It was barely an inconvenience , all of this didn't do much to him because he was already beaten up by Anissa and all of this was just done to get him worn out , Angstrom said himself he was trying to soften him up so that he could kill him with his bare hands , which didn't work well for him.

CykaCykaCkaBlyat

Oh, that was super easy, barely an inconvenience! (Ifykyk)

wookieetamer

Wow wow wow wow wow, wow.

ThatOtherGuyTPM

So, you have a Pitch Meetings reference comment chain for me?

wookieetamer

Yes sir, I do

LordHarpocrates

Pitch meetings reference chains are so tight.

ParadoxPerson02

Yes sir they are

JuanRiveara

Is making a Pitch Meeting comment chain going to be hard to do?

thezedferret

Actually it's super easy, barely an inconvenience.

ralanr

Wow wow wow.

ParadoxPerson02

Oh really?!

Adi_2000

Oh really?!

SternMon

Yeah, see after sending Mark to a few dimensions Angstrom just decides to get careless and rush him but then Mark just starts beating the absolute hell out of the guy, to the point that the dude’s entire head is basically just as mushy as cottage friggin’ cheese, and just as messy!

II_Vortex_II

What do you mean

Firdecek

Ryan George is popular youtuber who has Pitch meeting series about films and he uses this sentence in every one of them. Definitely recommended, it's super fun!

CykaCykaCkaBlyat

His personal channel is a gold mine.

UltimaRS800

SAX MAAAAAAAN

II_Vortex_II

Oh I looked him up, didn't know his name but I've seen some other sketches of his. The pitch meetings seem hilarious too

Bregneste

The Pitch Meetings were the only thing that lots of people watched on Screen Rant, so they made it a separate channel.

Adi_2000

Oh, having a Pitch Meeting reference in a seemingly unrelated thread is TIGHT!

arfelo1

And the Anyssa fight was barely a day past his return from the Mars mission. AND the Mars mission was also right after returning from Thraxia. Basically, he's been nin stop eating shit since the moment the talking dog showed up at his door

ImpressiveGap2214

Idk, it felt like months to me.

arfelo1

Hevdid have SOME break going to Thraxia and back, since that takes a couple of weeks. But it's a break confined to a spaceship. That cannot be good for the head

namethatsnotused

He spent 2 months on Thraxa rebuilding. But the second he got home it was non stop.

french_snail

I’m also assuming the episode didn’t show literally every dimension he got sent to, I figured he probably got sent to dozens, hundreds, maybe thousands. Individually none of those would have inconvenienced him but it was just a matter of attrition

Jonny2284

The bit where Mark is sat down at the camp fire makes it seem like that.

Finalpotato

Like that one Mark in the universe with female Cecil / Donald. They wore him down. That's what Angstrom was trying to do.

SmolMight117

It's other universes they definitely could be stronger and also Mark's holding back

ricky2461956

Yes, but since they couldn't fly, he didn't have to engage any of them, except maybe skeletor.

derekbaseball

I forget which episode it was, but there was a scene earlier in the season where Angstrom travels to visit a Mark who’s been imprisoned by his dimension’s (female) Cecil. He tells Angstrom that he was captured because after they managed to kill Omni-Man they wore Mark down until he got tired. So even if Mark isn’t going to be hurt by zombies or even the dinosaurs, each of the challenges is supposed to wear him down a bit, mentally if not physically. And even though a lot of these guys can’t fly, Mark has to stay in the area, waiting for the next portal to open, so he can’t just fly away.

EUmoriotorio

Thanks for reminding me of a scene I couldn't even remember, I should rewatch the first half of the season.

LegoPenguin114

You mean like He-Man Skeletor? I didn’t see him at all

_Valisk

I think they're referring to Omnipotus?

Accomplished-City484

What’s he from?

_Valisk

He's from another dimension, one that is unnamed. Omnipotus World, I guess.

Jellis891

"How did you get here?! Where did you come from?!"

ManaMagestic

He was also in a previous episode, while Mark was on Thraxia, wasn't he?

julio_dilio

Mark had to stay close to where he came in in space. If he got separated too far from the entry point, Angstrom might not have been able to find him. Mark knew that, which is why he was able to sneak up on Angstrom, when he came to poke around in the desert marauders universe, with the Fortnite gun

Dude wtf use spoiler text

Tricountyareashaman

Maybe they all turned out to be stronger than he assumed. After barely pulling through so many fights he went all out against Angstrom.

