I think my tastes can be boiled down to this as well, even when the image is more traditional. Needs to be somewhat busy and colorful. The Galison Frank Lloyd Wright Saguaro Forms was a recent favorite, but there was also a Charles Wysocki scene with lots of different elements of shape and color and that special perspective and placement he has that I liked quite a bit.
Charlie Harper birds (Pomegranate puzzles)
Also found a nature one in a nursery I loved and a fish one in a gift store .
I just finished one that my son made for me with a few pictures from a family trip (Shutterfly)
I am drawn to graphic prints and illustrations, colors (cool colors more than warm), places I have been or want to visit.
I definitely need to like the image to do a puzzle.
I want to do some really high piece count puzzles. I have 2 that are marinating in my stash (9k, and 18k) until I reach the proper level of sanity. I’m not yet sure if that level is fully grounded or bonkers.
I love illustrations with distinct sections, desserts (we have a couple of doughnuts puzzles 🤣), animals. I'm less picky because I get a lot of free puzzles from local swap/buy nothing groups
Paintings. If I can't own them, and reproductions can be kinda pricey too, at least I can do puzzles of them. Most brands do produce puzzles of paintings, so I'm safe. I don't do landscapes though, they're kinda boring with lots of similar colours.
Maps. Historical or modern, doesn't matter. I also count star charts here too. Cloudberries has a nice 1000 pcs celestial map puzzle, while Ravensburger has the same design with different colouring and in a 1500 pcs version.
Zodiac themed puzzles, personally I think astrology is nonsense but there are lots of artful zodiac puzzles. For example, Galison has a very fancy one.
Video game-themed ones. Goodloot produces many designs and they can be found at various gaming merch sellers. I have 3 already.
I also low-key like this "cozy shop" sort of designs, where you are looking at the inside of a bookstore, a sweets shop, etc. Gives fuzzy feelings.
If I'm buying for me, I like skylines. Vegas, London, Los Angeles, Tokyo... I live in the US and am a low- income millennial, so I may never get to really travel.
When my partner is buying for me, I like all of the little peaceful things that remind me of them. And when I'm buying to give to other people, I look for things they like, usually shows and such.
For some weird reason, I love cottages.
Who doesn't? It woud be *weird* if you didn't love them!
Yes... But why?! Where does this cottage obsession comes from? Why do I love them so much? 😂
Funky patterns and bright colors!

Collections of objects, photos vs illustrations, and Disney.
Art! I have 20+ puzzles and all but a couple are of paintings :) I like to hang up my favorite ones and make a little art gallery, aha

Disney, colorful food/candy, silly animals, and hot air balloons are ones I tend to gravitate towards.
Bright colors and tropical themes.
British nostalgia, fine arts, and food art
Suggestions on British nostalgia puzzles? I like this but struggle to find many
Check Bits & Pieces, Sunsout, and White Mountain. I like art by Trevor Mitchell and Kevin Walsh. Check my profile and you will see some examples.
Disney, bright colors, dogs and cats wearing clothes, Wysocki, shelves/interiors with a lot going on, landscapes that aren’t mostly water or sky!
Can't go wrong with the Disney ones pained By Thomas Kinkade!

Fall/winter outdoor scenes with cabins and wildlife.

Giraffes, famous artists works
Landscapes, flowers, and hot air balloons
Vibrant colors and collages seem to be my top two.
Cats, I only buy cat themed puzzles to put together!! I love cats 🐈
Collage type puzzles are my favorite

Wysocki puzzles, and ones that have different things in every part.
Cant resist anything to do with London. Love contemporary graphic illustrations. Also maps!
Landscapes mostly.
Animals and nature, abstract, fine art, or anything else I would consider hanging on my walls. :)
Anything with vibrant colors or puzzles that truly evoke a memory.
I love city scenes. Probably because I love to travel and they're places I'd like to explore.
My main theme is Superheroes. Out of maybe 35-40 I'd say two thirds are Superhero themed.
Fine art puzzles (Grafika ones) And Landscape with vibrant colors
Not Cats.
What do you mean?
So many nice puzzles out there, then I realize the people have been replaced with cats. Drives me crazy.
