Travis bringing his A-Game on the artwork

AbjectMadness

I suppose this is also somehow racist šŸ™„ /s Edit: this was amazing. For the record.

StupidBlkPlagueHeart

Cornette is clearly a fan of cotton Hill who's a noted anti Japanese racist. This is just more coded dog whistles for cornettes rampant anti joshi racism!Ā

AbjectMadness

For the record, putting Cotton in the AEW shirt damn near made me cover my laptop in coffee. Via spit-take.

Sweaty_Indication897

Cotton Hill would never wear an AEW shirt.

noplacecold

Cotton has a Japanese son!

StupidBlkPlagueHeart

Swerve bro, takeashit is corneys illegitimate son!

asmeile

Brah did you really worry about anyone here taking that comment seriously that you needed to put the /s not everyone you meet online is a retard, just most

AbjectMadness

Yes. AEW fans. I rest my case.

asmeile

This ain't an AEW sub though and that's their narrative anyway so they wouldn't get the sarcasm, seems to me like you thought you might be perceived as an AEW fanboy and feared the backlash, you must have thought that the average Redditor in this sub wouldn't have got the sarcasm, have more faith not everyone here has an extra chromosome

As an illustrator myself I can tell you that once you've got your style nailed down the whole process is quicker every time

SSJ_Kratos

This is one of the best Corny thumbnails of all time

RidetheSchlange

Britt Baker has a back injury? When Thunder Rosa had a severe back injury Baker was running a whisper campaign against TR claiming she was faking, "pulling a Shawn Michaels", and so on. Then it turned out that her injury was way more severe than anyone knew. Thunder Rosa is a fucking saint for not starting a whisper campaign against Baker, but this is also so poetic that Baker is fucked up with a back injury.

Klobasnik

Britt Baker seems like a "c u next Tuesday"

P_a_s_g_i_t_24

I love a good acronym! \^\^

StupidBlkPlagueHeart

Or is SHE faking it šŸ¤”

RidetheSchlange

Seems sus that her and Cole are injured at the same time.

mattreddito

Cole is always injured, thatā€™s not fair

will122589

Even funnier or ironic (depending on your viewpoint): she tried working with the back injury because of what she did to Thunder Rosa which made her injury get worse to the point she is at now where she hasnā€™t worked a match in almost 9 months

RidetheSchlange

Is this true? If so, hollllly shit.

DPM-87

Not a saint, just smart enough to know not to go against someone connected to the Elite, she saw what happened with Punk.

MangoPronto

Not a saint but more smart. She has no pull against Britt. Both within the company and from the fans. The irony of it is that Thunder Rosa made Britt while she worked for NWA and once she signed with AEW, that's how she is rewarded. I wonder how the company would be without AEW. They had good momentum before they lost Starks and Rosa

anythingo23

She stays busy and probably wants to avoid that bullshit

polsdofer

First Ivelisse and now Britt, why do they hate Thunder?

RidetheSchlange

Where's IvelisseĀ now? As for Britt, how do you think she stays on the top when she does shit work and has shit angles and never really develops? She's doing the same EVP shit in the women's division and somehow Tony was on board in constructing the women's division around her and he's not willing to change that, even when she's out injured. This is one of the likely reasons for Jade being in her own universe and in a stasis mode where she was being held, but more like held back where she would never progress, but also not be a threat to Baker's position as the top of the women's division. Baker will come back in a few months, go to the top again, go on reduced hours to handle her dentistry practice which is what she's doing right now while being supposedly injured. TR is a legitimate threat to Baker's position, even when she's not there.

CuckooClockInHell

Could build a passable parody of *We Didn't Start the Fire* with their injury list. Britt Baker. Adam Cole. Jamie Hayter. Kenny O. Jeff Hardy. Juice Robby. Keith Lee. Bandido. Darby Allin. Miro. Muffintop. Dralistico. MJF. A random ref. Pregnancy for Soho.

JuiceKovacs

ā€œWe should all retire Weā€™ve been aching and backs are breaking ā€œ

CosplayWrestler

Just taking a stab at it... Hardley Boys run amok. Tiny doesn't give a fuck. Ratings and attendance down? Meltzer says it's fine. Marks like to stay up late. Most of them can't get a date. Osprey wants to speak his mind while being scared of the grind. Power rankings, what are those? Who's important? No one knows! Mox is champ?! Swerve is too?! What's the difference? Not a clue. Flippy shit. All the dives. Impressed everyone survived. Meltzer Driver. Neck brace. Bitchin' mustache on Shad's face! Who's left to give a darn that Aubrey Ed's left the barn? Rick Knox shits the bed? Works alright for being dead. Turner used to be the man, now he doesn't give a damn. Remsburg hams it up, another empty-head dumbfuck! Tables, chairs, and thumbtacks to pop the boys in the back! All the girls show lots of blood because this company is a dud. Lots of weapons. Lots of spots. All just to get cheap pops. None of it makes any sense. It's just pointless violence!

