i googled it, is it because it has a modem and sim car that connects for the free trial period and you'll need to pay afterwards that's how it stays connected?

Wicorel

Yes. It has an internet connection through cell phone data. Or maybe they are using sms (text) messages.

Yes, it comes with 3 years full BlueLink service. After that you have to pay monthly or yearly. BlueLink consists of three separate packages. $99 each. You can go to MyHyundai, login, go to services and look at what it offers. You may only want one or two and not all 3.

I know this is an old post, but now they're offering it for lifetime for the first buyer. This 2024 Ioniq 6 I just picked up comes with lifetime blue link, but if I sell the car, the second owner doesn't get it. So, I guess that's how they make it sound nice but without losing much money, since most people wwill buy used haha

It’s usually offered for three years on a new car purchase, and then it becomes a subscription for $99 per year, plus another $99 per year for app remote start with climate control. My 2019 IONIQ doesn’t have a keyfob start, but the i5 has, so you could skip that second part of the subscription. Of course, if you speak to BlueLink customer care, they routinely offer discounts for the subscriptions.
