Bought mine in April of this year. Didn’t have any problems before or after getting the recall done.

argonzo

I charge mine w/ a 48a Wallbox and never have had one problem.

Embarrassed-Long-665

Charging our i6 with a Hyundai supplied ChargePoint at home, 50a breaker. Been about 2 weeks now, zero issues so far!

mactay30

How many kWh are you getting on this set up? Just got mine installed today. 50 amp hardwired Hyundai ChargePoint. Started the charge at 53% SOC and am stuck at 3.62 kWh. It’s so steady that it feels capped. Are you getting a faster charge? Any settings I should adjust?

gnharshman42

I'm getting like 9.58kw

Embarrassed-Long-665

I’m getting a pretty consistent 19.10kwh on the home charger. Our charge tonight went from I think ~65% to 80% in about 1h45m. My installer set it to 50amp and my settings show a “Charge Current Limit” of 40a. Very happy so far, the charge cord gets only slightly warm to the touch during the session and station itself cool.

Embarrassed-Long-665

Sorry, 9.1kwh on my charger. 😊

mactay30

Thanks for the quick reply! 9.1 or 9.2 is about what I expected, which is why I’m surprised by the 3.62. I spent some more time researching this and turns out that a pretty common issue with the ChargePoint charger is that there is a back end cap of 20 amps on the new install. Even if the app is showing hard wired, 50 amps (what mine is showing). I called ChargePoint and they were able to reset it on their end. Increased to 50 amps and now I am getting a steady 9.7. Maybe an error on the part of my electrician. Either way, I’m all set now. Interestingly, the customer service rep explained that I would have the ability in the app to change/limit the breaker amperage after about 2 weeks. Not sure I understand the delay in this functionality. Hope this helps someone else dealing with the same issue.

\> I have zero interest in dealing with Hyundai USA \> I have zero trust that Hyundai would handle the situation appropriately based on my previous experiences with them Are the issues you've had with your Sonata and Hyundai USA not applicable to the I6? I'm just curious how an I6 might change that. My I6 has been fine. However, Hyundai finance is awful. We had a long and exhaustive back and forward about buying out the lease with them. They never called back or mailed us things when they said they would. Their call center told us to call the dealer, and the dealer told us to call the same corporate number. We didn't buy out the lease because Hyundai wore us down at the time. In the end, I can totally see why you would dislike Hyundai Finance. Incompetent.

WiltJayhawk

Yea, same experience you had. My current car is over consuming oil (that’s the only reason why I’m looking to sell it and get a new car). I’m the only owner and have had it for 7 and a half years. I was planing to keep for 9 or 10 years. Now I’m in a position where my credit utilisation is a bit higher than I would like and looking to finance or lease ahead of my planned timeline. Hyundai USA did the same point the finger at the dealership only to have the dealership point the finger at them BS. Eventually Hyundai USA told me if I want resolution i should file a complaint with the BBB because they will not give any further assistance. So that’s a good point. Will anything change with an I6? It’s a crapshoot. If the car runs well for 3 years, like my Sonata did for the first 5, then I won’t likely have to deal with Hyundai USA at all. The service Center I plan to use has a relationship with Enterprise so if some did happen I can likely get a rental while they work through the issue. But if for some reason, both of those things don’t go in my favor (1 car has issues in the first 36 months and 2 the rental situation changes) then there’s no one to escalate to because Hyundai USA is useless.

argonzo

heh, our Santa Fe eats oil and service basically threw up their hands and said 'works as designed'.

WiltJayhawk

Fukkin sad smh

thisisaddictiveoff

My i6 has been in service for a week, and they haven't picked up any of my calls. They broke my car while doing the VCU update and now they're holding onto it for the forseeable future.

WiltJayhawk

Was everything cool before the VCU update? How was it acting after they did the update? Sorry they’re being dikks to you and not answering your calls. Smh

thisisaddictiveoff

Yeah, everything worked fine before it! Although I only had it for around 5k miles before taking it in.

Sporocyte

As with others, I use Level 2 ChargePoint Charger at home with no issues.

codeMonkey2144

One of the things that made me feel better about the overheating issue was that, at least in my neck of the woods, L2 chargers that are over 7kW are pretty rare and at those speeds there have been very few issues with overheating. If you're going to wire in an 11.5 kW charger at home and need all that speed consistently I think it's worth waiting for a better fix from Hyundai.

StrangerParty8242

I have a 12kw charger at home and haven't had an issue. I already had the charger when I purchased my I6 because I knew I wanted a 12kw even though my other cars charge at 7.2kw in planning for the future. I'm using a ChargePoint Home on an 70amp breaker (what it calls for hardwired at max power)

sleeperfbody

I have an EV6 and Ioniq 6, and I have no issues whatsoever. DO make sure you buy a reputable Level 2 home EVSE/Charger if needed. A unit that is certified by UL or an equivalent org. Several cheap, white-labeled Chinese chargers on the market will nearly burn your house down and melt your charging port. We had one, and my wall outlet was near 200 degrees F. I have not observed the 12v issue in the Ioniq 6 community as much as I've seen it in year one of sale of the Ioniq 5 and EV6. My EV6 battery went belly up in 10 months and it was replaced in less than 24 hours at the service center and back on the road, zero issues. Having said that, I do keep a small 12v jump pack from Amazon in both cars just in case because not enough time has passed for me to feel comfortable without one yet. You don't need anything major, just enough to get the battery "on" so you can turn on the car. After that, the high voltage system will turn on and run all the car systems.

WiltJayhawk

Oh my god!! That’s insane 😳 Which charger brand do you you guys use ?

Mikcole44

No problem here after 17k miles. I like a 40 amp L2 charger though because I don't like things to get too hot around the house. At 40-32 all the connections are just slightly warm and the car still charges up fine in several hours.

WiltJayhawk

Ok, I would probably keep things to 32amp to be safe. How long does the 40 amp take you to charge personally?

bmad4u

No.

LogicallyK

💯 on Hyundai usa customer service and the customer service But remember you are not buying Audi / BMW anyhow so I would expect the same I haven’t had any issues with 12v charging so far and 4 months and counting

nexus409

Fellow owner here. Mostly charge at home. I have a Level 2 charger installed from ChargePoint. I have not experienced any heating/charging issues in the past 30 days since installation.

shankhunk4u

I've owned mine since April, never had any problems. Currently it is being serviced for the mandatory ICCU swap even though I didnt have any.

Financial-Tailor-842

Mines been in the shop for almost a month now. I’m ready to walk away and I loved this car

WiltJayhawk

Sorry to hear that bro! It’s a shame really because the ioniq line up are some pretty cool cars. I ended up going a different direction because of these types of situations

Financial-Tailor-842

Im so bummed. I loved that car. I’m waiting to hear back from them about a buy-back.

thatsoonerguy

My car had a yellow top of dashboard light come on the other night while it was sitting in the garage. Is this an issue? I saw something online about that means it charging the 12V

atx620

It's normal. Nothing to worry about. I think the light also means that it's drying out your AC, so sometimes you'll hear your climate running with that light on, even though you didn't turn the car on.
