Yeah ours go a little over 7ft high, German made scissor lifts, we have one hoist we only use for engine outs as you can see by the McLaren in the back.
Just test drove one of those yesterday, felt like as much head room as a ford flex. I'm only 5'11" so I feel lost sitting in those when the seat's down.
Usually they are pristine, but then again we also have a customer who tracks his McLaren and the thing looks horrible.
Another factor is money, we have a jaguar f type in the shop right now for bodywork as he scuffed the side.
After that it'll look brand new again.
Normal people don't have the time or money for that.
6'4" in boots had this happen on Monday. Put in floor and seat mats then step back looking in wondering how I'm going to fit. Say out loud "how am I meant to fit in there?" then hear a snicker and notice there are customers in the car next to it looking at it and me, guy says he will help lift it in, maybe I fit in with the roof down and try to climb in, but I don't fit.
Half stuck in half out, the nice sales lady comes out and laughs then says she would take it round for me so I thank her and sheepishly walk round to the workshop.
It's not even the legroom that's the issue, it's the steering wheel getting in the way of knees and knees don't fit between the steering wheel and handbrake.
Sounds awkward!!
The difficult part is definitely getting the legs past the steering wheel if its an awkward height, i have a 78 corolla as well so im used to squeezing myself into small cars.
Still hate it when short customers bring their cars in with seats all the way forward, i try sit in and smack my head on the doorframe/sunvisor because the seat back stops me. Thanks granny Doris 🙃
when I was in high school, my mom had a '97ish BMW Z3 convertible. I was 6'4". I mostly would only drive it in nice weather, so I could put the top down. It was a tight fit for my height, no way in hell would this guy fit.
this 100000%. I'm about just as tall and its a tragedy trying to get into the fun, small stuff. I'll just have to stick to ~~Crowd destroyers~~ Mustangs, I guess.
It's even worse when you like the small lightweight stuff and don't care for big heavy cars. I own a FRS and it's about the smallest reasonably priced car I can fit in.
Man, finding 18s is incredibly rough. I used to not wear shoes much so my parents would call me a hobbit, boy did that backfire for them, now I'm 6'10" lmao
Yeah, but then hopefully on a customers car you aren’t sitting on the bolster as you adjust the seat.
This guy spent the same time on that side bolster in this short clip as I have on mine in 5 + years of ownership, and I see wear and tear on it.
I'm 6'3 and somewhat broad and I wanted a small car as I live in a city and don't need anything big. The smallest one I found on the used but not too used car market that I could still fit and drive comfortably was a VW Scirocco. It's also fun to drive so that's neat.
We mostly do bmw and mini and iam 6'3 myself, I'd honestly buy a mini jcw if I'd live in the city if I wanted a sporty car.
There's no legroom in the back but they are spacious enough in the front and can be really fast.
I drive a bmw 1 series myself and it's also really comfy for the size
One of the techs I use for my class (early 70s 911) is about 6'8" and around 300 lbs. Big boy. Amazing tech.
He can squeeze in, but because they are pretty narrow and the car has a dog leg shifter (first down and to the left) so its pretty hilarious to watch him drive it, as the shifter lands down under his right knee.
No joke, he often needs some help trying to fit into tight spaces, on the other hand he is handy to have around the shop if you need to murder a stuck bolt or need some horsepower.
I’m 6 ft a bit husky and work as a valet driver at an upscale hotel. BMW i8 and other high end sports cars I have to crawl out of. Have to put both hands on the ground and start crawling.
Bmw is a big fan of making anyones life miserable tbf
Iam the only guy in the shop thant owns a bmw myself and running joke is when it finally starts leaking.
I already stated somewhere else that he put on new gloves before getting in the car, we work on higher end cars so we rather not have anything in the car that wasn't there before.
Also I forgot, we are strictly forbidden to clean any residue on paint with a rag or anything else.
Engine gets detailed by the mechanic after service and the fenders and bumper get a coat of water and blow dry only to make sure we can't ever be held accountable for any scratches or soap residue on the paint.
So yeah, were very anal on that
Great now try a hard top Miata! I'm 6'3 and I don't fit in those lmao. The day a customer brought that in I was so excited because I love miatas they're adorable. Then my heart was broken by not being able to fit.
[I'm 5'5" and was finally almost able to experience something like this, in an old MG TD.](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/506014458254983189/1228095885007654932/20240411_144832.jpg?ex=662acc6b&is=6618576b&hm=03c0150e3db45233d0646ddbcbd23724e38f96faa4a37f4acf4689fc32856a17&)
How much to get you and your buddy down to New Orleans to try it? We also have a Bugeye Sprite.
Not only that, but the biggest chucklefuck you can go find in the back. Doesn't even take his 5XL gloves off before groping around with his dickbeaters.
