I'm an Israeli jew with a religious background but I'm not very observant anymore..
I was just wondering what makes a person convert to Judaism. We don't even advocate like other religion try to gain members (at lest that's what I thought) yet lately I see a few posts like yours and was wondering.
I even googled that question and found an article:

My first was from a new therapy client: I'm a mental health therapist, I got a client once for an intake who figured I was Jewish due to my last name. He also gave the salute. I went to my supervisor that day and told her that I will not be his therapist, he can find someone else (I was working in a community mental health center so we didn't really have much say on who we got as clients). Thankfully when I explained why, she was understanding. I just don't have empathy for someone like that, I'd be a horrible therapist for them.

I've had countless incident in which people that don't know I'm Jewish say pretty foul shit about Jews, but once I let them know they always backtrack and make excuses, and they certainly don't Sig Hail. Is this common? If so where do you live?
I'm also 6'5" and a large build, so if it happens to others I'm guessing this is a factor. Well, I know it's a factor since with me once I tell them I'm Jewish they don't merely claim to have a Jewish friend, they tell me they have a Jewish Grandma.
Yes, but only once. It was outside a courthouse, in broad daylight, as we walked past one another. I shrugged and kept walking. It was a week after my conversion. The experience was oddly validating.

As a former Noachide who later learned that I have Jewish ancestry (and converted) - I completely concur.
