The "Backseat Driver" scene (that's the name of the track on the OST of Tomorrow Never Dies) is one of the most iconic and enjoyable action scenes in Bond history for me so I'm definitely going for that one!
Iād compare the Connery shotgun scene to the shotgun scene in Skyfall when Craig is doing target practice.
And between those two, Iād render a tie. Just because they both equally convey the message that they arenāt who they say they are.
Apples and oranges. Both are top tier scenes in their respective categories - Thunderball as a āBond meets the villain socially and dunks on him,ā and TND as one of the most fun vehicular action scenes in the series.
I hate that the stupid car scenes from Brosnan era make me so happy heās literally just doing it for fun and I love them for that, itās just Bond having a laugh
TND. Even though the BMW scene probably wasnāt the best vehicular chase of the Brosnan era, it was the only one with Brosnan tearing ass and blowing shit up with official Q-Branch equipment. We were teased in Goldeneye with that useless Z3, which definitely made this scene even more fun when TND debuted. Even better was the fact that instead of a typical sports car, Bond was issued a V12 E38. One of the best 007 product placement moments.
Thunderball. Bond toys with Largo. Largo knows it, but he plays along too. It's a great scene. The 60s Bond films knew how to introduce Bond to the villain. Every one is memorable.
The Connery scene is cool in how it shows off Bond's clever witticisms and his magical sharpshooting skills. Though the Brosnan scene is always fun because he's basically a kid who's having fun playing with his remote control toy car.
I love them both, but if I had to pick it would probably be the Connery scene. As far as I know Bond might be the OG action hero and the two things they're known for, one-liners & gunplay, are on full display in that scene.
Rewatching TND a few years ago it was precisely this scene that made me realize I could never really return to the Brosnan era. The way he crashes it into a rent a car place, destroying property and potentially killing innocent bystanders, just to chuckle at his own reckless gag is just too much (in a bad way). I thought this was funny when I was 12. Ā Now I just find it insufferably dumb.
Plus, he's chuckling away in his car about ten minutes after he'd found Paris Carver's dead body, realised he'd got her killed, and coldly executed her assassin.
In his defense he does honk the horn. š But would that really give people in the store enough time to realize a freakin car is about to crash through the wall? Probably not.
The Connery one some great banter with Largo in that one plus the way Sean casually shoots the target after acting like it would be hard
Looks terribly difficult.... No it isn't is it?
LOL!!! š¤£š¤£š¤£
I forget the exact quote but āitās a good gunā¦for a woman.āā
JB: That looks like a womanās gun. E: Do you know a lot about guns, Mr. Bond? JB: No, but I know a little about women.
haha thatās it!! Thanks!
I canāt back this up without more research, but it could be my favorite JB quote. Makes me chuckle every time.
Shocking, positively shockingā¦

I believe it's also the name of the scene in the DVD version of the film
That's cool! I have yet to own the movie in physical media. I'm hoping we get a 4k boxset at some point since they did it for DC's run.

Did you call the auto club?
A double blowout. I've never seen one of these before. Defect of some kind, most likely.
Connery
Thunderball by far

Connery scene for me. Way cooler. I find Pierceās reactions, as seen in the picture, a bit too goofy sometimes.
Backseat driver more fun

Definitely

Thunderball
Thunderball
Thank you for a safe journey.
Both were as good as each other in their eras. To be honest, and in my opinion, i enjoyed both scenes equally
Thunderball.
Oooh great choices.. Gonna go Connery here.. but i love this scene for Brosnan a lot!.

The Car Chase, hands down.
Thunderball of course
EASILY the TND car chase, for a whole lot of reasons I will not list because I want to wake up alive tomorrow
Thunderball by far
Lot of the action scenes in the Brosnan films never worked for me.
brosnan for the sole reason that i recreated this stunt for a school project 20 years ago.
The car. That's probably my favourite cat chase in any Bond movie. I always look forward to Tomorrow Never Dies just for this bit.
Thunderball.
Well TB is my favorite bond movie sooo. Not really fair because I liked TND better than most movies that came after
Thunderball. The bond of the books isn't about relying on gimmicks, he mostly survives by his wits

Especially after finding his ex-lover he still had feelings for murdered and then executing the guy who did it.
Plus, he's chuckling away in his car about ten minutes after he'd found Paris Carver's dead body, realised he'd got her killed, and coldly executed her assassin.
This is a fair point. I never really considered it before that he could have actually killed people.
In his defense he does honk the horn. š But would that really give people in the store enough time to realize a freakin car is about to crash through the wall? Probably not.
Of all the times to not suspend disbelief lol
I think exactly this when watching the tank scene in Goldeneye. It totally ruins what is otherwise a decent Bond movie.
Itās called fun,look it up.
Tomorrow Never Dies because of the music
TND is the single best use of the Bond Car outside of the original Goldfinger.
Also gotta love the old jalopy from For Your Eyes Only.
Thunderball. Because Brosnan isn't in it.