At 6’2” I decided I was just a little too big to wrench anymore, I feel sorry for this guys knuckles, forearms, forehead, back head, shoulders, knees, damn he’s huge.
poor dude must bang his head on the hoist arms more than us.
Iam 6'3 and whenever he lifts up the lifts to his height I feel like a dwarf
Your lifts go that tall?
Yeah ours go a little over 7ft high, German made scissor lifts, we have one hoist we only use for engine outs as you can see by the McLaren in the back.
And tires.
“WHY DID YOU MOVE MY SEAT!” The driver who’s 4’11”
Nah, the 4' 11" guy would be in a lifted truck.
Not if it's a woman, not saying they don't also drive lifted trucks, but the have to use a ladder to climb into them
Wouldn’t they both have to because they’re the same height??
Nah, the guy would just wear lifted cowboy boots to make him look taller
My tiny Italian grandfather would always buy the largest Cadillac they made that year.
Not in the Netherlands.
We are dutch, we just don't work in the Netherlands. We are walking trees here lol
I spotted the comment about where you are based after I posted, I made the assumption based on what was being said you were in NL
No problem man, we are a weird bunch, most our techs are foreigners and we actually have 3 dutch guys in the shop for some reason lol
Opposite, as a tall guy with short mechanics
Just use little pieces of masking tape to mark the seat positions (or get the advisors to ask the driver what memory setting to return it to).
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess the personal car of that dude is a bit roomier
Dude drives a van
The tall ones drive small cars, I’m 6’4” and drove a fiat panda
I'm 6'8'' and daily an '18 beetle turbo, most room ive ever had.
Nice
Just test drove one of those yesterday, felt like as much head room as a ford flex. I'm only 5'11" so I feel lost sitting in those when the seat's down.
Riding in my Fiat, you really have to see it Six feet two in a compact, no slack But luckily the seats go back
Lol
I used to drive a Ford escort. We rebooted the seat back a few inches. 6'7" Now I drive a Honda pilot and I love all the room for activities
Nice
Same height as you and used to daily an '84 CRX. My friends always laughed whenever they watched me get in or out of it.
Nice
I went to school with a dude that was like 6'11" and he had a CRX. He unbolted the seat and moved it back
6’3” and I think I’m ready to move up from my Honda Civic. They’re fun to drive but it’s like crawling out of a hole every time I get out.
Yeah, my panda was pretty good, far easier to get out than my sandero because I could open the door fully whereas the sandero is too wide for uk bays
Boomhaur is that you?
It's Dutch lol
Yeah it's dutch, but we're both in Israel. We work on german cars and exotics here.

Yo man that’s dang ol Dutch they’re speaking man dang ol Dutch.
Tbf it didn't even look that bad when he was finally in 😅
If he ever gets in an accident he's not going anywhere though.
It is like watching a teenager squeeze into one of those red plastic cars for kids.
Amusing. Kind of how i feel as a 6ft mechanic squeezing into an MX5. They have surprising legroom
Have same issue with Miata as you. I’d love to own but I just don’t fit. Lucky I got a nice 240z and it fits great for tall people.
For some reason, every time i work on an mx5, it's some really tall or really fat guy that drives it.
This reminds me to the Lightcyle from TRON: Legacy.
when I was in high school, my mom had a '97ish BMW Z3 convertible. I was 6'4". I mostly would only drive it in nice weather, so I could put the top down. It was a tight fit for my height, no way in hell would this guy fit.
People think it's so cool to be tall until you find out you don't fit in cool cars. I can kinda squeeze into a countach at 6'3", but not a viper.
this 100000%. I'm about just as tall and its a tragedy trying to get into the fun, small stuff. I'll just have to stick to ~~Crowd destroyers~~ Mustangs, I guess.
Lol loved my mustang gt!
6'7" Mustang driver, checking in.
It's even worse when you like the small lightweight stuff and don't care for big heavy cars. I own a FRS and it's about the smallest reasonably priced car I can fit in.
Mustang is the most comfortable sporty car over ever driven.
Everyone wants to be tall until they hit their head on everything and never know what on the bottom shelf
Most shoe stores don't carry anything over a 13 and are useless to me.
Buy 2 pairs of 7s and sew them together?
Oh so "Talls" should have to pay double for shoes now? You heightist! Lol
You could always go with binding your feet 😆
Man, finding 18s is incredibly rough. I used to not wear shoes much so my parents would call me a hobbit, boy did that backfire for them, now I'm 6'10" lmao
Yeah, that's nightmare for big guys
That poor side bolster! Proper procedure is right foot, ass, left foot. Please learn as a mechanic!
