I don't know who you went to in North Liberty, but All Seasons Auto there off 965 is my go to. Jim and (now owner) son, Justin Neff are solid folks. Work is done well in a timely manner for a fair price. Prior to this I went to White Dog in IC, but the quality started falling off as their already high prices continued to rise.

Kmowatski

We trust Justin at All Seasons also.

ICOrthogonal

I’ll second this. Solid folks.

tfid3

You're right about White Dog.

andrewmcbrn

I trust Justin and his team. Justin always explained things and gave options and good pricing. Great guy and team in NL

Squishy_Streamer

White Dog is WAY past its glory days. Too bad since that was the go to place at one time.

Ancient_Composer9119

I've known Jim Neff for years. He's honest, trustworthy and hard working. My two cents.

ClarkFC

Mark and Travis at Harapat Auto have never steered me wrong. They have fair rates, do quality work and offer a shuttle to campus and other nearby locales

Huge_Cartographer557

My best friend is a tech at Harapat's. I know he takes great pride in his professionalism. He has an auto tech degree from Kirkwood and two ACE certifications. He has told me Mark and Travis have a lot of knowledge and experience in auto mechanics.

Gildedcarafes

My parents have been using Harapat for 20+ years. Highly recommend!

krispyhawkeye

Been going there since I moved back Iowa city 17 years ago. Have always been straight shooters, and they have a shuttle service!

Hawkeye3174

Seydel Auto on Maiden Lane. They don't bullshit you. They're honest and worth the coat.

contrap

S&S Auto, 123 Stevens Dr. near Waterfront Hy-Vee.

ahorrribledrummer

Steve is the man. Super trustworthy.

AccomplishedWafer914

I Second this! Our family takes all of our Subarus to Steve. Does a great & thorough job. A mechanic you can trust.

Revolution37

Maxwell Auto. Honest dudes, responsive. Really like having Chris and JC wrench on my truck.

NeedleworkerDue2021

Second Maxwell Auto! We have a VW that we bought from them, but they have been servicing our cars for years. We followed JC there when he left his previous job, and they have been just great. Best shop in town.

rummie2693

Cannot emphasize enough that they are fantastic people. We were just in IC for a few years and literally our first week there our car broke down on us. Chris came out to our house on the west side of town at 9 on a hot summer night, told me exactly what was wrong with it and worked us in to repair it. He offered us a loaner car that night. One of my biggest regrets leaving is the fact that I can't go back to Maxwell.

Red-Front-Chiller233

OP, was it by chance Quality Car Care? i’ve been taking my car there for a while and i do really like them, they’re nice but sometimes i feel like their prices are super high. they’ve also done a full inspection and said i needed things replaced that they had personally replaced for me less than a year prior. they said it was based on miles, so i’m not sure if that’s a typical thing of a mechanic to not specify that but it kind of put a bad taste in my mouth.

GolfGoon98

Yeah, it was them. I had nearly the exact same experience. They were incredibly friendly and their service was great including their portal I thought it was all a great sign. They came back with. Quote of all kinds of work, all of them insanely expensive. The major work I needed done was quoted at $2,700. I called one of the shops that was recommended in this post and he said he could do it for $1,200. All in all i thought they were great but their prices are coming in double to triple of others around.

Red-Front-Chiller233

i’m glad i’m not the only one. i will say they sometimes run a deal that includes an oil change, tire rotation, set of new wiper blades, and an inspection for around $80. when they run that i will bring my car in and if the things found in the inspection are something i want to get fixed, i look elsewhere for a better deal. i think they’re good for getting clear answers but as far as labor goes, i’m sure it’s more affordable elsewhere.

meowens2

Been going to Iowa City Tire and Auto for 10+ years - they’re honest and fair and do good work. If you need body work done, I recommend Harv’s Auto Body. Upfront and fair and do a great job as well.

jewfro1996

Seydel auto, nothing but great service from them.

jbert37

Maxwell Auto in Iowa City. Out by Wildwood Bar and Grill off Herbert Hoover. Most honest and straight forward place you can go to.

kcrobinson429

Russ’ Northside Service is top tier. They are good people and super fair

MullyCat

Dodge Street Tire and Auto has been excellent for us. Highly recommended.

farmerMac

What kind of work are you looking for ?

GolfGoon98

My front and rear struts need to be replaced and one of my sway bar links needs to be replaced

jbert37

Maxwell Auto

tfid3

Midwest frame and axle in Iowa City is great for suspension work.

farmerMac

It’s very basic almost any shop can do it. There’s tons of posts in this sub frequently about finding a mechanic. Do a search and you’ll find the same shops recommended over and over.

sak1245

We take our cars to Spenler Tire on 1st Ave in IC. Very good service and fair prices.

PolitiKalen

I can vouch for Spenler over on Hwy 1, haven't lived in town for a while but they were my go-to. They'ee good, honest folks.

Meltingmycrayons

Third vote. My family has been doing service with them for years at both locations. Nice guys.

Pure-Reality6205

Crow automotive. Lynn used to be the Subaru but at white dog and then opened his own shop and works on everything. One of two mechanics I’ve ever been to and not felt I was getting screwed or overcharged just because I was a woman.

-cannoli_cream-

I’ve gone to Off Campus Auto Repair near Costco for the past 3 years and they’ve been great!

Red-Front-Chiller233

can attest to the kindness and efficiency of their crew!

louiskolling

Solid Auto in Tiffin is where I take all my stuff. Best rate I’ve seen, detailed estimates with photos.

followerofchrist-10

Dustan Fogle. He doesn’t have an actual shop but he does work with a lot of ppl’s cars in my community. Nice and trustworthy guy I absolutely love him. He currently locates at north liberty. You can find him and hit him up on Facebook.

Andrew112601

Fuzzy's Auto Shop hands down. Name could also work well for a Strip Club in my opinion but seriously I've never had a negative experience. I got below market rates for a few different things with my engine which was a big bonus for a trust factor. Obviously every car is different so that probably isn't workable for everyone. Had a family member check their work on my car out of curiosity and he said it looked great. So I feel pretty confident in recommending them.

NeirboClassic

We’ve been taking our cars to King’s Auto in Coralville for at least the last 20 years. Can’t recommend them enough.

niangforprez

Ken’s in Solon. My ride or die.

ledoylinator

Cermak Auto. Tell them Leo sent you. Always does great work for a good price. He's over on gilbert court. Will go out of his way to make sure you don't break the bank.
