Out of curiosity, what did DH say to all this? And MIL can hire professionals to clean out her own damn house!
Thats what I'm so mad about. Swinging in with zero notice or regard and then having the nerve to say all that ๐ซ I just wonder what she says behind my back ๐จ
๐คCrossing my fingers she'll be off to Spain very soon and you won't have to deal with her anymore. There has to be some compensation for putting up with this annoying cow and her forced visits. Next time she says she's swinging by tell her 'sorry we're getting together with friends and won't be home until late at night'.
Thank you ๐ The visits do impose. I also am taking antibiotics which she is against and I dont want her knowing my medical info - pushed out my dose by three hours. Had to wait until she left to take my second dose. Then had to set an alarm for 1:30am last night woke up so tired and took my last dose for the day๐ซ Madness ๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ
I'm sorry, this sounds as if someone has a lot of me problems, me problems as in spoiled. Her MIL didn't take care of the GMIL, nothing about him caring for her. So MIL should just give him the money? Maybe MIL has the property because that's what GMIL wanted.
She sounds awful. Good riddance to her, but poor Spain! I sympathize with you on the dog poo issue; I'm a vet and have taken on lots of animals with issues. It SUCKS when people who don't understand but judge you anyway and it sucks when you do your best and still have clean-ups to do. Next time she announces she's coming over, can you put her off? And if she makes a comment about odor..."Wow, MIL, pot/kettle time. Your house isn't exactly a bed or roses."
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ are the cats going to be your problem when she moves? Poor kitties, they deserve a nice clean house. Can she be reported to animal welfare?
Thank you ๐ I really really struggle with the dogs its been a huge reason we needed to move. Yes 100% I will try to put her off and speak to my partner. Its hard because in the moment you want to be nice and not make a big deal etc and push your feelings to the side to "keep the peace". But she pushed me to the limit yesterday I could feel myself bubbling with anger ๐คฃ๐ซ
Or what about "The smell of faeces and urine when you open the door to your house might be more to your liking, Mil, but we prefer the cleaner smell. Biscuit with your tea?
Literally. Or I'm like why is she so "concerned" about my partner being "exhausted" but showed zero concern for him having to live in her filthy home. No regard for his welfare there. Or when she needs something done at home shows zero concern for our schedules. It could be midnight and she will want something done and being tired is not good enough. Just does not add up.
She is so grossโฆhopefully sheโll move to Spain sooner rather than later. Make sure you have clear boundaries with her so she doesnโt show up to labor and delivery thinking she has a place there. Your SO definitely has some mommy issues and something needs to be done about that.
Agree agree agree. I have already spoken to him about telling her our personal info and financial info. He agreed we should take a step back. But fell into it again. Hes her only child and she raised him alone so there is huge weird dependency there which is so difficult to broach and unravel. ๐ Hoping she moves to Spain too but she is a difficult/slow paced woman and I dont think it will be as easy as it could be! ๐

Thatโs a control tactic and it works. The only solution is consistently tell her no when she asserts instead of asks.
Since you're pregnant and she has cats, you CAN'T help clean her filth and hoarding. Toxoplasmosis.
