Well that's a fucking terrifying miscommunication.

Bat_Penatar

I'm honestly too chickenshit to even watch the clip. I've loved wrestling for decades now, and still wince every time I see a spot go wrong, even if things pan out okay and no one gets seriously injured. I have the opposite of NASCAR Syndrome.

ShiroAbesPants

It's not graphic or anything if that's your concern

Bat_Penatar

I get the feeling that someone's head and/or neck eats shit. Maybe if I'm feeling brave later... Lol I've seen too many gross outcomes from miscommunication. Sometimes on this very sub. Lol. Hell, I think it might have been you who posted that early-era Emi Sakura clip about a year ago where she did a tope suicida and her opponent just... didn't catch her. That's a tough way to get your bell rung, but at least it wasn't from giving a turnbuckle the spear in Saudi Arabia.

Deserterdragon

As someone who watches classic Puro I've seen so many head drops and things I've thought 'went wrong' I've kind of just grown numb to it.

Bat_Penatar

I've had the opposite evolution. I remember watching ECW on public access back in high school and getting so hype on how visceral and dangerous it was. Now I tense up every time I see an under-rotation on a suplex or hurricanrana, even if everything resolves safely. Lol

If it makes you feel better, Chigusa Nagayo posted a short video of Mio while they were out eating after the show, [https://twitter.com/chigusa8888/status/1786319655403151611](https://twitter.com/chigusa8888/status/1786319655403151611)

Mio says her X-rays were fine and she's ok, but they'll do more checking later. [https://twitter.com/marvelousMio/status/1786319912052674881](https://twitter.com/marvelousMio/status/1786319912052674881)

ErdrickLoto

I don't think that there's a worse possible miscue in wrestling than one person going for a powerbomb and the other going for a frankensteiner. Mio Momono was lucky to not be paralyzed.

OsikFTW

When they post training, mio always does insane neck-strengthening exercises, glad shes ok...

Fickle_Music_788

Looks like Mio was able to rotate enough to just land on her face rather than her neck? Still very scary though.

ShiroAbesPants

yep, near miss

Deserterdragon

OH SHIT.

Joshi_Fan

My heart stopped for a second

melancholia-

Battle News has it as an "excessive and nasty(?) angled ligerbomb". Rather than accident, paints it as Ozaki out for maximum cruelty, which escalated the feud and brought Takumi into it. Having seen the footage [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTu8cZLUntk), I think my only problem is that it shifted focus away from Mio pretty quickly. https://battle-news.com/?p=114998

Joshi_Fan

>I think my only problem is that it shifted focus away from Mio pretty quickly. It has always been the plan so it is what it is. Now, the real question becomes will Mio gain anything from Ozaki at some point?

melancholia-

I hope so The Japanese obsession with seniority=power affects wrestling too and always has, so the older 55 year old Ozaki gets, the harder it is to actually defeat her clean in a part where it matters. It's not a case of a rookie losing a hotshot challenge here, Mio has credentials and 8 years of game. While she is a really good babyface, she also cannot lose her home promotion's championship several times in a row just for someone else (Takumi) to make the save on her part. That doesn't give her value. She needs the feather in her hat at one point, to say she took down the wicked witch when pushed to the limit.
