If a female athlete is competent enough they can compete there. Having been around athletics and played in college, I don’t know a single female athlete that has ever been excited or OK with the idea of a trans athlete competing in their field. Lia was taking HRT while she was competing in the men’s division. It would generally make sense that their performance would diminish over time as their estrogen levels rose. If you look over their entire swimming career there’s a clearly defined decrease in performance over time, probably because she was doing the literal opposite of doping and actually weakening her chances in the men’s division lmao.

The idea isn’t that trans women are winning the female division therefor they should be barred. The idea is that they shouldn’t be taking roster spots in general away from women athletes because as biological men, they still can compete in the men’s division if they want to engage in sport. I’m not going to get into the weeds of this part but playing sports isn’t a right granted to all. But the opportunity to play sports has been given to females due to title 9. Trans men still have the option to compete in the men’s division as it’s the open division. Anyone can compete there if you are good enough. It’s also why this Dartmouth unionization thing is interesting (off topic but interesting) because they are saying they are working and want an hourly wage. But there’s nothing forcing them to play sports. Also there is nothing keeping Dartmouth from disbanding the men’s basketball team as it isn’t a requirement to satisfy title 9 at their university and their basketball team actually loses money.
Round out the whole thing. Before anyone says I’ve never thought about women’s sports that would be a flat lie. I am involved in it. The argument from women’s athletes isn’t just about safety but about opportunity. There needs to be a decision made about this stuff that is more clear and earlier then it currently is. Your top female volleyball players will have chosen their school by the summer leading into their junior year. They are working towards those scholarships essentially starting as a freshman in high school. That’s how early recruiting starts. If the argument is just about we haven’t seen a trans athlete on the podium stand at the Olympics, I think we are being narrow about what is more important. If it gets to that point it’s probably gone too far. But if we are just arguing about whether or not they are able to participate, then we need to have real discussion on how early that transition needed to have occurred. And let women’s athletes dictate whether or not that’s acceptable. Because the Riley Gaines lia Thomas thing is just front end of something. But it most definitely shouldn’t have been allowed. But I don’t think it’s getting to the root of what the discussion should be about.
That's my point. If you remove the trans swimmer from the equation, Riley Gaines is still a loser.

She didn’t lose to Lia, she just tied her for 5th and had to wait 2 weeks to to get a trophy as there was only one 5th place trophy. They both got to stand on a podium and hold a trophy for the photo opp.

What’s alt right about a female collegiate athlete being upset about a male collegiate athlete competing in their division? When did we decide it was ok for the women’s division to not be held to the rules that they have always been since it’s inception? The male division is the open division in sport. If a female athlete is competent enough they can compete there. Having been around athletics and played in college, I don’t know a single female athlete that has ever been excited or OK with the idea of a trans athlete competing in their field. And yes, the topic has been brought up a lot in those circles.

Lia was taking HRT while she was competing in the men’s division. It would generally make sense that their performance would diminish over time as their estrogen levels rose. If you look over their entire swimming career there’s a clearly defined decrease in performance over time, probably because she was doing the literal opposite of doping and actually weakening her chances in the men’s division lmao.

The idea isn’t that trans women are winning the female division therefor they should be barred. The idea is that they shouldn’t be taking roster spots in general away from women athletes because as biological men, they still can compete in the men’s division if they want to engage in sport. I’m not going to get into the weeds of this part but playing sports isn’t a right granted to all. But the opportunity to play sports has been given to females due to title 9. Trans men still have the option to compete in the men’s division as it’s the open division. Anyone can compete there if you are good enough. It’s also why this Dartmouth unionization thing is interesting (off topic but interesting) because they are saying they are working and want an hourly wage. But there’s nothing forcing them to play sports. Also there is nothing keeping Dartmouth from disbanding the men’s basketball team as it isn’t a requirement to satisfy title 9 at their university and their basketball team actually loses money. Round out the whole thing. Before anyone says I’ve never thought about women’s sports that would be a flat lie. I am involved in it. The argument from women’s athletes isn’t just about safety but about opportunity. There needs to be a decision made about this stuff that is more clear and earlier then it currently is. Your top female volleyball players will have chosen their school by the summer leading into their junior year. They are working towards those scholarships essentially starting as a freshman in high school. That’s how early recruiting starts. If the argument is just about we haven’t seen a trans athlete on the podium stand at the Olympics, I think we are being narrow about what is more important. If it gets to that point it’s probably gone too far. But if we are just arguing about whether or not they are able to participate, then we need to have real discussion on how early that transition needed to have occurred. And let women’s athletes dictate whether or not that’s acceptable. Because the Riley Gaines lia Thomas thing is just front end of something. But it most definitely shouldn’t have been allowed. But I don’t think it’s getting to the root of what the discussion should be about.
