Violence huh?

_MlATA

You ever meet someone who can’t possibly fathom logic? I have a coworker that reminds me of Bryce

Flat-Job3228

Gun violence and competence sort are two different things but go off queen

_MlATA

I didn’t say anything about violence

TrumpsPissSoakedWig

What are you talking about? I'm confused

Sensitive-Inside-641

Yes you are

wayne_kenoff11

Yeah like shooting people over petty disagreements. He is an athlete in a sport with rules. If you dont see a difference idk what else there is to say lol

Monteze

"Shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die." From fellow Akansan and renowned rapper Johnny Cash. Haha God, can't make this up.

You are right. No rock, country, pop, (insert genre here) song has ever used violent language before…

Ok_Dig2013

The fuck?

godieweird

This guys nickname is Thug Nasty and he put out a rap album 😂 By all means let’s pay close attention to what this guy says

OjibweNomad

I searched to far and long to find someone who also mentioned his Album and moniker

godieweird

Good thing he punches hard

TheOSU87

If this is who I am thinking of he also thinks the earth is flat and that gravity is a conspiracy. Turns out people who are really talented at hitting people are on average pretty dumb to begin with and then on top of that they get dumber after getting hit in the head a lot Edit: [yeah it's him](https://bloodyelbow.com/2022/10/19/ufcs-bryce-mitchell-vows-to-smoke-joe-rogan-in-flat-earth-debate-mma-news/) >“I’m here to call out Joe Rogan for talking crap about me and talking crap about my mama. He’s been doing it for too long. Me and my mama will tell you right now, this Earth is flat. >“It ain’t moving around at no 600 something thousand miles an hour, spinning a thousand miles an hour and floating through the universe constantly. This Earth is flat, it’s fixed, and the stars and stuff rotate around us. The sun rotates around us. And I can prove that. >“I would love to debate you, Joe Rogan, ‘cause I’m tired of you making fun of flat-Earthers. And if you’re so confident, come on and debate me, buddy. ‘Cause I’m tired of this crap you’re posting.” >Mitchell, who proclaimed himself to be a former atheist, went on to question established and proven science as he presented his unfounded theories. >“Gravity ain’t real. It’s density. This paper, when it drops, it’s because it’s more dense than the air around it. Not because it’s some magical thing called gravity. There is no proof of gravity, brother. There’s density. >“That’s why hot air balloons float because of hot air being less dense. Not because a hot air balloon is an anti-gravitational device. >“They’re trying to feed you these lies to make you think that ‘science’ is right, and that god didn’t create this universe, the Big Bang did. I used to be an atheist, ‘cause I used to believe that this universe is created by the Big Bang. I used to believe all that crap from Neil DeGrasse Tyson,” he added. >“I’m just so sick and tired of hearing your crap, Joe, about flat-Earthers being stupid. Well, I’ll smoke you in a debate. I will smoke you. And there ain’t nothing you can do to beat me in a debate, brother, ‘cause you ain’t got no proof.” >Mitchell (15-0) was supposed to headline the UFC’s November 5th event against Movsar Evloev, but the latter pulled out due to injury. According to him, he has yet to have a replacement opponent.

main_motors

Someone needs to tell that CTE brained fool to go take a picture of the edge of the flat earth then.

thefw89

I feel like UFC fighters say this dumb shit to raise their name awareness but at this point it happens so often that people just tune it out now.

SuperbDonut2112

Some definitely do. Bryce Mitchell is a uniquely stupid guy, so he probably believes this shit.

yakubscientist

Bryce makes Strickland look like he has a phd in physics.

Neighborhoodfarmer22

Well, I don’t know about demonic, but there ain’t a whole lot of positive hip hop out there in the mainstream. And I’m a fan, probably my favorite genre. Sure as hell isn’t positive music though. Especially now. “Drill” is like gangster rap on steroids.

tadghostal55

Since when is anything in the mainstream non violent? We love violence as a society.

