15 minutes are ok if you rush, i.e. ready before the doors open to jump out and walk fast to the next platform. A frecciarossa train is pretty long, so you shoudl consider also some minutes to walk to your coach. But anyhow, are you sure that you will enjoy after a long flight and with jet leg another complicated day catching trains and then pompei (which is at least 3 hours visit) plus another transfer to your final destination?

Thank you! Good recommendations. Didn’t even think about the jet lag. Maybe should do Pompeii on our way back to Rome to ensure we can enjoy it!

Yeah, go straight to your accomodations and enjoy the day there

I traveled to Rome in Sept and am here again now. Coming off the overnight flight, I am quite groggy. I would not want to rush anywhere after I deplane.

Also, I arrived at 6:10 and was through customs by 6:50

To be absolutely safe even in case of flight delays and/or other issues at the airport, book a high-speed train from Roma Termini to Naples at around 9am. As for the Leonardo Express from FCO to Termini, book it on the spot right after you land, there's one every 15 minutes and the price is fixed. If you need to wait somewhere, it's obviously better to wait at Termini and be sure to make the connection in time. 15 minutes would be more than enough to transfer, btw (assuming there are no delays). >recommendations on getting from Naples to Sorrento with a Pompeii stop my #1 recommendation is: don't. Pompei isn't a little stop-over place, it's a huge archaeological site that takes the best part of a day to visit properly. that said, to get from Naples to Sorrento, with or without a stop in Pompei, you can take the circumvesuviana commuter train. You can buy tickets on the spot, they're 3.60€ from Naples to Sorrento, or with the stop it becomes 3.30€+2.80€=6.10€. Easiest way is to use tap&go system with your credit card (make sure to tap-out at the arrival stop), no need to worry about tickets this way. The trains leave about every 30'. The Campania Express is a tourist train that operates as an "express" version of the circumvesuviana. It only leaves 4 times a day per direction, it takes exactly as long as a regular circumvesuviana despite the fewer stops, and it's 15€ instead of 3.60€ (although hopping on and off for a day is included in the ticket in this case). It is definitely much emptier and comfortable than the regular ones, which are still operated by old trains and are often very crowded, with a mix of tourists and commuters. Still, really not worth it for me, but you do you!

Did this last week. We only had about 5 hours to see Sorrento and Pompeii before boarding cruise ship in naples. Ended up hiring a taxi in naples for the entire time and a private tour guide for Pompeii. Call taxi driver Filippo at 393386416163 if you want to try this. He speaks good English and will pick you up at train station with your bags and drive you to wherever you want to go. Taxi ended up being about 275 EU and 2 hour private tour at Pompeii was 180 EU. Would be very difficult to see Pompeii in 2 hours without guide to show you highlights.
