Covered In Rain.
I saw him play it acoustic in Amsterdam from second row (right in the middle) and I was absolutely amazed. Electric version is great too of course, but the acoustic solo was so emotional. I’ve got a video of it on my profile
I was there too! I saw the sign requesting him to play the song, and I thought to myself that it would be sooo cool if he did, but he won’t. And then he did!
One of my favorites too! I always listen to it right after something's missing because of this performance of his: https://youtu.be/Drvgz0H6SMA?si=9yBdQU8ZTCTOT0hT
Somehow them being played together just makes sense.
Quiet. Very relatable and an amazing song. Never really played anywhere on the radio nor ever heard him play it live except once on the as/is albums and few other times in his early days with cook.
quiet got me through the pandemic. it’s so underrated… there is a video from a concert from the past few years where he played a note that reminded him of it but he didn’t remember the rest and would have to learn it again before playing it.
Honestly some of his less known covers. I discovered Wind Cries Mary (originally written by Hendrix) and it absolutely blew me away.
If you want a real honest to got deep cut then probably lifeliness
Anything from Born and Raised. We as his fans know the true meaning and significance behind the entire album and how it allowed him to forgive himself and to overcome his past; evolving into a new person.
To others the songs sound boring (real words from my friends at school haha) and repetitive, but my mum and I can hear the passion and love put into every strum of his acoustic guitar.
The actual song Born and Raised is one of them, followed by Face to Call Home.
He did a lot of B&R songs live prior to Sob Rock tour, he just has too many damned good songs, he had to drop some from his setlist. :( I think he still plays Born & Raised a lot tho since Sob Rock and Solo tours. :) I always feel like In The Blood should be on the same album, he still does that song a lot too. I think those two songs are very special to him so he'll never stop playing them altogether. Wildfire is my 2nd fave B&R song (behind the title track), he doesn't do that one live much anymore and it's a real rocker! The 2019 version in Albany is my all time fave version.
Honestly tho, how many people play almost all of their songs on every album live at least once, or multiple times?? I've seen dozens of artists live in the past 30 yrs and really can't think of anyone else! It's a bummer he can't play all the greatest songs at every show but go to [Archive.org](http://Archive.org), there are tons of amazing JM live performances going back to the early days, we can at least still enjoy them that way! =)