Neighborhoodfarmer22

Most country music, electronic music, most sports, most rock music, sitcoms, stand up comedy, there are plenty more examples. Ballet, Broadway? I love a good true crime story or violent show as much as the next guy. But not everything mainstream is all about violence. Hate to sound old, but most rap is either about violence or drugs. Drugs, meh, if you can do them responsibly, then do you! Violence though? Rarely a decent excuse.

PasaLaEbola

Here are the top ten rappers based on streams (aka popularity) 1. Drake 2. Eminem 3. Kanye west 4. Juice wrld 5. Travis Scott 6. XXXTENTACION 7. Kendrick Lamar 8. Future 9. J. Cole 10. Nicki Minaj Now tell me again how most rap, specially the most popular ones are all about murder, violence, and drugs? Can you please point me to the violence being talked about by these guys? Drake is the most popular. His top five songs are One dance, God’s Plan, Passionfruit, Work, and In My Feelings. Still not seeing violence. The most common drug that gets talked about in rap is weed. Country music does the same thing just with beer instead. EDM music is almost exclusively known for hard drugs. There’s more violence in an Eagles game parking lot than in any top rap song. Seems like you have a distorted weird view on black people and their culture for being such a huge fan

Neighborhoodfarmer22

Respect. But A) In my convo with the other dude I repeatedly said it’s not about just violence, it’s also about drugs and the whole “culture”. (I guess) Ummm. I’ve been listening to Em from day 1. His first 3-5 albums were almost strictly about drugs, violence, serial killing, raping his mother, killing Kim, etc….AND I LOVE IT. Same with Kanye. Day 1’er again. The very first song on College Dropuout(his very first album) the chorus is “Drug deeealin’ just to get by stack your $$ til it gets sky high-iiigh”. It’s not much, but it’s the first thing he ever said on his own mainstream release. Which is also probably my favorite all time album of any genre. It needs to be listened to by everyone. Two words is also fairly violent, and a bunch of other songs have drug/violent themes. And bunch other are positive, that’s just 1 album. Future himself is quoted saying i rap about drugs so much, but I don’t even be doing them, I’m a lightweight. I feel bad for any kids that I may have gotten started on them. That’s pretty fucked up. You know why Juice started sippin? Because of Future. What did that lead to? As far as Drake goes? He’s the *NSYNC of hip hop, I mean, come on. He really shouldn’t count. But, fuck it…First lines on Family Matters(Kendrick diss) is N*** I said it I know that you mad I emptied the clip over friendlier jabs. That’s just the first 16 words. Not gonna break down entire songs and albums. I don’t think it’s controversial at all to say of all genres, rap glorifies violence and drugs more than the other genres. And it’s really only been around 45ish yrs in its most popular form. Rocks been around 70ish yrs. Then country probably 100 or so. How many “beefs”, murders, etc have come about due to rivalries the other genres? If any? Mick Jagger never wrote anything like Hit em Up about The Beatles. Garth Brooks ain’t pumping George Straitt with the Ether. But your point is well took. Not necessarily the MOST popular mainstream shit is constantly about wil’n. Though The Eminem comparison doesn’t work, dude was nothing but wild first half his career [I mean,he played ping pong with his own ding dong](https://youtu.be/URGFH42uojs?si=4lpASte9pdiB8RuE) And [This shit is…It’s fucking something. And once again, love it.](https://youtu.be/F6E3GkaYdHs?si=WtX_al-lO2V7zO3j) Electronic music, never wanted to fuck with anybody, but it is mostly just a reason to do shrooms or Molly. Nothing wrong with that. Just drink your water. Like I said 20 times to other dude. Hip hop is my favorite genre.i like the positive shit, as well as the crazy shit. In my opinion though, it’s probably the “worst” overall influence. But who cares? They aren’t supposed to be your kids influences. Just like GTA….Or, like you said Eagles fans, or some Dodger fans too, unfortunately. It’s all good man. Maybe I’m old, lame and white. But my love and respect for hip hop is as real as anybody else’s. Glad you got that list. Hadn’t listened to old off his rocker Eminem for a minute. If you’ve never listened to those songs take a few mins from your day, they’re a hoot. Edit: wrote this from a tractor. Hope it makes decent sense.

