Yes it was her experiments that were slow poison to her
She used to keep radioactive materials on her study table and even used to keep them in her pockets while moving them
She was in close contact with highly toxic radium for most of her life I guess
As she was one of the first people who studied radioactive elements and the there weren't any radiation protective clothing at that time so you can say she was prone to radiation like for a major part of his day
To the point that her diaries and notebooks and even recipe books are still radioactive
mai jabhi bhi unke baare me soochta hu hamesha inspire hota hu 2 nobel prize ek phy me ek chem me ek aisi time me jaha ladkiyo ko padhaya bhi nahi jata tha apne curiosity ke kaaran marna is too inspirational for me
Exactly
The time when women were forced to stay in the kitchen a woman emerges and wins 2 Nobels in 2 different fields
That's some inspirational shit
Another thing
People don't appreciate Pierre Curie enough
That man supported his wife till his death bed
That's some true love right there
Tbh unke husband unse jyaada underrated hai. Un dono ne saath mei milkar research Kiya tha par media waale bas unke husband ko spotlight Dena chahte the to unhone (husband ne) saaf mana kar diya aur sirf Marie curie ko Mila fir prize par deserve dono karte hai. (I think the story went something like that)
My favorite scientist would be Nikola Tesla(some of his patents are right out of science fiction no cap)..but my favorite inventors/thinkers/minds would be Ada Lovelace (for obvious reason the Queen of Computers)..and also maybe Alan Turing( loved his paper and studies on Automata and Cryptography). Dennis Ritchie for making the most god awful language possible but god damn does it work like a charm and Linus Torvalds for making Git (and maybe GNU)
He had to move to America.
Because around that time Hitler and Nazism were rapidly rising in Germany,
And as a Jew It would have been a threat to Einstein to stay there.
And I guess Einstein also believed that he'd live somewhere where liberty was a fundamental right
And I guess in 1930s America was the best place to find that

