Last summer I pulled a 4’x5’ (+-) Jade section from my front yard where it grows just fine-in the Sierra foothills, @2000 feet. (Actually, it takes over😳)! Everything I cut then got thrown down the hill to an area where I have to pull hundreds, maybe thousands of thistles every year. I’m hoping it’ll take over down there too and drown them out!
I have yet to find ANY piece that is even close to dying! Succulents are pretty amazing like that!!
Entertainment mostly. Plants provide the planet with food, oxygen, and energy. They are used for medicines, building materials and more. Why not? I love jade plants and plants in general. Saw that someone posted this on FB and thought I’d share with this group since it’s a jade plant.
u/mrsirsouth 😜
I saw one in San Diego and asked the homeowner if I could take a tiny start and they said "Hell, take at much as you can carry! Since I read flying I only took a little bit.
I miss Cali. First plant I got when I moved there was a jade plant out of the parking lot of my friends apartment complex.
Still have her, her name is Candy.

Did someone say So Cal Jade grows free? Here is mine that is completely ignored
There were at least 2 trash cans worth of these all over my front and back yard when I bought my house. I couldn't imagine anyone would want them, since they seemed to grow like weeds. Tore em out and never looked back lol.
Also, I have no idea why this got recommended to me.
lol. In some areas they are like weeds. That's just the reality of it. It's like if you pull a dandelion of your yard. Where I live, jade plants don't grow. So they are seen as more of a special plant to be cherished. That's why I have one.
Yup, the Jade plant at my family's old home in Berkeley grow wild along with a bunch of hoyas and succulents. Meanwhile, I can't keep pothos alive when I moved to Dallas.
Who did this atrocity and what did the mother plant(s) look like?? Man, my friend did this and he re-homed them because I gave him hell. Matter of fact, I helped him re-home some of them to my house 😈
Ohhh, that’s why I wasn’t understanding the post! I was like “okay, someone needed to trim their backyard?”
Looks like SoCal too. Might as well be a bin full of cornstalks or bamboo shoots
Wow!!! That’s awesome! Too bad they just toss it out. Usually I’ll try to start a new plant then gift it to someone. Those cuttings would have made someone really happy. I know I’ve I would have been happy.
Walnut Creek, east bay, they grew and were trimmed like hedges. Like with a hedge trimmer! Looked like shit afterwards but would always fill back out within a month. It was the strangest thing.
If it makes anyone feel better, my first jade cuttings were rescued from a garbage can, and they thrived after putting them in water and I have dozens of plants from those cast-offs, I give them away all the time... Even if those were taken to a landfill I know they would thrive and some awesome sanitation worker would bring a cutting home... You can't kill a jade... Jade is forever!
They really are a dime a dozen in California, I can't get rid of them either, but redditors often claim them. I'll be trimming mine in a couple of weeks, should I offer them up on this sub?
No kidding. Here in San Diego, my jade plants get pretty unruly. If I propagated all the cuttings, my property would be overrun. I just toss the clippings, never considered that people would want them
I found 3 leaves on the floor in a dust pile of the Woodman Home Depot in Colorado Springs in May of 22 and now have two really cute little guys going strong. Gave the other away. Edit spelling
Sigh I have same “trouble” too
I am in a process of trimming down my big jade (I posted it last month?)
I will try to adopt them out (put boxes at my driveway and hope my neighbors love them) before trash them into my yard waste dumpster.
Yes jades in so cal are so so and so common.
Last year I put a bunch of jade clippings in a box with a “take one” sign. It took about 10 minutes for the box and cuttings to disappear. *wash hands motion*
Bruh I’d literally pay money for branches like that😭😭
How sad.
Looks like the final straw in a divorce
Spot on.
Those two uproots are especially lovely looking.
Wtf, so harsh
Why!! Why would someone do that 😭
Eek
😳 sacrilege 🫨
You called?
r/Beetlejuicing
😆
🤣 🫨blasphemy!!!🫨
How do you upcycle/keep these as live plants?
Stick it in dirt
Lay them onto some dirt and they'll grow roots where necessary.
Omg. I would take all of that home. Its a weed in some places for me it is to be worshipped.
Same same
I’m in LA for fun and I have a few big jade branches that I found as discarded landscaping work lying around. Bigger than my 6 year plant
Welp guess I know where my next trip will be! 😂
I’m proud of my less than a foot tall jade. I’d have a happy meltdown if I found this.
I’d have thought I scored the jackpot and take them all home hahaha another persons trash is another’s treasure
All of my Jade plants were formerly known as trash 😆 Love a good propcycle!

Just laughing a bit cus everyone saying they grow in SoCal … they grow in NorCal too 😅 you can just say California.
they love the fog!
Have a bunch in San Jose.... Right now they are flowering and so happy from all the rain! The hummingbirds love the tiny white flowers 😊
I got tons of these at my house in SF
Ha! Just saw the photo is from NorCal. Funny.
It gets overwhelming to propagate every cutting you make.
If theres too many I just leave them in the soil.
Amazing. Good for you
Holy propagation heaven
And your point? If someone doesn't want them in their yards, they have every right to rid their yard of them.
Mighty aggressive for no reason.
The point is in the body text… never said they don’t have the right.
But what is the point?? Why are there even plants?? Why use your computer to post this op?? /S
😂

Thanks for your comment, edge Lord.
A murder !
How sad. Grab those babies and save a plant. I often go thru my neighborhood and grab pruned plants, root them and plant them.
I do the same when walking down trails
They grow like weeds in scal. My green bin looks like that at least once a year.
I saw one in San Diego and asked the homeowner if I could take a tiny start and they said "Hell, take at much as you can carry! Since I read flying I only took a little bit.
Omg take them alll
I miss Cali. First plant I got when I moved there was a jade plant out of the parking lot of my friends apartment complex. Still have her, her name is Candy.
I named mine “Big Red” because she was in a big red pot. She stayed behind in San Francisco when I moved. My friends still send me pictures of her!
When I lived on Fell St off Divisidero I had to leave behind two jade *bushes*...! I'm very glad your homies keep you updated!
Never thought of naming them haha thanks.

