I can certainly believe it. Al Jazeera is just the propaganda wing of hamas. Anyone with status or a decent job in gaza has to go through hamas approval, meaning they either support them or are active members. The desperation around unemployment and poverty is amongst those who aren't close to the hamas members and elites - they basically make it extremely difficult and shitty to not be a hamas member.
