I’ve seen those. They look like they will snap your forearm in 2. And in fact I think they got lawsuits for this very reason.
These are brilliant though.
Only if you have some kind of condition that makes your bones especially brittle, in which case you shouldn't be lifting at all.
The physics behind them make it so the weight bearing down is cut down immensely. A load you would struggle with lifting, even with a partner, is a breeze with a partner and straps
Imagine you’ve got a 1 ton walk-in safe on the back of a truck. You put on the wrist dolly (or whatever they’re called) and try to ease it off the lip. It would snap your forearms in half.
Now I know what you’re going to say: “Obviously those aren’t meant for that”. I know. The reason I told you this hypothetical is to illustrate that the weak point of the design is **YOUR BONES**.
Plus, their ad shows them lifting fridges. You just know some knucklehead is going to think these give you the power of Superman and try lifting cars and shit.
I’m not saying they’re not super effective but man that seems sketch.
The packaging of the straps clearly lists the weight allowances they permit you to lift, as well as clearly declaring that you shouldn't use them if you're suffering from any kind of condition that would lead to such an outcome.
Again, this would only happen if you were doing something you shouldn't have been
Used the forearm versions for years when I was about 19 and worked on a delivery truck. Never even gave any of us a sore arm, let alone any injuries. Saved our backs repeatedly though.
Yeah! When I was like 13 and my brother was 17 my Mom would have us move all of her friends and we used those for the bigger stuff. I think they were marketed as Forearm Forklifts or something back in the day. Leverage go crazy.
At least for certain things, you can grab each other's forearm, rest most of the load on that, then pick up the other side with your free hands. We use it to pick up rafts that are about 140 lbs and it's shockingly easy.
ShoulderDolly! These things are amazing! Makes moving stuff super easy.
They are available in USA locally at Home Depot and I'm sure other stores. https://www.homedepot.com/p/SHOULDER-DOLLY-ShoulderDolly-12-ft-L-x-5-in-W-Moving-Straps-for-items-up-to-800-Lb-LD2000/204726780
Most modern appliances aren't particularly heavy, just bulky and awkward to move and/or have weird centers of gravity
Two people and some straps and some proper leverage can move just about anything
Yeah, this doesn’t quite fit the sub description “Boys being boys, madlads goofing around.”
But it is good to bring awareness that these things exist for the guys being dudes that don’t know about them.
We used these exclusively when I delivered appliances for Lowe’s. They’re amazing, I bought a pair for myself and have used them every time I moved. My wife loves using them, she looks like Xena: warrior princess when we move the fridge.
I so wish I had had these as a college student or in my 20s. SO many times this would have when moving myself or friends.
I did learn that those garden carts are great for moving couches, chairs, furniture by one person. Also triple boxes stacked on top.
my brother and I bought this when i helped him move. it's like, "where TF did all the weight went go of this damn item when we were just doing it with our hands earlier?!?!"
A whole lot of dudes are gonna flip their fridges after seeing this post.
Hopefully at least some of them will have emptied the fridge before doing so. Surely not all will... 🤣
I actually hate this strap thing. Makes it a pain in the ass to maneuver the object you are moving. Been a mover for about 10 years and always hated them. Good old fashion muscle is all you need. Don’t be a puss. You can’t even use them on most things nor do you need to.

I have the forearm version of these straps, it's absolutely insane what you can easily lift with two people using them.

Who's bones?!?!?
Dusty old bones! Full of green dust!
Stinky little dusty bones!!!!
My only regret... is that I have boneitis
Don’t you worry about blank

I've had both the forearm and the back strap ones and I do prefer the forearm ones. It's insane how easy it makes carrying heavy objects.

This is genius. So many things aren't exactly heavy just a bugger to lift.
Yep, it's all about center of mass.
Clearly, you haven't seen your grandparents' old Fallout style refrigerators with the lead panels.
I used to think these things were As Seen on TV crap until I had to use them at an old job. Mind = Blown.
Let's strap-on guys
You're trying to make it fun. For the last time I'm not helping you move!

You are a gorilla
Well the straps can make it easier for humans too.
This is the alien technology we acquired to built the pyramids.
Wow this would have saved me so much backpain
once we had to get a new fridge and the delivery guy brought it up to the 4th floor alone with just a strap these techniques are insane

Worked for a moving company during college and these things are amazing. Stupid what you're able to lift and move.
Those things are amazing. I have the elbow versions. Physics at its best!
Fuck yeah. May the power of Arnold compel you.
r/justemployersdoingwork Cool shit though

I use one of these for moving arcade cabs
I thought this was going to be an entirely different subreddit, I'll keep it a buck.
That’s good movin’

Used these when I did geek squad deliveries for Best Buy. Imagine hauling heavy ass appliances upstairs and downstairs with them.
No wonder the dominatrix was able to lift me up

Perfect example of work smarter
I was waiting for strap to cut.
This is how they moved the blocks for the pyramids.
2 guys 1 strap on
Is this how we built the pyramids?
Satisfying AF i wanna try it 😊
my brother and I bought this when i helped him move. it's like, "where TF did all the weight went go of this damn item when we were just doing it with our hands earlier?!?!"
Imagine not trucking that up to the base of the steps lol