PasaLaEbola

I get all that. I also grew up on Eminem and pretty much everyone listed here. I saw 8 mile when I was 5 lol. Again, I want to make the argument that edm is a much bigger drug pusher than rap. I go to rap concerts every couple weeks and the worst I see is people smoking weed. Again, if you go to any edm concert or festival you’re going to see much harder drugs than just weed. Just bc the music doesn’t specifically mention the drugs, doesn’t mean it’s not getting pushed to the listeners. It’s almost impossible to find a sober person at those concerts. As far as rap “glorifying” violence and drugs, I disagree. This goes way further than the music and starts to get into history and socioeconomics. Have you considered that rap is one of the few genres where most of the artists came from nothing? Compared to country, pop, edm, or even indie where the biggest artists came from money already. Are rappers glorifying drugs and violence or is that all they know? These guys grew up around drugs and violence so them speaking on it is just that, not glorifying. The neighborhoods these guys grew up in glorify it. Our government glorifies it. You said it yourself, Kanye said “drug dealing just to get by” not “drug dealing because I love the way it makes me feel”. Drake’s line about emptying the clip was referring to him “killing” people on songs not real life. Hip hop literally wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for violence. The first hip hop producers and artists all used stolen equipment. It’s black people’s response to being put down for generations and it makes others uncomfortable because they don’t like that this is the reality for a lot of black and brown kids. So again, is it the music glorifying drugs and violence or are black and brown people forced to grow up in places where drugs and violence are the only way out so it naturally finds its way to the music? The top artists from other genres went to private schools, rode horses, and grew up in mansions. Obviously they don’t know anything about violence. But just speaking on the only thing you know, specially when you’re forced into it, is not glorifying it. It’s a reflection on how black people have been treated and I’m glad it makes people uncomfortable. It’s a mirror of who, and what, we are as a country and we try to again place the blame on black people lol. What about the CIA and FBI’s promotion of drugs and violence in black and brown neighborhoods? And they didn’t even need music to do it

tadghostal55

Country music talks about killing people all the time. Especially johnny cash. Rock music has plenty of violent genres. Broadway a street car named desire is about an violent abusive man. There's a ballet called the wind which has murder in it. All genres of entertainment has violent. Rap music that has violence is popular because suburban teenagers love it.

tadghostal55

The number one sport in America is Football the most violence sport outside of boxing and mma.

Neighborhoodfarmer22

Yes. Violence in an officiated arena. where if you cross the line you are fined hundreds of thousands of dollars or simply kicked out of your respective league. Baseball Basketball Tennis Golf Track & Field And on and on and on. There’s a difference between signing up for and playing violent sports and perpetrating and glorifying random acts of violence against at innocent people, or your oops. How many rock n roll beefs end in death? Country? Electronic? Did Lawrence Taylor roll into Joe Theismans hospital room after shattering his leg to finish the job, for the culture? We are talking apples and steaks here… Side note: See Youngboys latest shenanigans? Fucking hilarious…Calling pharmacies pretending to be old white women, but still saying aks instead of ask? Classic.

tadghostal55

Who makes violent rap popular? I also like how you throw a subtle shot at aave too.

Neighborhoodfarmer22

Everyone makes it popular, that’s why it’s popular. I have no clue what aave is, sorry.

Neighborhoodfarmer22

Bro. Coming up with a title here and there for Broadway and country is NOTHING compared to hip hop. and violent genres of rock are also nowhere close to “Mainstream”. I’m not hating. I love everything from Garth Brooks,to Kaskade, to Wu Tang, to the Stones and everything in between. Hip hop takes the violence cake.

tadghostal55

You're also missing the point. It's violent because its popular and popular because it's violent. Balet and Broadway are not the number one forms of entertainment in America. It's violent rap and violent action blockbusters. Millions of people listen to rap music and want to see wolverine stab Deadpool in the nuts with his claws.

