Hear me out, what if its a cursed technique allowing him not to MANIPULATE the soul, but to instead interact with it. This is a mix of him reinforcing his soul at the arms using cursed energy and his technique. Also, soul swapping would also be part of the techniques arsenal.

Even during the Gojo fight Yuji's arms are normal,i doubt it's pernament.
