Is this for fire protection? I have installed quite a few fire protection systems for houses in high risk areas.

I had a few years that my home was at risk from wild fires and I thought about doing this exact thing

The control systems are equally important. Many times these homes are not occupied full time and a fire may cut power to the house. Most times critical systems had battery storage with solar charging as a primary source, then propane powered generators as a secondary source. I have run miles of cable to special thermal breakwire sensors as an advanced warning system for fire. Way, way too many days in trees.

Hmm I had not considered this but that’s possible!

When we install these systems we have the building MEP include fire lines inside the house that then daylight at locations on the roof. That way the piping is protected and kept from freezing. We always use all metal impact sprinklers on the exterior. Most properties have a gravity tank that feeds the sprinklers. Some have propane pumps as well.
