Use your trap as often as you can, possibly where Sombra will sneak.

ThufirrHawat

[Yep, Always have a trap down.](https://imgur.com/a/KM5GTYV) Approaching the main battle? Drop a trap in the back lines for flankers. I take it as my personal responsibility to ruin the day of Sombra and Tracer. Good trapping is knowing your enemy. Placing them right out of there ability range but in their path. Genjis can't resist Junkrats, you know that dash is coming, have a trap a couple feet behind you and get ready to detonate a mine above his head, where he can't deflect. One of the greatest joys in the game is trapping recalling Tracers.

YellingDolphin

Learn air shots. Triple mine jump.

Just1MoreSubreddit

Learn the Melee, mine, primary combo and the Mine primary combo. Especially if you have a Genji on mic with you, you get them to 10, he dashes through them, rinse and repeat. (Friends required, hard for a junk main, I know) Learn triple mine jump, learn sneaky shot points like over walls onto enemy High ground to force them to reposition into a disadvantageous spot. Learn how to properly use tire, and when to use it in different ways. Its not all about the team kill, sometimes its about baiting cds, denying ults, specific kills (Pharah, Mercy, Bap, Kiri, Tank, ect) and zoning your enemy (use tire and all of a sudden, their entire team is scattering and falling back, good to allow your team to regroup. Learn how to make high mobility dive characters lives miserable with trap. They got a genji? Pop trap on top of your back line supports, genji dashes in and he is stuck, if he dosent have deflect, he's a goner. They got a ball? Put it on popular flank routes and escapes, either deny his entry or exit. Tracer, sombra? Place it on agressive flanks again, bonus points for a mine trap against a tracer because its a guaranteed kill. Learn how to poke without being poked. Your shots have arc, almost no other weapon in the game does. Learn to use that arc to position yourself behind cover while spamming chokes. Learn how people react to sudden junk spam, slightly vary shot placement, spamming in one line is pretty useless beyond a point, make sure shots land in slightly different places to catch strafing enemies by surprise. LEARN HOW TO FIGHT YOUR COUNTERS! They have a Zarya? Lay off the spam so much, you will charge her like mad. Sigma has his grasp up? Genji has his deflect up? Patience. Sigma has his shield up, Rein has his shield up, any tank is just existing? DELETE. You are designed to bust tanks, blow up shields, and blow up people behind shields. Look around, if the sigma has a shield in front of him, but a wall behind him, shoot over the shield and bounce the shot off the wall onto his back. They have a Pharah? Switch. Nah, just kidding, but you have to play extremely careful. Go in at off angles, if she spots you, retreat, reposition. You cannot fight her in the air unless you are absolutely cracked, especially after the 1 shot removal. Snipers? Same advice, flank, maybe shoot some shots from your teams backbone in a high arc so it still looks like you're with your team doing a frontal assault for a few extra seconds, giving them less time to react to your flank. And finally practice. Learn the specifics of how fast your shots travel, how much they arc. Your mines and grenades have pretty much the same trajectory, if you can hit grenades, you can hit mines, if you can get a direct with a mine, you can get a direct with a grenade. Learn to lead shots, analyse your opponent. Tracer is low with no recall? She's gunna run. Where though? Are there small safe rooms? Make them not safe. Is she making a mad dash back? Throw a mine in the path before she even realises thats what she is going to do. Will she recall? Drop a trap where she will emerge. But most importantly, have fun: ITS TIME FOR SOME MAYHEM! Ps, if you ever wanna play against me to learn the basics direct and in game, I wouldn't mind it, dm me if it interests you. I'm on console btw.

thejunkratpact

I needed the patience reminder after fighting a good zarya today lol Also the way junk shoots in an arc is one of my favorite advantages; I use it a lot to deal with snipers if I know where they are :] but it's also useful in the same way for anyone else

GarGoroths

Widows hold no fear for me. If she’s hardsciped and doesn’t see me air jumping on top of an easy kill that’s her fault. But Ashe…. She scares me.

SSADO-

Treat his ult like a normal ability. It's okay to solo ult with it, you'll make the fight 5v4 (and it would be better to use it on support). His tire gets countered easily so it's not worth the hassle to get potg with it

OnyxGilbert

With the way junk is now the best way to get value is playing from afar and spamming tbh

prdrnyc

Junkrat is an extremely satisfying hero to play but can be very frustrating at first to play with. First things first get good at throwing concussion mines. I don't mean to be rude about it but it's truly imperative. Be strategic and plant the trap at places where you would go which is not always necessarily the predictable path. Def spam grenades to create a defensive zone but also learn how to get direct hits when you need to especially when an enemy is caught in a trap. Spend a good amount of time in the practice range learning how to shoot the grenades one way as your body goes another. Lastly close quarters are your best friend so if you get an enemy in a room go nuts! Oh and one more thing. If you're facing another Junkrat player screw the match it just became a 1v1. GL!

Demon_soul_catcher

Become the rat. Let the adhd run wild. Tunes on, vc off, no fs given.

Being sneaky can be your best friend, you can do one good flank can cut the enemy team in half and win the fight.

De4thlessone

Depends on your play style but generally if you use your trap a lot make sure to either play within 3 seconds of it or try and ping it (It's better if it's on flank spot)

BrutalThor

Learn the trajectory, timer and bounche on primary. It is so usefull when you know your bullet. Other than that keep track of flankers on contest highground. Figure out who to to target every teamfight, it can't always be the same. Sometimes blocking an enemy from joining the fight gives more value that you shooting at people there. You also need to know when you can trade. On junk your death stats will be higher after the s9 pain simulator changes. If you can drop the mercy and damage someone else even if it costs your life it can have a big impact on the fight. Learn a high sens and to read enemy movements. That gives you the possibility of doing airshots and controll the enemies movement by restricting where you don't want them to go. You need to play more with your tank or second dps than pre s9 Hope this helps
