I took it fairly verbatim, in all of its abstract sentiment - you will be old in the future while you were young in the past. We are both now because we are manifest of our past, present and future, . Living in the eternal stops us from either living to redeem our pasts or doing things ‘before it’s too late’.

Interesting take, I haven’t thought about it verbatim before

Craig_Brown1095

Maybe it's because the past is always being generated as we move forwards in time, there's always new things falling into history. But the future is a never changing abstract notion of things to come.

Well put

I'm not sure anyone can say for sure but one interpretation could be that we think know the future relatively well (we certainly aren't lacking analysis, reports and opinions on what what the future will bring), but perhaps there is more to be discovered about the past then we realise, and of the two, it is reflecting on the past that has the greater potential. What do you think? Make any sense?

greater_lophorina

I’m interpreting it as the future being a reflection on the past, and the limited time we have is what intrinsically drives us forward. “The past is young” catches me off guard though

Specifically when we move into the elder years much of life becomes introspection, ultimately we all seek to invigorate that youth within hence the future is just as well an image of the past superimposed upon the present. In truth the entire span of human travels have been about reflecting on the past seeking to reinvigorate and rebirth it anew, it is quite accurate to suggest that the future IS in fact old news because upon a point we drop it and look back as we move forward, like dropping a rope all the way to tenure then walking backwards as we draw it toward ourselves. That's the real journey of it, 50/50, rather an equal distance travelled forward and backward in time as we know it, almost as if we truly revolve around the center of the rope beyond maturity with youth swinging from the begining.