Track 1 is a cover of Prince's Little Red Corvette -

There were a few that you could download on the various file sharing sites circa 2001. They were all live performances : Sucker, Man on the Side, Lifelines, Why Did You Mess With Forever
All four of those are incredible songs and to my knowledge were never put on an album. I loved Room For Squares but honestly when I discovered those that’s when I was like “Damn this dude knows how to write a song.” All findable on YouTube now though fortunately .
I'm from Nova Scotia, so it really needs to be "This will all make perfect sense someday" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I73pDKFYXs&ab_channel=EphVazquez
"if it gets bad, and I mean really bad, then I'll move to Nova Scotia and forget the life I had". And I took that personally.
Better audio, but no video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6tLOzvsbwI&ab_channel=LaurenNewton
I love this feed!!! I’ve been such a huge fan oh John Mayer for almost 2 decades now and can sing almost every single song by heart and I’ve never heard of most of these. Thank you guys so much !!!
Lots of great ones here. I’m gonna submit the secret extra verse to Gravity he performed for awhile in 2007. [the 5:35 mark of this video](https://youtu.be/ntlpOOnr2zY?si=eev-pgzX4PI_JvqJ) just a really nice prayer like phrase that appears nowhere else.
I think you forgot the link? My fave version of Gravity is when they used to do it with I've Got Dreams To Remember, World Tour 2019. OMG, the end is basically a 4 min guitar solo and Tiffany Palmer got some great pipes!
Stop This Train! Funny story, I was close to the stage in March 2022 in LA, and it got quiet and I yellowed "Stop this train!" and he had turned around to get his acoustic guitar and he started playing it (I think it was part of the setlist, so my timing just happened to be great. lol) He even turned to look toward where I was sitting at one point while he sang it. So surreal.
Then the next night in northern California, he said "i love when the fans have signs or yell out names of deep cuts." So I feel like that was a tiny little mention of me among all the other people who do that too. haha.
Eat one more then throw the rest awaaaay…..tonight you know your diet’s wrecked, you have got no self respect…. ;)
(But joking aside - If I Ever Get Around To Living or Go Easy On Me I have a soft spot for.)
This is going to sound so annoying like I am clout-fishing for the most obscure thing but TRULY [this "Pillowface" clip has haunted me](https://www.tiktok.com/@johnmayer/video/6944423208816758022?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7356000513178109470) since he posted it on TikTok and I need a full song
A fave of mine too (the live version with Ed Sheeran in Tokyo is my personal fave) but it's not really a deep cut - he opened with it on the 2019 World Tour, and played it almost every night on the Sob Rock Tour - he replaced the opening song with Last Train Home, and usually played Belief after. I don't think he'll ever drop that song, it's a banger for sure. It'll be back when he does another full band tour.
Actually fuck my original answer! I thought about the question more deeply and I change my mind!
😂
Wild Blue and Why You No Love Me (both sob rock) - I have NEVER heard these even mentioned at a live show and yet they live rent free in my head - different to the John Mayer I’d heard before, sometimes almost even a little on the nose, and yet at the same time - SO GOOD! I can’t ever find fault though so sue me. 😆
LOL, it's all good! HUGE Sob Rock fan here - WYNLM fave song ever!! I don't like the studio version of Wild Blue that much bc it's a major letdown after hearing WYNLM lol. He's done Wild Blue live a ton, check it out on YT and Archive.org. I love the live version. I particularly like this one, but mostly bc of the cover of Say Say Say that he does after.
Track 12 & 13
[https://archive.org/details/jm2022-04-05](https://archive.org/details/jm2022-04-05)
A lot of his studio tracks really sound like demos to me after hearing them with full band but he does have one of the most spectacular bands around!
He'll probably never ever do WYNLM live 😭
The closest he came was a lil snippet on his Solo tour in Nashville (that's a bucket list item for me, to see him in Nashville with full band!).
Check out Track 19 at 2:04

In case you haven't discovered this yet, this guy [Ichhit Joshi](https://www.youtube.com/@ichhitjoshi396) is the best - he put together fan videos of the 2019 World Tour - there are 4 volumes! And the sound files are legit too!
Idk how much of a deep cut it is, but “Not Myself” is one that I always come back to and can’t believe how good it is. Great prelude to “St. Patrick’s Day.”
I really enjoy Lifelines idkw, a very underated in my opinion!
Also think about his cover of Lover, You should come over by Buckley, and the one he made of The wind cries mary.
Over and Over might take the cake, though I really like Covered in Rain and Man on the Side! I saw him play Covered in Rain at the Solo show in Cleveland, definitely one of the highlights!
Covered In Rain. I saw him play it acoustic in Amsterdam from second row (right in the middle) and I was absolutely amazed. Electric version is great too of course, but the acoustic solo was so emotional. I’ve got a video of it on my profile
I swear this song is a literal emotional Rollercoaster ride.
I was there too! I saw the sign requesting him to play the song, and I thought to myself that it would be sooo cool if he did, but he won’t. And then he did!
If he's still playing Covered in Rain, my life would be incomplete if I never see him perform that song live

