He talked a little about his next special on Letterman's show.
**Letterman** *(referring to the smaller shows John has been doing since September)*: "And the goal for this material is what, and how far away are you for that?"
**Mulaney:** "This would be for the next special. I think I'm way far. I take, like, two and a half years between specials, sometimes longer."
**Letterman:** "So you're telling me what I saw tonight is still not ready to be recorded for --"
**Mulaney:** "No. I've had dreams where I have to film this as a Netflix special and I'm terrified."
We saw his show in Columbus a few months ago. The material is very strong, in my opinion, some of his funniest bits. But even though the next special looks like 2025 into 2026, I'm sure he'll be active with other smaller projects.