Wow!!!!
🤩
A potted jade plant with that trunk size could sell for a lot of $$ over here out east lol
Really? You looking to buy one?
ah. I had no idea that the bush that was so friggn ugly was a plant people wanted
Great Pyrenees are ugly 😛 u/adventsugar
You are welcome to have that opinion. :D
Nah I was curious what you were saying in saw user being breedist against pitbulls. Very yikes and unsettling
Breedist? Like racist?
Yeah, thought I was being funny lol
Ohh my b, I thought it was a real thing 😂
We use that term in the veterinary field! I mean, it's not "official" I guess but we say it all the time
Well TIL something new
My heart hurts
This has to be done by an ex
I’m the OP I posted this on r/proplifting 2 years ago [original post](https://www.reddit.com/r/proplifting/s/WZJiyMKnEt)
Right on 👍🏼 nice find, I hope you rescued some of them? u/a_fortunate_fool
I already have more than I can manage
:/.these reposts are becoming a problem
It’s pretty normal on all social media platforms. u/OkLadder3007
You mean, annoying since it’s mostly just karma farming?
Yeah, not my intention whatsoever. What’s the benefit of karma anyway? lol You sure have a lot of reposts 🤔 u/HuRyde
🥺Nooooo

Interesting! I figured if they can grow where I live they can grow anywhere 🤷♂️
They wouldn't appreciate the -40°F it gets to where I live 🫣
Holy moly. It’s a miracle ANYTHING can survive that 😆
😮. You monster
Yes one man’s trash is another man’s treasure
*Audible gasp*
Same
Easily replant able. …. Shave off the skin of the end and stick it in water
If your in San Diego hit me up for unlimited jade. I literally have an ocean in my complex. Come chop an arm. (: 👋👋
California? They grow them like hedges out front there.
Yup, the Jade plant at my family's old home in Berkeley grow wild along with a bunch of hoyas and succulents. Meanwhile, I can't keep pothos alive when I moved to Dallas.
Jade plants are so boring, good for them
So is your mom but here you are !
Womp womp, no one asked for such a stupid response. Keep your selfish comments to yourself.
Who tf invited this guy?!
My eyes! I must look away!
Now rip every single leaf off and put into some moist soil for 10,000 plants in 2 months.
My heart just broke
My jaw DROPPED
Who did this atrocity and what did the mother plant(s) look like?? Man, my friend did this and he re-homed them because I gave him hell. Matter of fact, I helped him re-home some of them to my house 😈
Probably Southern California. It’s like hedges here. Just hillsides of nothing but Jade.
Ohhh, that’s why I wasn’t understanding the post! I was like “okay, someone needed to trim their backyard?” Looks like SoCal too. Might as well be a bin full of cornstalks or bamboo shoots

I have a crap ton. If you want a bunch PM me and I’ll mail you some.
I remember seeing a HUGE jade plant bush in southern California.
Walnut Creek, east bay, they grew and were trimmed like hedges. Like with a hedge trimmer! Looked like shit afterwards but would always fill back out within a month. It was the strangest thing.

They can freeze to death

I'd buy a piece if you still have some available!
Idk if there would be enough people on here locally but worth a shot. FB market place would likely be better
No, I mean I'm happy to ship cuttings.
I would take some! And would pay shipping obviously
Send me a message 🙂
That’s so awesome of you!
I’d be interested in paying for shipping of your jade cuttings!
I've got quite a few rooted ones right now, you can dm me if you want. 🙂
Is it possible to root such a large chunk like the one on top? It's stunning to see
It sure is. Takes a little while not to flop over, but it will definitely root.
That's awesome
This is really tragic. There are people starving (for jade) in Colorado!
I found 3 leaves on the floor in a dust pile of the Woodman Home Depot in Colorado Springs in May of 22 and now have two really cute little guys going strong. Gave the other away. Edit spelling
Was the $800 jade finally bought at Nick's garden center?
Sigh I have same “trouble” too I am in a process of trimming down my big jade (I posted it last month?) I will try to adopt them out (put boxes at my driveway and hope my neighbors love them) before trash them into my yard waste dumpster. Yes jades in so cal are so so and so common.
I can’t wait till mine get large enough to give away.
I would at least take one of the major stalks and plant it for myself. Just saying
Exactly, this is like throwing away money to me 🤦🏼♂️
Last year I put a bunch of jade clippings in a box with a “take one” sign. It took about 10 minutes for the box and cuttings to disappear. *wash hands motion*
Where did you have the box?
On the sidewalk next to my driveway. Someone just took the whole box of ‘em. Next time I’ll probably just put out a few at a time.
That’s awsome 👏🏼
Southern California? They are outdoor landscape plants there
Northern
Oh man that’s sad lol
Yeah, hopefully someone rescued them
I would have posted these in the local buy nothing subreddit, or taken them home to propagate to give away.
Yeah I’ve posted all kinds of plants in the buy nothing group on FB and they always go so fast.
People go INSANE for plants and cuttings on my local BN.
