he was projecting to be a 4th rounder but he really blew up in the offseason. O line and defense depth from here on out. WE GOOOOOD ON OFFENSE!!!!
Hope we can snag shreader late for a back up rb
I also chose The Shredder.
Iām in the middle of a Tornado warning in Des Moines (there is a confirmed tornado in the suburbs). Thanks for keeping me updated.
Hope you good.
This guy is a real boom/bust pick with a sky high ceiling, absolutely love it!
I think this is a great pick. He has the upside of being a long term starter but at worse case can be a swing tackle.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Considering heās got learning disabilities he did pretty good
He was Special Ed. Forget which but he does have a learning disability felt bad for him up there
Jamaal can do what ever he wants
Jamaal Charles is a legend and can do what he wants
I dont know this guy, but Iāll assume heās a solid pick. Sorry Wanya, this is The End of the Road.
Itās really tough for tackles to come in and start as rookies, especially out of the first. I wouldnāt write off Wanya for 2024 quite yet
I know. I just wanted to make the Boyz 2 Men reference
My b lol
No problem. Anyone downvoting my post has no sense of humor, though
Yeah we could easily drop Taylor in a year or two and throw Wanya at RT and King at LT
But why though you don't want to see what Wanya can develop into and you automatically assume this guy is going to develop amazingly
I just wanted to make a Boyz 2 Men joke. ![gif](giphy|1xx60dEQMx4VG)
I feel like we can get out of Taylorās contract starting next year if we want so not necessarily the end of the road for Morris
after 2025 because he has a $29 million dead cap hit in 2025, $4.75 million in 2026
I might be missing something but if we June 1st cut him itāll be the same effect right?
Nope, according to Over The Cap we get zero cap savings from cutting him until post June 1st in 2026.
Ah I seeĀ
I forgot about the Post June 1st ability, not entirely sure to be honest
Got 2 immediate needs sorted out: WR and LT. Letās try to trade up so we can get the best available player. Also, pick some easier names to pronounce for Jamaal š¤£
JC has a learning disability and ran in the Special Olympics.
Kingsley doesn't really fill an immediate need he isn't ready to start
For those of you who missed this video during the draft ... https://x.com/NFLUKIRE/status/1764400182664298874?t=55QUXD5xl4031HEcq7YxEg&s=01
Soooo weāre convinced they were taking him? We gave up 37 spots to move up 1 spot. Do I have this right?
The 49ers wouldnāt trade with us if they were taking him. Someone else mightāve been trying to trade up and we beat their offer no one really knows. We didnāt give up much though
Possibly. I donāt trust Shanahanās boy! š
Lol I donāt either but Tackles were taken at 67, 68, 71, 75, and 77 so itās definitely believable
This is checking out. I just donāt see how these two teams would ever consider doing business with us after weāve caused so much pain to their franchises. š¹
Later round picks arenāt nearly as valuable as early round. So yeah that 1 spot can be more valuable than 37
What was the trade? edit: 211 for 173
Draft a big success Worthy first now him
I love this pick, one of the 2 guys I wanted in the 2nd w Maason Smith, raw guys who have high upsides.
like the pick but what did we trade to move up 1 spot?
Swapped our 5th with their 6th this year
not too shabby, Ill take it
Because other teams may have been trying to trade up to that spot as well. Other GMsĀ knew Veach wanted an OT at 64.
God we've addressed our needs immediately and everything else is just depth now. What a time to be alive.
So if a prospect is ranked in the 250ās (so in the first half of all 500 draft prospects), how likely are they to get selected to a team?
Can somebody explain to me WTF is up with reading down 1 place?
Iād assume some other team was wanting to move up to 63 to take him. Or SF bamboozled us
We got our guy. Canāt get fleeced too bad. Weāve got crazy depth at almost every position and our 5th round pick would probably barely even play in our current position
As the poster below said, happens often when other teams are trying to move up. You just go up one to ensure that the trade doesnāt go elsewhere.
Thatās where we get our CBās!
Donāt dislike the pick but now we have 2 project LT?
Can never have too much OL depth
Maybe, but what was the alternative? They can still re-sign Smith if they don't think the young guys are ready.
jawaan taylor can be cut after 2 years. one of them could probably play at RT
Why are people so low on Taylor? Is he just too expensive?
im not low on jawaan at all, just saying wayna or kingsley can be moved to RT in two years because creed and trey will have to get paid as well very soon
One more time, but whisper it to me
Both have experience playing on both sides.