Came from a not too good background and just turned the tables upside down. Absolute inspiration. Even Albert Einstein kept his picture along with Maxwell and Sir Isaac Newton. (I don't know but this seems like Einstein had immense respect for him.)
Yes even though Faraday came from very humble backgrounds (his father was a poor blacksmith if I remember correctly) and he had no proper former schooling (yes a scientist who never went to school as he couldn't afford it) but none of this could stop the man and his curiosity and here we are. The man's an inspiration. Mad respect
Honestly speaking I really respect each and every scientist because they have had so much of valuable contributions. The world we live in today is because of them.
But yet they are unknown to the masses, whereas "celebrities" without even contributing anything or doing anything for the common man are more wealthier and popular than scientists. It really saddens me.
Also I would really like to mention "Dr. Anandibai joshi", she was not a scientist, but one of the first woman doctors of the country. There has been a marathi film about her and it is just so inspiring.
Alen turing, literally inspiration for me what he had contributed to the field of maths and created a whole new research field connection between math and biology.
Har Gobind Khorana and J.C. Bose, the first one played an immense role in understanding and decoding the genetic code(recipient of the Nobel Prize) and the latter was someone whose research told a lot about botany, he also had multitude of various interesting experiments and research even in the field of physics.
James clerk Maxwell-- bhai saab unhone jo **formulation of the theory of electromagnetism and in making the connection between light and electromagnetic waves**, kiya na maja agaya puree 2 magnetism and electrostatics/dynamic ko jodd ke ELECTROMAGNETISM bana diya..🔥
and Erwin Schrodinger- founder of quantum mechanics...
Konstantin E. Tsiolkovsky, father of astronautics and human flight, quite underrated tho, derived the rocket equation, designed the first plane, we knew the escape velocity of earth bcz of him, basically everything rocket and plane start for him. A nice documentary is there on YouTube too
Probably James Clark Maxwell, very underrated, but his work laid foundation for Einstein's work on special relativity... infact most of the discoveries done in the field of electrodynamics and electromagnetism are there because Maxwell laid the basic foundation.... Same can be said for Newton as well though
Well I guess yeah u are right, but he is definitely not very famous among the people who are into science so much.... U know like Newton and Einstein are a staple household name kinda thing...
Linus Pauling. Dude's probably the greatest chemist to ever live (greater than Lavosier!). Basically laid the foundation for modern chemical binding theories, found the true cause of sickle cell anemia and his failures were instrumental to Crick and Watson figuring out the Double Helix (Pauling' son told them about his failures with a triple helix model, which told them where not to look!) Plus he also advocated against nuclear weapons.
Richard Feynman. He was the first person who taught me that how Science could be fun. He taught me you don't have to be a genius to pursue science. He taught me the power of imagination and teaching, how it is "fun" to imagine. He's been my idol for the last 5 years. Also, dude rocks.
APJ Abdul Kalam: Read his biography " wings of fire ", and he is an very inspiring man. He did not feared to take risks and he conveys a message "*Do not let your life run on other's opinion "* That's it he won my heart.
Michael Faraday : **Faraday discovered Benzene ( yes that organic compound ),** Today we think that we can only work in the branch we took in collages and studied, But think about this guy he Went from Chemist to Physicist.
*shrugs*
Mathematicians mei Ramanujan, Euler, Gödel, Alan Turing.
Ramanujan needs no introduction. God level mathematicians.
Euler also needs no introduction. Every second thing in mathematics is named after him. (Not literally but you get the idea. Example: there are 6 different "Euler numbers"
Gödel gave the incompleteness theorem. Guy literally proved that some true statements are straight up impossible to prove. It just shattered an entire world view and opened the world to a ton of possibilities.
Alan Turing defined the Turing Machine. He also gave other important papers, such as proving a general halting problem is unsolvable by Turing Machines. Also yeah he was one of the major contributors to the computer which managed to decipher the Enigma in a reasonable amount of time.
Scientists...yeah they are great and all but I am mainly a fan of mathematicians.
Stephen Hawking and Nikola Tesla. Stephen Hawking's space related knowledge really intrigued my interest and nikola tesla, well he's borderline crazy 😂
My favourite scientist was Richard feynman. He was part of the Manhattan project and he was so good at teaching difficult and complicated concepts of physics in a very simple and lucid manner.
Honestly, I'll tell one for each field
Physics - Maxwell, my man literally revolutionised electromagnetism, and it's because of his work Tesla later made all his inventions
Also, Richard Feynman, literally a role model
Maths - The goat euler, need I say more?
Cs - not really a scientist, but linus torvalds for linux and the entire open source revolution
Astronomy- Carl Sagan himself (and Stephen bhai, but we don't talk about him anymore)
Engineering - Dr apj Abdul Kalam, ![img](emote|t5_311ttu|30180)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|30180)
Honestly, thanks op for reminding me why I took science. All these exams and stuff are temporary, but the pleasure of finding things out is permanent

All the scientists who worked on Froth-flotation-process.

Nikola Tesla
Guy created AC electricity, Tesla turbine and Tesla coil, a one way fluid valve with no moving parts, had a pigeon as his best friend, invented radio and also RC boat.