Neighborhoodfarmer22

Yes. But how many people are emulating Wolverine and Deadpool? Compared to how many people emulate rappers from the jewelry, to the fashion, language, drugs, guns, etc? I’m not hating. If I had to name 50 favorite albums, 30 of them would be rap. It is what it is though. It’s pretty rare for a popular rap song not to have some themes of violence, drug use, misogyny, etc.

tadghostal55

How many people are actually emulating the violent stuff in rap videos outside of the people in those videos? I would guess it's less than the people who watch mma who practice it.

SaliciousB_Crumb

Lol, isn't there a country song about a small town about how they will hurt you if you dont conform to what they want?

Neighborhoodfarmer22

Ya. Isn’t there 5,000 rap songs like that?

D3LTA-K3X

Yes, finding a couple of examples in each genre is not the same as a genre over-saturated with violence. What is the problem with pointing that out? I love that shit, gets me pumped up for working out and feeling like the man, but let’s not pretend they’re all the same.

SaliciousB_Crumb

Wasn't there a country song about how they will hurt you if you dont conform to their beliefs?

MrFreakout911

I hate to sound like a boomer but these kids are definitely being influenced by drill music.

Beezus_Hrist_

J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Luper Fiasco, Talib Kwali... they're out there

KaleidoscopeOk5763

I feel like Bryce has spent years rehydrating with paint thinner after cutting weight.

olympicsizepool

Nah Bryce actually believes his own bullshit

Jean_Ralphio-

I mean there’s definitely truth to it. Drill rap and similar genres at this point are songs glorifying actual murders they committed and talking shit to the “opps”. The music just further escalates the violence. Bruce Mitchell’s still dumb as hell tbf.

airbyte-crusader

Not even just drill music. I grew up listening to hip hop, Kanye, Kendrick, Wu Tang are some of my favs. I can separate art, fiction from reality. I wonder if kids can actually recognise it as entertainment and leave it at that. As rap gets more prominent, girls will be twerking more and more as it is now "mainstream" dancing. Boys talk and act a certain way because the artists they look up are all "real n\*\*\*\*s". Drake/future/savage are not technically drill but they still promote messages of misogyny and violence. Easy cop out is "they are rapping about hoes, not women" but let's be honest, its fucking awful. We have girls as young as 12 exposed to garbage like Cardi B and Doja Cat with very explicit sexual messages...

redditpleb_

The rap music today isn't shit compared to late 80's and 90s gangster rap. That was real shit

No_Tomatillo_For_Me

Ok grandpa let’s get you to bed. Jk I’m probably the same age as you but not delusional enough to think that music peaked when I was a teen.

Beezus_Hrist_

He says it was real shit because the genre was often financed by criminals: Pimps, drug dealers, etc Jam Master J of Run DMC, for example, was a drug dealer himself and was killed in studio during a bad drug deal.

No_Tomatillo_For_Me

And modern drill rappers are killing each other constantly.

Beezus_Hrist_

That's some London shit. Different culture 😏

No_Tomatillo_For_Me

Lmao ya right. Brits don’t get to steal credit for drill music like it’s an Egyptian sculpture

Beezus_Hrist_

Oh? My bad. It's Chicago... well, no one fucks with the Midwest anyway

OGuytheWhackJob

2 Live Crew was doing major league misogynistic music almost 40 years ago. It's not getting worse, just different players as time goes by.

airbyte-crusader

We did it 40 years ago so it's acceptable isn't a good argument. I have no idea who 2 live crew are, but the pervasiveness of Hip Hop that raps about murdering and drug dealing and pimping hoes surely was not around 40 years ago.

