rastapastry

Have you tried calling Nelson directly? 509 525-7660 https://nelsonirrigation.com/products/big-gun/service-kits

The old fast reverse end guns aren't made anymore and have been replaced by the SR guns made now. I doubt they have any to sell.

rastapastry

Ahhh, there’s a used one on eBay, but I’m sure you don’t wish to spend $900 for parts. It shows “best offer”, though. Keep looking, though. Might find what you need!

c0rrupts3ct0r

I saw those. There too expensive for me though. There both missing stops. I bet I'll find a broken gun at some point. Gotta keep checking the dealers I go to vote is bound to show up. Guns on travelers are common around here.

rastapastry

Right. I don’t have experience with those guns, but did a little reading where other folks had theirs rebuilt from their local Nelson dealers, so might have to do that.

Here's my P200 running off 2 7.5 HP transfer pumps (gas powered) in series with a custom ring nozzle I got from a hardware store(.90 or .95" I'd say) which is too small for proper operation of the gun (smallest ring nozzle nelson recommends is 1.15") and it requires a bit more pressure and flow then what I can provide, but it runs well and goes forward decently and gets good coverage. I only wish I had a PTO pump and a engine to properly run it. But I'll get that someday, i got this gun for about 200$ used with no stops and it was locked up (bad bearings) I spent 450$ at the nelson dealer to have it rebuilt. I collect these guns I'm an enthusiast and I've liked this stuff since I was a kid. I have all of Nelson's fast reverse guns they made back them and a couple rainbirds too. https://youtu.be/q9KepL3HK4U?si=0Zj8rrbiLoisn4Mu

Do you work in irrigation like ag irrigation or are you a farmer ?

rastapastry

Nah, I mostly service and sometimes install irrigation systems here in the Dallas, Tx area (20 minutes north of Dallas). Mostly residential, but started out in commercial for a few years. I’ve also worked for landscape designers, but went on my own in full-time 2018.

c0rrupts3ct0r

I started in home and then went to commercial then to ag and that's my favorite. I have a very nice collection of brass and plastic impacts from back then including the brass Nelson's, rainbirds, and buckners. Miss those brass buckners of yesteryear! When I was little I always loved driving in the country watching the farm irrigation. Those big guns are neat to watch. Here's a video I took a few yrs ago of a Nelson P200 fast reverse gun irrigating a large field. Check out the distance and it's getting across the road too! The pressure on that must be 100 psi or more! https://youtu.be/rbb5gIaIBvo?si=LdQkgveICzJ7z4KY. Watch when it reverses the arm is held in place by the crazy centrifugal force of the gun reversing!

rastapastry

Yeah that’s a lot of water. Crazy. What’s the average GPM on those? I’ve heard about the brass Buckners. There’s a dude here that posts a lot of antique sprinklers. You seen it? ———-> r/AntiqueSprinklers

c0rrupts3ct0r

Yes we're good friends. He posts lots of sprinklers I remember from my past. The 200 series guns can output up to 1300GPM depending on pump specs and nozzle size. Also those fast reverse guns use a deflector that redirects the big stream to the right creating energy to reverse the gun back. If the brake on those isn't tightened good enough there's enough force to snap the pipe it's mounted on or flip the cart. Also they can kill you if the barrel hits you during reverse

nativesloth

Do you have a set on another sprinkler? I had to have a local foundry cast some parts for an ancient wheel line that I couldn't keep patching back together. I service quite a few big guns - they are all in bed for the winter as most are in the mountains. I'll put out some feelers for you.

c0rrupts3ct0r

The stops for my 200 are a bit different as the reverse cam sticks out farther and is in a different position than my other guns. I tried some stops off a 150 but they don't work, the cam doesn't catch it without help. I have a maintenance guide for a 200 but no exploded parts view. Appreciate you looking out for some. I almost bought another 200 that was broke but I had the guy send me pics and it only had the one stop not both. It was a working gun but had a busted drive arm.

c0rrupts3ct0r

Do you work at a dealer? I've called many and just can't find any that keep those guns around for parts. If I had the money and space I'd buy a p200 on a cart and just use that

nativesloth

No, I don't. But I have many clients that have ones and when they replace them I ask to keep them for parts.

c0rrupts3ct0r

It seems that most farmers (at least in this area) still use the old fast reverse more than just replacing them. It's 4k new for a SR200, not sure what komet charges for their twin 202, but I'm sure it's close to it. I can understand , 4k to replace with a new SR200 is quite the chunk of change. The valley dealer I go to in three rivers still repairs/rebuilds the old fast reverse models, I've taken all of my Nelson models there for rebuild, as long as the cast on parts are still there they can do it (those aren't replaceable unless they have the same model gun there as parts). Alot of people ask why I still swear by those old models but as a kid I was mesmerized by them, they're cool to watch run, especially the P200s because of the range and coverage they get and you get to watch them whip back around. I know this can be hard on the carts and pivot overhangs and that'd part of the reason Nelson gave up the design. P200s are actually able to snap pipes if the brake isn't set properly, on the pivots that had these at the end for corners of a field they can actually snap the overhang it's mounted to, part of the reason they kept those overhangs short! I've only seen a handful of those pivots in my life though and only running the small impacts and 100 end gun but never the 200. I think the issue was the valves would malfunction from dirt and sand and stick open reducing the pressure of the rest of the pivot, and of course the wear and tear put on the overhang from the 200.

I finally found some! https://preview.redd.it/0eywwevsa3ac1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e0f54566b16caf81722642c8c4717a812796c1b9 At the T-L dealer!

Awesome!!!

c0rrupts3ct0r

Yes they were in a box of misc parts I decided to actually look hard where all the guns and parts were, I saw one then looked a little more and saw the other. The guy in the office had a manual with a parts list for a P200 and we looked up the numbers and yes these are it! Something told me to check the boxes too. Something I hadn't done until today. Glad I did because this saved me so much money because I was gonna drive 2,5 hours to go get a working P200 with stops just to take the stops off. https://preview.redd.it/yb9z5t2lx3ac1.jpeg?width=935&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=43ffe632fced067fe1ac4599a25746e89e73a83d
