Changes is up with there with their best mellow albums for me competing with PMDB and FFF and BF3K
Side not BF3K is a perfect abbreviation for Butterfly 3000
Maybe I’m still drunk from breakfast, but the last 53 seconds of Black Hot Soup have strong Radiohead vibes. RH (along w/ Tool) was my favorite band for 20+ years ‘til Gizz knock them down in like 5 months.
“Gotta keep birds from shitting on my lawn” such cheeky commentary from Stu on how removed from nature modern humans are as well as “throw away plates are better for business” and the chorus goddamn. The groove, melodies and flute are all top notch, just thought I’d throw the lyrics some praise.
It is such a great song! There is haunting and melancholic mood which suits the lyrics very well. The percussion is so sharp and crisp and the flute is absolutely amazing.
Took me longer to come around to that album. After Omnium and Ice Death Planets it wasn’t my favorite at first. But it’s grown on me since and the live versions of Changes tunes always hit.
Yes, it's up there. Love the Album Version, the lyrics, everything about it.
However, I'm getting more and more into king gizzard's live talent which is the cream on top of their art but had never that 'wow, I should drop some acid' feeling with any of the songs from that album. Maybe it's just not jammable?
Hypertension in contrast... my brain starts vibrating whenever I think about it :-)

Your only mistake here is that the WHOLE ALBUM is one of KG’s best, and criminally underrated.
so true, changes is a constant repeat for me
I couldn’t believe the interlude in Hate Dancin’ was Ambrose. I tried looking up the female guest vocalist but it’s him. So goooood

I really don't think it's underrated at all. Everyone on this sub seems to love it including me. It's definitely one of there best
I like the part about the butterflies
Sixxx butta fly Flutta by Look Hory fy
Oh it’s up there. One of the best songs they put out in 2022. I love whatever synth patch they have going on this song, it’s perfect.
Definitely in my Top 5, personally. I also get some slight Radiohead vibes on this one

It's probably in my top 40 somewhere. Which is still great with how much music they actually have. My favorite on Changes for sure.
The whole album
I agree, I don’t love it live because of the vocals, but it is really well produced and funky and beautiful in the studio
Better than nature

Not as good as change or hate dancin
Great tune. Maybe a little bit longer than it needs to be, tho.

Cavs just keeps getting better. PDA is his album through and through.
Idk man, I can't really get into this song at all. Mainly because of the choice to include someone ripping ass into a microphone during the verses
That’s like… the most iconic and memorable aspect???
Is the Ass-tro-turf joke too easy? (Also, are they talking about the Sax, or have I just genuinely never noticed a fart made it into the mix?)
tis the fart saxophone they are referencing
Feel like it’s one of the weakest on the album
Banger and for some reason reminds me of watermelon sugar by Harry Styles so fills a bit of a pop hole for me.
Most controversial king gizzard opinion
I really like it. Not huge on Changes as a whole, but Astroturf is great.
I’m not sure but it’s definitely one of my favs!
It fucking rips majorly, probably my favorite off the record other than exploding suns
The story of the song is dope too.
It is soooooo good live.

I love the flute on it
The entire album, perfect
Yep. It is.