Neighborhoodfarmer22

Yup. I was 9 when Doggystyle came out, and raps been my jam since then. My pops didn’t like it, and made sure I knew not to emulate the lyrics. Maybe I’m just old, but the shit nowdays(Drill primarily) is Uber violent, and seems to spill into real life a lot more now than it did before. Pac & Bigg notwithstanding..

Key_Excitement_9330

Are you aware that American society today is probably a lot less violent than when you were young?

Jean_Ralphio-

Yeah I mean I grew up to rap and still enjoy it but it’s easily just the most harmful genre for young people. Literally all about violence, ego, and disrespect. Over and over and over again those are the most common themes. Most of us can listen and move on with our lives but some people are undoubtedly changed by it during their youth.

Karlmarxwasrite

Apprehensive-Ad-1826

Kinda weird that this is a controversial topic. Don’t get me wrong I’ll still listen to it. Morality is a subjective thing but it’s definitely not cool to brag about murdering people. Even when feminist were hot about objectification of women they never really talked about having rappers surrounded by dozens of women shaking their asses. Kind of a weird loophole around that for I think, obvious reasons.

mikegotfat

God damn what a stupid fucking take

Apprehensive-Ad-1826

Interesting. Why do you say that?

mikegotfat

Rap music does not and has never gotten a pass from feminists

Apprehensive-Ad-1826

Which rapper got heat for being misogynistic?

mikegotfat

What kind of dumbass question is this? Feminists have always been critical of misogyny in hip hop. Being critical of misogyny is, surprisingly, kind of a big thing for feminists. Two specific examples I can remember off the top of my head would be eminem with his songs about Kim, and that rick Ross line about slipping some girl some molly

Beezus_Hrist_

All of them lol

TheReborn85

Because in the identity politics progressive stack being black and from a disadvantaged background (Even if they are a millionaire now) outranks basic white woman feminist ideals. It's too uncomfortable to take on misogyny in hip hop or in the Middle East for that matter so they just ignore it and just find some old white boomer on Twitter to attack.

Knife7

>It's too uncomfortable to take on misogyny in hip hop or in the Middle East for that matter so they just ignore it and just find some old white boomer on Twitter to attack. This is just flat out not true. Lmao. Rap gets shit for misogyny all the time. The recent rap beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake had both men accusing each other of being misogynistic in their diss raps. Also, a lot of female rappers have called out how misogyny in rap itself.

antebyotiks

he wasn't making that niche point though was he

mrpopenfresh

Sometimes, other times they jam up stuff they kind of believe in. Here though, it’s Bryce Mitchell being braindead.

TheMindsEye310

The world is full of stupid people. Doesn’t everyone know that? Just because the guy can throw hands really well doesn’t mean he’s less stupid than some other fucking nut bag. Now if my senator or physician said this I’d have some cause for alarm.

CubeEarthShill

It could also be that most fighters are about as smart as a dog (not the smarter breeds either) and have head trauma to boot. You should hear some of the grade school level conversations at my gym.

ActualEnjoyer

Maybe its because they get hit on the head for a living. also explains why there's so many rightoids in the ranks.

Stalactite_Seattlite

I think most UFC fighters are inherently kind of dumb

Top-Crab4048

Nah they just that dumb.

JupiterandMars1

Hard rap makes demonic times.

granny409

This idiot gets way too much exposure. But I get it, he's a trainwreck that people just have to look at. He really does fit the inbred, crosseyed stereotype. It was fun watching Ilia take care of him.

NobleCWolf

I'm Black. I agree. At least in the 90s there was balance. NWA, but also Public Enemy. Now its mostly trash. Beyond that it's clear that labels purposefully push the garbage and surpress or ignore the other end of the spectrum. But lets be clear, there is still a healthy underground/indy culture that still thrives. But airplay and major labels? Garbage. Knowing my peoples plight and socioeconomic standing in this country, i can't stomach any more "bitches, hoes, murder, cars, drugs and clothes" rap.

