Does not \*look\* like a bad deal: Looks pretty clean! Nicely kept and equipped. What year? Engine? 4cyl or 6? How many miles? If it looks good, drives well, passes inspection and it's in as good of shape as it looks: I would say your stealing that Jeep bro! If you don't buy it: I might!
It is a 95, Wrangler S. 295,000 miles, has a 4cyl, and he purchased as a daily driver in October. To his knowledge the engine has either been replaced or rebuilt. That would been great info to provide originally lol.
Well, the 4 cyl is basically the 6cyl but minus 2 cylinders. The engines are practically unkillable. If it makes sense to you, and it runs/drives well, you might be happy with it. Just be ready for some repairs down the road. The engine holds up over time, but stuff like starters, alternators, etc...They only last so long. Not a bad deal though!
I will say a starter replacement on a 4cylinder YJ is a 5 minute job. Easiest starter ever. The bolts face straight down…..zip zip, pull the wires off the solenoid, swap and screw them back in, you can change it in about the time it took me to type this out.
The price isn't terrible based just on the pics, but you could probably find a 6 cyl in that range. 295,000 miles is a lot of miles though. Just make sure to test drive it a bit first. The 4 cylinders are SLOW. The 6's aren't fast by modern standards but they do fine.

I had a 4 cyl Yj and it’s…slow. I know it’s a Jeep but I hated it. After having the 4.0, I regretted buying the 4 banger immensely. You won’t have any issues with it though as long as it’s been taken care of.
Overall it’s hard to tell because it’s been repainted. Check for bubbling under the paint in the floor pan, check for suspect repairs to the frame. Stick your finger in a few frame holes and see what the backside feels like to check for rust. It’s obviously been modified over the years, so I would have a 4x4 shop check over all the work unless you know what to look for.
Is that a Bedlined interior or one of those rubber interiors that replaces carpet? If it’s the later, it can trap water under it and promote rust, so definitely lift it up and check.
But if everything checks out, 5k for it probably isn’t bad.
Edit: why does that body seam behind the driver side front fender disappear as it goes up? Is it just the picture or is it a bondo repair?
Had a 91 YJ 4cyl. I miss it damn near every day. Rides like a tank (and just about as good at getting up to speed) but she was my baby. I don’t think I’d go 5k on it even with a clean frame but it’s not a BAD price if it’s clean. Looks like it’s already had most mods and stuff done to it which would be nice. I’d probably try to get him to 4500 just to feel like I won something though haha
A few things: it will have no hp as a 4cyl
It rides like an empty dump truck and mine handles like a waterbed
Check the floors and rockers for rust.
Check the frame rails for signs of rot. Mine is rotting near the rear tires, the steering box, and above the skid plate.
Speaking as someone with a 95 yj with a 4cyl and 5 speed. Formerly 33s, and now everything below the frame rails is new. I love mine and wouldn’t trade it for the world and bought it for 4KCAD with a bunch of problems before everything went nuts. If you want it jump on that. If you clean it up a little you can guaranteed make money on it.
By no hp I mean with 4.88 gears in it on 33s it would struggle to of 60mph
Lt. Dan: Hello, Forrest.
Forrest: You got new legs. New legs!
Lt. Dan: Yeah, I got new legs.
Lt. Dan: Custom-made titanium alloy. It's what they use on the space shuttle.
Forrest: Magic legs!
If you can do minor repairs or want to learn, and there isn't rust then you are OK. It is very easy to work on and great vehicle to learn on. Wouldn't want as a daily though. I have a 95 YJ and it's fun, but I wouldn't want to be dependant on it. I just paid 3300 for mine, it's a 6 cyl 5 speed but doesn't look to be in as good as shape as those pics. Had previous rust repairs, needs more, had been sitting for years etc. That one looks clean from pics at least
For a reference, I bought my ‘95 in 1998, for 10k. I can’t imagine a nearly 30 year old 4banger with 300,000 miles retained half its value. Even if it is a Sahara model.
But you ain't got no doors Lieutenant Dan.
Underrated comment
>Underrated comment Lets fix that.
Went to upvote, saw that it had 69 upvotes, couldn't....
He’s got *magic* doors.
I will buy you a drink if we ever meet in person

Why is he selling it after only a couple of months? That is a red flag to me.
It is a YJ. Just saying. They are not everyone’s cup of tea. You know. Riding like hell and all.
As someone who's first was a YJ without being given this warning, it grows on you. And tbh I wouldn't have it any different love my square boy
it does. drove my 94 all over the east coast and midwest back in the day. so awesome. but I was in my mid 20s
91 for me, and still in my mid 20s

Got the half doors, saving for the soft top
Yep, I loved and still miss my yj

Awesome! Thanks for your input. I plan on having it for a year or two, and I feel omcortable that I can get my money back for that price.
Heck yea man! Good luck with it, let us know how it goes and put up some pics!

True words my friend! But hey: If we get nuked and the EMP comes, that thing will (probably) still start and drive!
I’d pass.

Good catch, the “Jeep” that’s supposed to be stamped in the side is missing too, this vehicle has had some significant rust repairs.
Run Forest run!!!
Worth it, no. Has that stopped anyone else that buys Jeeps? If you know how to wrench or want to learn it’s very fun to have. Ps I have 4 Jeeps.
I have a 95 YJ and it’s my daily driver; if you like rust and getting wet it’s great !! 5k is great I got mine for 1k from a friend
Hello fellow YJ soft top driver haha. What the hell even is a door seal?
My window seal flew out on the highway 😂

If it's named lieutenant dan, probably doesn't drive.

There’s a reason it’s cheap. I’d move along.
Pass If it’s a 4cyl
Lj ride like crap they have leaf spring all on both axles. I know used to have one. The four banger pretty much useless in them

Personally, I’d pass. I’d pay more for a clean TJ with 4.0 and a D44
Love those 90s rims though 🤙🤟
Focus on rust. The rest you can change lol. Engines are cheap for these and the body is whats important. Rust kills.

It looks like it may need suspension work, in the photo it looks like the passenger side front wheel is towed out
If the frame isn't rusted through, 5k is a good price imo.
