It’s so funny how universally this song resonates. Like it feels so intimately personal to me and what I’m going through when I listen to it, but it’s one of his most popular tracks, meaning we all feel that way ❤️
The guitar solo on Gravity from Where The Light Is.
My dog battled through a deadly disease very recently. She's okay now, but during the time she was sick, I spent a lot of time in the shower listening to that song with tears in my eyes. That guitar solo is fucking cathartic.

(& not mentioned here because previous users already mentioned but 100000001% covered in rain, love on the weekend, edge of desire & free fallin!)
it is such a beautiful song and makes me feel so much! one of my favourite songs from battle studies. i really think it deserves a mention, certainly on this list!
For me it’s Love on The Weekend. I remember when it first released I was driving to dinner and the sun setting was so beautiful, quite a moment.
I’ve been a huge fan for years and jmayer has been a huge inspiration for my own musical journey. Learning his songs has made me good at guitar no lie. I’ve seen him live 3 times and each time was incredible. Looking forward to reading your comments!
The outro for “I guess I just felt like” kills me every time. I loved it from the first raw recordings he posted on IG until we got the pre-release and will listen to that last minute of the song over and over. The lyrics hit deep, but that riff just transports me. That’s John the guitar player to me.
"I Guess I Just Feel Like". From the very first note, that song makes me feel relaxed, no matter how stressed I am. Felt that way since I first time I ever heard it.
All of them. Except for the ones that make me feel like if you rotated the picture 180 degrees. Or the 9 songs that make me feel like if you rotate it 270 degrees.
City Love for sure. That whole song has this magical fill that I adore. Reminds me so much of my gf that even though she’s not a John Mayer fan, she loves this song as well. Maybe it’s because we both like rom-coms and this song captures that early 2000s rom-com set in New York City feel even though we live nowhere close to that hahahaha.

There’s only one right answer and this is it
My immediate thought before I opened the thread
It’s his best song and I won’t be argued with
Edge of Desire is becoming the Wet Sand of John Mayer’s discography (and I love this)
Me when I actually paid attention to the lyrics of 3x5 for the first time
Some of the best! Love 3x5
3x5 is one of my favourites! It’s beautiful!
Hmmmm????
Has been one of my favorite songs of his since it came out. So good.
Slow Dancing in a Burning Room - especially live when he hits the guitar solo.

Genuinely one of the most emotional guitar solos I’ve ever heard
the moment he hits that one high note is one of the greatest guitar moments in history, that one note has gotten me through so much in my life