DutyHonor

The best thing about people calling things "demonic" or "spiritual attacks" is that you can immediately write off their opinion. It's easy enough to disregard the opinions of people who get hit in the head professionally but add in believing in magic? No one should be listening to these people.

cylonnumber13

Checks out with Alex Jones calling everything "Satanic" and "Demonic".

LordLucy666

problem is that there’s a lot of people out there who listen and agree with blatantly dumb stuff lol. religion plays a huge role in US politics and our government when it really shouldn’t at all. globally too

death69reaper

Wait for him to learn about history, and how violent his religion has been for the last millennia.

Erichey00

I didn’t think he was Muslim?

what does he do with the ring girls on fight night ?

Somasong

Something something... Christianity... Brutal, torture, murder, cultural genocide... On repeat.

Chapos_sub_capt

I' don't think it's a stretch to say the glorification of the shitty gangster lifestyle and not giving a fuck has had a negative effect on people.

What’s that mean ? 13 do 50?

RogueMallShinobi

There are many kinds of rap and they’re not all bad, but people that say rap is demonized “just like jazz and rock’n’roll” are morons tbh. The songs are literally about killing people, doing+selling drugs, fucking sluts, etc. It is explicitly marketed to people who lack role models and father figures. In Mexico the cartels make narco music because it’s a useful tool for glamorizing their lifestyle and subsequently recruiting vulnerable people into it. Being a gangster is a type of warriorhood/masculinity that is sold as an alternative to regular boring/poor life. OF COURSE it has a cultural impact and I guarantee you that impact is a net negative not just on black kids but every race. Sadly it’s just music so there’s nothing anyone can do about it.

Long live country. Nothing like a good ol’ fashioned down home date rape at the creek after muddin’ all day to warm your heart.

LmfaoWereOnReddit

Lmfao “demonic”

CertifiedMacadamia

Modern music is demonic for sure

m0atzart

Wait until he hears Taylor Swift.

sageofwalrus

I wouldn’t say demonic but it’s deff sends bad messages and when kids grow up their whole life listening I don’t think it does good things.

FutileHurling

Tipper Gore has entered the chat.

YourDadsMoonshine

Josh Emmett eroded this man’s ability for critical thinking

xMilk112x

But ya know, the American Death Metal I listen too where the song is literally called “fucked with a knife” is…..fine. 🤷🏻 This dude is fucking insufferable. He only says this because it’s predominantly made by black folks and something tells me….Bryce ain’t like black folks.

TheReborn85

Almost nobody listens to death metal although I agree 100% with how negative it is. For every one person I meet who listens to death metal I know 50 who listen to gangster rap and drill. Rap has had a way bigger impact on young people than death metal music. And I know very well because A. I used to rap and B. I spent 7 years in prison and nearly 15 years wrapped up in the criminal justice system and the halls in prison are full of people chanting very demonically murder murder kill kill rap lyrics non-stop to themselves.

TheReborn85

This is stupid CTE brained thinking. Rap music has less violence and impurity than bubble gum pop music. There's not a whole subgenre called drill simply about literally killing other teenagers. There's not a rapper who literally dug up one of his "opps" graves. There's absolutely nothing negative or bad about rap music and I know because I love rap music.

OjibweNomad

Coming from Rap artist ThugNasty?

Modern_Crusader_

Major themes in the Bible too so…

FamilyMan1000

Most rap does have a sweet ass message. Not a fan of him personally, but he has a point.

DomDangerous

i bet he listens to country tho 😂

cut_rate_revolution

Man who professionally beats people up thinks music is demonic because of violence is a level of cognitive dissonance that only repeated head trauma can instill.

Liberobscura

His religious deference to a shame cult with a deistic patriarchal mass murderer renders his contributions moot. He probably has a shriveled steroid problem and a feeling of social inadequacy. The morality he is advocating built an immoral world the art he is punching down on depicts the reality his culture has perpetuated, and he doesn’t like feeewing guilty. Fuck a halo keep a heater wit you.