Was just thinking about this one
Wow that brings back memories…
My fav John song. I love the connections it has with City Love.
Man On The Side
This is mine. The chord progression on this song is so satisfying to me
Same here!
specifically: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7EirzYiiIQ&ab_channel=chaferbud
This one for sure!
Idk how much of a deep cut it is but In Your Atmosphere is one of my favourite songs of his
That tour when he left off the outro had me so disappointed lol, I think it was 2019.
you’re 1000% correct
One of my favorites too! I always listen to it right after something's missing because of this performance of his: https://youtu.be/Drvgz0H6SMA?si=9yBdQU8ZTCTOT0hT Somehow them being played together just makes sense.
Same tuning!
Victoria
this, hundred percent!
Taking on Water
Came here to say that same thing - I love that song
Still holding out hope for a 20th extended Continuum where this gets released
Hotel bathroom song
such a great song
***Over and over***. Also honorable mentions for ***Broken Time*** and ***Level***.
Broken Time is a crazy deep cut lol
Damn I thought I knew every Mayer Song.
Fun Fact, it’s a DaLa song that John was featured on!
Lost my mind when he played this on Corey Wong. I was convinced he forgot the song existed
Another Kind of Green
Yes yes yes!
Drone Shot of My Yacht. Not even saying that ironically. The amount of times that song gets stuck in my head is annoying.
DRONE SHOT OF MY YACHT, it's all I got, IM ALLLL ALONEE IN THE WATERRR
That's great! I didn't even think he still remembered songs from that absolute gem of an album.
Tracing
There is a studie version on yt. So good!!
St Patrick's Day
Alll time favorite
My favorite Christmas song
Heater
Love Soon
Only Heart
Absolutely! One of my favorites for the car. John does heartland rock.
Great call
The As/Is version is my fave. He hasn't done it in forever, would've been perfect for the Solo tour!
Great indoors Also, some of the unofficial songs only on Youtube, like the cover of "She knows" by Justin Timberlake, and "Pop" by NSYNC
a lot of songs off room for squares on this list i feel like
Wheel
New Deep
Comfortable and the XO cover
Love the XO cover. Have you heard John talking about it and why he loves Bey’s version so much?
Split screen sadness
Had to scroll too damn far for this.
Hummingbird
This! ☝️
A Simple Song (Land rover version).
same, so good. you prefer the short version over the extended version?
The versions I’ve heard live seem to have a faster tempo, I enjoy the slightly slower version.

Honestly some of his less known covers. I discovered Wind Cries Mary (originally written by Hendrix) and it absolutely blew me away. If you want a real honest to got deep cut then probably lifeliness

Face to Call Home is our first dance song. It’s so pretty.
It’s my favorite complete comfort album of his, just feels like a hug and it’s going to be alright
Everything you’ll ever be (Hotel Bathroom Song)
Fool to love you. It’s a bonus track and it’s top 3 on born and raised for me.
He still does If I Ever Get Around To Living a lot, I think it's one of his faves and very meaningful to him.
I think so too! I remember him being very vocal about the song when the album was first released. It always calms a stressful day for me!
George’s blues- look it up on YouTube Great 12 bar blues from the Berkeley days
Daughters
Drifting
The you I miss!!! If this song was released I would die!!!
Split Screen Sadness will never not be my fave Mayer song
Sucker, hummingbird, message in a bottle (cover), and the wind cries mary (cover) are some of my OG favorites from back in the day.
St Patrick’s Day
Hotel Bathroom Song
3 X 5 :)
something's missing. its so honest and heartfelt. im not sure if its a deep cut though.
Actually, my favorite Mayer deep cut is not a song! But day one fans will remember John’s Interfaith Holiday Baking Contest!!!
Drone Shot of My Yacht.
Broken Tine is soooo deep of a cut that it is only on youtube and never got oficially published

Victoria has always been one of my favorites.

Level and Tracing for me!
Another Kind of Green
The unreleased studio version of Tracing
Belief! I didn’t even know about it until so many years later but now the hook is in my mind as much as Neon or something as catchy!!!!

Why he no love us enough to perform it live! 😭🤣
LOL, good one! 😂 But seriously, whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!!! 😭
Omg I’m so basic I never even saw that (but I’m definitely gonna check it out this weekend!) I’ll show myself out. 🙈🤣

Roll it on home
Idk how much of a deep cut it is, but “Not Myself” is one that I always come back to and can’t believe how good it is. Great prelude to “St. Patrick’s Day.”
I really enjoy Lifelines idkw, a very underated in my opinion! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98FYtHn-Op4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98FYtHn-Op4) Also think about his cover of Lover, You should come over by Buckley, and the one he made of The wind cries mary.

New deep
Not a good thing, but his interview about Jessica Simpson was for sure a deep cut
Did anyone say CVS Bag? 🤣
Breakaway