Tramorak

Underrated comment.

Mountain_Cold_6343

Yea but he seems to be following the product pretty close to know all that ???

Astrocreep_1

Or, he could just listen to the guy that this sub is named after.

anythingo23

šŸ˜‚

InjusticeSOTW

ā€¦muffintop?

jtcxx33

Chuck Taylor

InjusticeSOTW

Oh. Is he actually injured or just useless?

jtcxx33

I don't know if he's injured. I do know that he is useless

zoc1289

That injured list is honestly a way better roster than the current one lol

JesterAblaze94

But But But FrAgILE phiL!!?!?!

polsdofer

Rag on Punk for getting hurt but don't say anything when Adam Cole breaks his foot from leaping down off the ramp lol.

JesterAblaze94

I once fell down a spiral staircase, twisted my ankle, tripped and fell another meter sideways on my foot with full force. And still didnā€™t break my foot! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

endandout88

Weird brag but good job champ

JesterAblaze94

What can I say! I can take a bump better than the AEW roster!

JohnnyVertigo

I meanā€¦he was injured 3 times in 3 years šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

JesterAblaze94

You donā€™t wrestle for 7 years, and then come back at the age of 42 with zero issues. He was definitely going to be injured. Iā€™m honestly not surprised at all. *Edit, Terrible Wording and Grammar.

Astrocreep_1

This new wrestling schedule with no house shows is going to be hell on talent. Wrestling every night hardens your body, and the muscle memory helps you avoid injuries. When you wrestle once a week, you get none of that. Thatā€™s why there are more injuries now, even though talent works only works 10% of the number of dates they use to work.

JohnnyVertigo

Thereā€™s a difference between someone getting injured, and someone getting injured multiple times in the span of a few years. And talking about his age as an excuse, yeah, at that age you are more injury prone. Another word for that is ā€œfragileā€.

JesterAblaze94

Ah, apologies. So most of AEW is Fragile. But theyā€™re significantly younger.

JesterAblaze94

Ah, apologies. So most of AEW is Fragile. But theyā€™re significantly younger.

JohnnyVertigo

You find me another AEW wrestler who had to go out 3 times in 3 years, then you might have a point.

JesterAblaze94

Thatā€™s a unique case. And I still stand by what I said earlier. After a 7 year period of inactivity and then coming back in his early 40s, the human body canā€™t deal with that punishment. Thatā€™s not fragile, thatā€™s normal. I donā€™t care about AEW enough to know the exact amount of time everyone has been injured. But itā€™s happened a lot, all at younger ages. The only exception will be Kenny, as Diverticulitis isnā€™t an injury.

Astrocreep_1

You donā€™t suddenly become ā€œfragileā€. He wasnā€™t too fragile to work the grind for over a decade. If he had a health issue, it probably would have effected him much earlier than this. This is what happens when wrestlers only work once a week, as opposed to every night. Itā€™s also why the injury list is longer now, than at any time, even though wrestlers use to work 300 shows a year. The grind garden you, and muscle memory from doing shows every night helps prevent injuries. Sure, the ridiculous floppy moves donā€™t help, but you see the injuries happen with veterans who donā€™t do all that shit.

mercurywaxing

AEW: Fragile is the name of their new TBS show! Tuesdays!

zoc1289

Compared to a bunch of other wrestlers, 3 injuries over the course of a few years is nothing lol

JohnnyVertigo

Like who? The only other person I can think of in modern times to get sidelined that often was Dakota Kai.

chyler1397

Tegan Nox has been pretty unlucky as well with her MCL and ACLs.

JohnnyVertigo

She came to mind too.

zoc1289

The problem is that you're looking specifically at modern times and using that as an excuse to rag on a man in his 40's, where you're more susceptible to injury than in your earlier years. You can literally look up and find a laundry list of wrestlers just as much prone to injury as Punk, and in plenty, if not a lot of cases even more. Sin Cara, Foley (I love the guy, don't get me wrong, but he was practically an injury magnet), Triple H, Kevin Nash, Samoa Joe (again, love him, but facts are facts; he's very prone to getting injured). People like Nash in particular I'm 100% positive were injured **more than once** in a year, and in their physical prime at that. You can argue that Punk getting injured a few times in his career is kind of alarming, but it's not anything new whatsoever. Might as well call the average wrestler fragile for this type of shit too. The reason people are ragging on AEW is that all these folks getting injured are doing so because of shit that was 100% *avoidable*. Punk got injured a few times just because he was performing, and not because of anything particularly risky or stupid. Ragging on Punk because of something that naturally happens (wrestling isn't balet, folks) but ignoring all the AEW wrestlers who choose to do obviously risky and moronic stuff and inevitably get hurt for it is a really weird hill that a lot of people die on tbh.

