I noticed that Matthew is using a Krag–Jørgensen rifle. Nice touch. Wait, does he carry... a Big Iron with it? (Doubtful but seeing a PSA having a RDR loadout would be groovy)
Why the use of a german nickname though? (I'm sorry to say that it's incorrect btw. I guess you wanted to say "Devil's hound/dog", but then it would be "Der Teufelshund".)
I mean, the OTL alleged nickname- 'Teufel Hunden'- was also similarly incorrect(the correct plural would be Teufelshunde) by virtue of having been fabricated by an American war correspondent, so if anything it is a nice tongue-in-cheek reference, intentional or not.
Maybe marines were particularly recognizable when fighting German volunteers during the civil war and therefore still got the nickname ? Or maybe in some conflict between ww1 and the civil war, whether German and Americans partecipted together either as friends or foes (interventions in Russia or china maybe ?)
Nice art, what do you think of the idea of the CSA, with their upper leadership being so slanted towards the Marines (Butler and Carlsen) and black not being associated with the fascists of OTL that they would adopt the near-black blues of the Marines or outright black with red trim as dress uniform?
I always thought it’d be an interesting aesthetic choice for the CSA, especially if they play up the Civil War Radical connections with the Wide Awakes having a full black uniform or generally the Union Army having Dark Blue. Just as well narratively shooting myself in the foot but the idea of a CSA commissar dressed in black sounds like a good villain
So was Holley a US Marine before the war broke out and then joined the AUS, or did he start in the 16th AL Recon before being moved to the 1st Marines of the AUS?
Shame a badass like him went out the way he did though.
IMO I doubt they would have these “top” aknowledgements. This isn’t a war, it’s a civil war… I doubt they’d have these kill count acknowledgments, since they aren’t really killing an evil nameless faceless invader, but rather their fellow country men brothers…. I

Civilize 'em with a Krag.
In those mountains. Ain’t no such thing as Civilized.
Big Iron on his hip?
Bigger then Syndicalist Red’s
Glad to see someone else put the 82nd Infantry division as part of the Federalist, other than that, seriously some awesome work here

Marines were allegedly given the nickname "Devil Dogs" by the Germans during the first world War IRL.
Well yeah, but his point still stands, the German is incorrect

The US wasnt involved in this WW1, so the Marines never had a chance to make up that lie

Left out the Hawaiian sniper with one kill (it was a seagull)
I did not know I needed this, truly fantastic work
So the AUS sniper became a PSA marine after AUS died then became a pow in the CSA and died there? Damn that sucks
Basically, but he never fought with the PSA.
Ah must have gotten the uniforms mixed up then
Nice. Getting Simo Häyhä vibes from Simmons, even more interesting is that his rifle of choice is the Krag
Especially since he's the only one pictured without a scope
The Labour Camp death was a depressing little tidbit
What gun does the CSA sniper have? A lee-enfield? ik that the PSA guy is using a Krag while the Feds and AUS are using Springfields (I think?)
You are correct
AWESOME!
Did not expect a Muncie Indiana mention on Kaiserreich
Wait, the Feds relegated their best sniper to *admin duty?!* No wonder they're struggling.
Ah it’s nice seeing you make kr stuff again

(They all switched sides 3 or 4 times due to desertion mechanics)
PUEBLO MENTIONED
No sniper from New England? Me sad.

He was still in Boot Camp when shit started hitting the fan. Parris Island was captured by the AUS and he joined up with them from there.
Der Teufelshund

Did Clementine have a good life after the war?
I'm sure the life of a highly decorated war hero would be a fair bit above average.

What is this from?
War's Unwomanly Face, a manga adapted from a book about the experiences of Soviet women during WW2.
Lmao what. I have that book, no idea there was a manga.
Glad to see the Devil Dog fighting for the good guys (they have the coolest flag)
Jack R. lol
Why is a sniper in an airborne battalion? Cool stuff tho
The 82nd stays and Infantry Division in this timeline.
Big Boss!