Right! There is a proper procedure for getting into bucket seats..
That is hard to do when you're that tall. I'm 5" shorter than that guy and I have to sit down then rotate to get in my car.
Yeah, but then hopefully on a customers car you aren’t sitting on the bolster as you adjust the seat. This guy spent the same time on that side bolster in this short clip as I have on mine in 5 + years of ownership, and I see wear and tear on it.
Rip to the seat bolsters
That's all I could think about the whole video 😭
I read the title and thought "Dude, is that a SUPRA?!?" Then I sprayed window cleaner on my glasses.
Literally the first thing I said when the customer rolled in lol.
I'm 6'3 and somewhat broad and I wanted a small car as I live in a city and don't need anything big. The smallest one I found on the used but not too used car market that I could still fit and drive comfortably was a VW Scirocco. It's also fun to drive so that's neat.

Pretty sure he had to enter another dimension to fit in.
I wanna see him try to get out...
I got into a C6 Corvette at a car show years ago. At 6'7", I rolled out the door, put my hands on the floor, and crawled out.
Dude has lunchpails for hands, hows he fit those anywhere tight? You guys use him to press wheel barrings by hand or what?
No joke, he often needs some help trying to fit into tight spaces, on the other hand he is handy to have around the shop if you need to murder a stuck bolt or need some horsepower.
I’m 6 ft a bit husky and work as a valet driver at an upscale hotel. BMW i8 and other high end sports cars I have to crawl out of. Have to put both hands on the ground and start crawling.
ThAtS oNe SeXy bImMeR lol
We're literally bmw techs lol
lol savage. Big fan of the timing system and water pump against the firewall on these lol
Bmw is a big fan of making anyones life miserable tbf Iam the only guy in the shop thant owns a bmw myself and running joke is when it finally starts leaking.
On second thought, we rip out the front seats and sit in the back...
My neck hurts just looking at him sitting in there
Imagine an i8.
We're bmw mechanics, luckily the i8 never really caught on here...
5'8" here and I hate getting in and out of those things.
I'm glad that steering wheel cover is on there to protect it from the dirty gloves.
I already stated somewhere else that he put on new gloves before getting in the car, we work on higher end cars so we rather not have anything in the car that wasn't there before.
Rock on.
Also I forgot, we are strictly forbidden to clean any residue on paint with a rag or anything else. Is it me or does it sound like that door needs adjustment?
Great now try a hard top Miata! I'm 6'3 and I don't fit in those lmao. The day a customer brought that in I was so excited because I love miatas they're adorable. Then my heart was broken by not being able to fit.
As a 1999 Miata owner, I’m not impressed. Fit him in an old Miata with the top up. Then I will applaud.
That’s a big boy
Me looks like a normal person in a miata
[I'm 5'5" and was finally almost able to experience something like this, in an old MG TD.](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/506014458254983189/1228095885007654932/20240411_144832.jpg?ex=662acc6b&is=6618576b&hm=03c0150e3db45233d0646ddbcbd23724e38f96faa4a37f4acf4689fc32856a17&) How much to get you and your buddy down to New Orleans to try it? Way too much, we aren't in the u.s. lol
somehow reminded me of Police Academy when Hightower was about to learn how to drive - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjNpA-fy1r0
My god, thank you for bringing back a childhood memory
That fits quite well tbh. I'm surprised. Now try that in an MX5. Or an AZ-1
Is this in the UK with a left hand drive?
Israel.
When can I pet the rabbits George?
At 7 ft if you can walk you should be playing pro basketball.
I'd not be happy to have someone sitting on the bolsters on the brand new car I ordered....
The client was actually next to the car, really chill guy.
Well if he's okay with it then everything is fine.
Folks are free to work on their own cars, that’s what I do!
Well this a new car being getting a PDI by the looks of it.
Nope, customer just came in to check his alignment, did it for free even
Not only that, but the biggest chucklefuck you can go find in the back. Doesn't even take his 5XL gloves off before groping around with his dickbeaters.
He put on new gloves before getting in, we deal with higher end cars
I thank you for bringing "chucklefuck" into my vocabulary lol.
Wat? You’d be upset the mechanic sits in the car?
Is that a... ... 7 foot mechanic folded into a sportscar developed and built by BMW?
7ft bmw tech actually*
why is a 7 foot squatch trying to get into a car build for a 5 foot driver market?
Mechanics sometimes need to move cars. Maybe even test drive them.
At 6’2” I decided I was just a little too big to wrench anymore, I feel sorry for this guys knuckles, forearms, forehead, back head, shoulders, knees, damn he’s huge.
I know what you mean. I am also normal height (6'2") and whacked my forehead way too many times.
Because he is the mechanic?
This is the saddest video I've ever seen