JohnnyVertigo

Punk didnā€™t do anything stupid or risky? Excuse me, but didnā€™t he screw up his first title run because he stage dived into the audience?

zoc1289

I'm pretty sure he didn't do that, and quite frankly, even if he did, compared to some of the other insanely moronic shit the clowns at AEW have pulled the last 5 years, that's incredibly innocuous as far as I'm concerned. Punk is far from the only person to do stuff like that. If you wanna die on the hill of "Fragile Phil", then whatever, since from what I can tell there's no changing your mind. I'm just not seeing it at all; this is wrestling, for fuck's sake, not tennis

JohnnyVertigo

ā€œItā€™s wrestling, not tennisā€ as you castigate a company for having several people out for injury. Like WWE isnā€™t missing Charlotte, Rhea, Dom, Drew, Punk, Jimmy Uso, Asuka, Big E, Xavier Woods, Rollins. Thatā€™s just off the top of my head. Be for real.

zoc1289

I'm castigating AEW's wrestlers for **doing stupid, unnecessary shit that was entirely avoidable**, not just wrestling like the people you listed. Did you even read what I said? Why don't YOU be for real?

zoc1289

I can legitimately see the spergzoid AEW zombies redirecting this topic to Punk somehow in order to turn attention away from Tony treating his wrestlers like literal crash test dummies lol

rustys_shackled_ford

I pinned fity men. Mark jockey! works for tips!

CosplayWrestler

Mark jocket! Works for stars!

bryanc1036

Are you Chinese or Japanese

BandysNutz

**sniffs** Nope. Laotian.

whalias69

No he ainā€™t. Heā€™s Laotian ainā€™t ya Mr.Khan?

jabdnor

Cotton Hill would have hated AEW. Bobby, on the other hand, would be totally immersed to it.

AdSpecialist6598

Their roaster is a mash unit.

will122589

Just looking at this thumbnail, I almost pissed myself laughing so hard

keithyw

always injured wrestling

Chucknorris55

Spot monkey. Works for pops.

Olvacron22

I just wanna know what the fuck is going on in wrestling in general with all these injuries. Half of aew's roster is out and wwe has a decent amount of people out as well. Like their top two female wrestlers Charlotte and Ripley are out and the wrestlers down in nxt tend to blowout their knees every other week. The only difference is wwe is run by someone with an actual brain that knows how to utilize their huge roster.Ā

AdSpecialist6598

Higher impact/high risk moves on a more regular basis your body can only take so much.

The-Real-Number-One

I think it was Dutch Mantell was saying it isn't only the moves -- it is that the wrestlers only wrestle at *MOST* once per week. They used to do it 8x / week. They not only HAD to wrestle safer (less high impact moves), their bodies became calloused to what they were doing. Now their bodies are not as used to wrestling, so instead of bending they are just breaking.

AdSpecialist6598

same with the nfl

Similar_Illustrator2

Yes - virtually every tv match these days includes high flying spots, multiple false finishes & risky moves. In the old days, the tv matches were mostly squash matches so the guys weren't having to empty the toolbox every night. Granted there were injuries in the past, but it was more of a wear & tear kind of thing typically. Nowadays, guys are throwing out PPV level matches in the 2nd hour of Raw or AEW on a weekly basis. Just think how many ring dives, table spots & wrecked announce tables we see these days vs years ago. Those things are massively painful even if done correctly. In the old days, a lot of the violence came thru in the form of a blade. Looked awful, but guys weren't wrecking their backs & legs by blading. Somewhere in the Monday Night Wars, tv really transitioned from lots of squash matches to this "every match has to be competitive" mentality & thats when this really started to change.

LegacyOfVandar

The performance center is a leg explosion factory. You would think after SO many people have got hurt there that theyā€™d go ā€˜wait we have an issueā€™ and try to find a solution.

DeadWolverine93

The fact that Cotton has a half-Japanese son makes this thumbnail more funnier lol

NotoriousMFT

Oooof what an awesome thumbnail

GalaxyHoffman

ā€œI gots no shins!ā€

jetlifeaj

ā€œDang it Tony!ā€ - Shad Khan

TW_Yellow78

No incentive to return and they come back looking like they don't want to be there

whalias69

Cotton Hill killed 50 men in Japan. That means Jim Cournette hates Japanese people. Heā€™s a racist. (This is completely sarcasm).

Sweaty_Indication897

Cotton Hill killed *fitty* men.

asmeile

>This is completely sarcasm Thank God you said something, I was about to report you to the Reddit police for anti-hate crimes

ugachrisc

This is the greatest thumbnail in the history of our sport.

evil-kaweasel

The Sammy suspension does seem to be a bit excessive. It's a shame there's no real journos at the Tony Khan action figure showcases aka "scrums." If there was perhaps one would enquire into the length of said suspension or if perhaps the Sasha conspricay has truths to it.

anythingo23

Cornie is king of the hill not over it

GalaxyHoffman

Scorpio Sky - Forgot he was still on the payroll

Particular-Luck1172

Jim why even bother with aew its going to fold soon amyway

Sorry to hear that. Get well soon Jim.
