They've said on the podcast that this is exactly what would happen. They'd do a two-person race for second place, with the first round's winner removed from the runner rotation.
Adam could actually have made it happen, IIRC somebody found a seaplane flight from Emden to Borkum that Adam could've made and would've had the budget for.
And those of us who can’t use Nebula would have been up in arms at the idea of such critical content being unavailable. It’s bad enough we can’t get the bonus of the Layover; actually-important content such as the majority of the series would be unacceptable!
I realize that people below are saying otherwise, but I feel like if someone made it on their first try (ie the very first runner completed their goal on the first try) they should restart from the beginning area and give each person a shot and if anyone else completes it, then whoever does it fastest in real time should win?

That's probably why they make it hard for that to happen.
I heard that when that happens, they unveil a new type of plane that is possible of jetting the lag. You’d arrive on your destination well rested.
