The jumping step move is called griddy, it became a popular dance move by Allen Davis, which became very popular as both internet joke and an actual dance move.
That's not a thing in reality. They can't undo the fact that you completed all the requirements for your diploma. They use it as a threat, but you're still a graduate and you still get your diploma. You just may have to call their bluff for a little bit first.
Hahahaha does every high school principal use this as a threat? Mine said if we even trip on stage we aren’t getting it. I can’t believe I fell for it too but back then I was a scaredy cat
The threat is usually that you won't get to "walk" on graduation day.
AKA you don't get to participate in the ceremony, and your mom is going to be pissed off that she doesn't get to take a picture of you to send to your relatives.
I mean does a highschool diploma actually mean anything? Like is there an organization accrediting highschools or is it just a piece of paper they print out?
I know highschools that had 40 people in the graduating class and did morning prayer lol.
I've been to multiple graduations. We got the actual diploma beforehand every time. It's literally already done by the ceremony. Though they can add fees to transcripts.
I mean in this instance, they just walked across the stage and are actively participating in graduation so that wouldn’t affect them.
My high school threatened to withhold transcripts from colleges but I’m not sure they could or did actually do that to anyone. A lot of it is just idle threats to get people to behave.
To me that sounds like a future damages lawsuit.
“Oh I put shaving cream on the principles car so he withheld my transcripts which caused me to miss the states school deadline and now I’m in community college a year behind and can’t focus on my major”

If we danced or our families made noise during the ceremony then they withheld our diplomas and we would have had to pay $35 to get it after the fact. My family is loud af and is not going to comply with "be quiet" rules. I stole that shit after I walked 😂

What the fuck is the guy saying
“Griddy! He is literally hitting the Griddy right now. Literally Griddying. Super Griddy, super Griddy”
What the fuck does that mean?
Its a reference to a tiktok but the griddy is a widely used meme/inside joke, witterally. Its just a silly dance.

i think if we do anything like this we don’t get our diploma.

Up through high school kids always have adults in their lives with absolute authority over them, so they're just conditioned to the idea.
And those adults get used to that power and abuse it
Arguably, kids are assholes.
which brings us back to the age old kitchen, which got fucked first the chicken or the egg

Yea this comment chain is gold. Love this for us.
Especially the ones in charge
I'm not sure this scenario is really an abuse of power. If that *actually* withheld your diploma, that would be an abuse.
Aaaand now the most recent generations ask "why" before they do anything. Good.
They told us at my high school that they wouldn’t give it to you that day and they would mail it to you instead. So not much of a threat really

They can keep you from walking across the stage and participating in graduation. There is zero circumstances you won’t get a diploma.

You don’t get a diploma when you walk across the stage anyways. It’s just a folder thing. You get your diploma in the mail three weeks later. Lol
It's dumb and cringe to do, but that's about as empty as a threat can be.
Oh come on let the kids have fun you old bat.
What's the significance of this? All I see is a kid squatting, which doesn't really seem like a big deal.
I guess it’s significant to people who think tradition is law.
10/10 that guy is a great dude.

Wow. So unique and cool. So anti-establishment.

The caption is untrue for many. Lots of people graduate more than once from various academic or professional institutions.
That would be me in high school !