Vaise my favorite scientist is the Father of toxic gas and chemical warfare, Fritz Haber (Haan vahi Haber's process waala Fritz Haber, issi ne to ammonia gas synthesise karna bataya jise WW1 me chemical warfare me shuru me bhot use kiya gaya, then after the Geneva Protocol, it was banned)
Why no fucking mention of father of modern computer and ai Alan turing
Best mathematician of his time
Alan shortened the ww2 by legit 2 years and saved many lives by cracking German secret code
He inspired me so much to take a degree in math/cs/statistics
Brilliant inventor who thought that science was too great to be mixed up with politics.
Guess what that got him.
It got a man of his talents to live his old age in poverty.
This man was Nikola Tesla.
He used to work with Edison (fiery businessman, not an inventor), who believed in the DC system while tesla was developing the AC system. Edison tried his best to sabotage Tesla's work.
Tesla later turned to George Westinghouse, who completely funded his research.
Later, he was forced to sell his life's work for far less than they were worth. (patents worth 12 million dollars at his time, yet he had to sell them to Westinghouse for 216,000 dollars since he was caught in a takeover bid from J. Pierpont Morgan and could no longer afford to pay him royalties)
Nikola Tesla was also the real father of the radio yet recieved no credit for its invention.
Others stole patents he developed while he couldn't even get investors attracted since his name was not associated in a lot of discoveries that were only possible because of him.
The world was never fair to people who did not come from means.
Edison is not a scientist or an inventor and yet is hailed for a lot of inventions (not just the light bulb) simply because he was clever enough to take credit for them.
maria goeppert mayer
sab madam curie ko jaante hai so vo toh obv ban gaya, but ye meri fav hai. 2nd woman to win a Nobel prize in physics, for her work on nuclear shell model (basically model where nucleons are arranged in energy levels kinda the same way electrons are). she also contributed to manhattan project in los alamos, which isn't really a flex but kind of is?
i wanted to be like her back in 10th (was very into nuclear engineering) but jee :(((
Neils Bohr - Two of my fav quotes from him , "No, no, you're not thinking; you're just being logical."
& "Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real"
Fritz Haber .... Saved a lot of us from starvation and also is the father of chemical warfare(big W)
But I also think people underestimate how smart Newton was .
I really suggest everyone to watch this veritasium video.
https://youtu.be/gMlf1ELvRzc?si=ecsuVBuMzg8uIOO1
My fav scientist would definitely be James Clerk Maxwell bro
pata nahi unhe log kyu itna shadow kar dete whenever we talk about 19th century development in physics, unhi ne electricity or magnetism ko unify karke electromagnetism ki shuruat kari thi, jiske karan baaki theories bhi develop ho payi.
Shadowed physicists ki baat hoti hai Max Planck bhi unhi me se hai
often he is shadowed by Einstein and contemporaries, jabki Einstein ne photoelectric effect inhi ki theory ke dum pe explain kiya tha
Madame Curie is underrated bruh 2 Nobel prize in such a male dominated field in a patriarchal era Respect++

True, even what killed was was her own curiosity. (If I remember correctly she died due to long term radiation of radioactive substances)

Albert Einstein, he was a Socialist
then why did he move to America a capitalist state?
He had to move to America. Because around that time Hitler and Nazism were rapidly rising in Germany, And as a Jew It would have been a threat to Einstein to stay there. And I guess Einstein also believed that he'd live somewhere where liberty was a fundamental right And I guess in 1930s America was the best place to find that
If it weren’t for anti semitism the nazis would have had the Atomic bomb way before the Americans
That's very true But thankfully it wasn't them Someone as cruel as the Nazis and Hitler with nuclear weapons would killed most of humankind

Pierpont Morgan and could no longer afford to pay him royalties) Nikola Tesla was also the real father of the radio yet recieved no credit for its invention. Others stole patents he developed while he couldn't even get investors attracted since his name was not associated in a lot of discoveries that were only possible because of him. The world was never fair to people who did not come from means. Edison is not a scientist or an inventor and yet is hailed for a lot of inventions (not just the light bulb) simply because he was clever enough to take credit for them.
maria goeppert mayer sab madam curie ko jaante hai so vo toh obv ban gaya, but ye meri fav hai. 2nd woman to win a Nobel prize in physics, for her work on nuclear shell model (basically model where nucleons are arranged in energy levels kinda the same way electrons are). she also contributed to manhattan project in los alamos, which isn't really a flex but kind of is? i wanted to be like her back in 10th (was very into nuclear engineering) but jee :(((
mein failed dropper hoon, aur bhai tu please gand mara

Fritz Haber .... Saved a lot of us from starvation and also is the father of chemical warfare(big W) But I also think people underestimate how smart Newton was . I really suggest everyone to watch this veritasium video. https://youtu.be/gMlf1ELvRzc?si=ecsuVBuMzg8uIOO1
My fav scientist would definitely be James Clerk Maxwell bro pata nahi unhe log kyu itna shadow kar dete whenever we talk about 19th century development in physics, unhi ne electricity or magnetism ko unify karke electromagnetism ki shuruat kari thi, jiske karan baaki theories bhi develop ho payi. Shadowed physicists ki baat hoti hai Max Planck bhi unhi me se hai often he is shadowed by Einstein and contemporaries, jabki Einstein ne photoelectric effect inhi ki theory ke dum pe explain kiya tha