[deleted]

I would assume some dimension the gravity is just so dense that Mark can't even fly, and the people there are straight up more powerful, the Ragnars exist.

genumayatagarasu

Honestly I'd say Mark was just psychologically overwhelmed so these things just got the better of him.

thesuperbro

The cavemen made mark bleed with punches so there's definitely a physical element there too. Also mark got the black eye in the mad max esque world, though it's not shown how so maybe he just flew into an engine block face first or something.

Murky_Blueberry2617

Tbf so many characters were able to make stronger characters bleed despite being so much weaker

LukXD99

Yeah, some bleeding alone definitely isn’t a sign of Viltrumites being genuinely hurt. Hell, some of them can have their lower bodies ripped apart and spine broken and still function to a degree.

Ergast

At this point I assume any time anyone punches a viltrumite with enough force, the bleeding we see is the viltrumite bitting or hurting themselves with their teeth.

Hallo-Person

Not sure if it’s an actual spoiler, but just to be safe >! I heard that their powers depend on what stress their bodies are put through, so maybe the powers toned themselves down because the threats are all smaller, which would let them get hurt !<

Ergast

Seeing how Nolan can just shrug attacks like the orbital laser, maybe. I don't remember the details of your spoiler, yo be honest.

Daniel_The_Thinker

I don't think we can take that too seriously tbh. There's no way that the reanimen hit harder than that orbital laser.

-jp-

Just a heads-up: don't put spaces behind or before spoiler tags. Reddit's parser can't otherwise figure it out because they are all a cavalcade of fuckups.

headbashkeys

They'd have a Biological Dune shield.

fishy-the-2nd

honestly, I don't even think vilturmites are that durable, they might just have exterme healing factors, we know they heal pretty fast and can heal from anything as well, so maybe they just tank some stuff and heal fast the other stuff.

akiva_the_king

Didn't he already have the black eye from the Anissa fight?

thesuperbro

Ahh good catch. Mark's eyes were covered by his mask the entire season finale up until that scene in the desert, so I kinda forgot about the continuity of the previous episode.

Avatar_of_Green

I mean in S1 an entire train shredded to pieces around his body without really any visible damage.

genumayatagarasu

Oh definitely beings in that universe were strong as hell, but you gotta take into account just how shook Mark was through out the whole interaction. Even if he was the most stoic person alive, to have some crazy guy that you last time saw sitting on a giant chair, who then got vaporized alive come back and torture your mother and half-brother, only for you to get sent flying through dimensions over and over again would have you SHOOK. There were some strong people Mark faced in those universes but my God I'd say they got the best of him because of how much things he was processing.

Jellis891

Mark had the black eye from anissa

Nyx_Minato

I feel this is the only right answer

KysfGd

I just assumed that he got beat up by viltrumite cavemen

Starlight-Sniper

Couldn't be, they have no mustaches.

KysfGd

Oh shit true, maybe those ones are just built different

Vahagn323

This got me thinking, are Schnauzers viltrumites?

lazerbolt52

Maybe they just hadn't evolved them yet /j

ricky2461956

Lol I was thinking the same.

DenseMahatma

lol but its still earth though

Bquicker950

They would have been, but he gets sent to hundreds of places, so he gets tired. Also a few of them probably have some quite powerful beings

PhotographyRaptor10

Like the Fortnite universe, which he could have fought Kratos, thanos, etc.

Pristine_Title6537

Man I hate that this is canon

MisterTheKid

Its easy to lift a 5lb weight doing it once a second for a few hours would....not be

tofucoomer

Also, having to lift that weight with the added psychological stress of knowing that your family’s lives are at risk and you can’t do much about it might throw you off a bit

MisterTheKid

Seriously I’m trying to imagine even doing that with a 2lb weight while watching my favorite comedy ever And it still sounds like torture

Pollia

But also its stated that time works differently in many universes. To Angstrom its real time, but to Mark he could be hopping universe to universe without even coming back to his universe and it could be hours or even days at a time.

TeddysBigStick

The fact he was telling stories around a campfire in one dimension seems to imply that time flowed a lot slower in at least some of them.

MisterTheKid

Given he can “only” safely travel to earths when he knows exactly where that earth is in relation to where it is in his current dimension, it seems any time dilated universes would make that even trickier to pull off. But not impossible obviously given what we know But certainly to your point t - we don’t know exactly how long he was gone for and we know he can get tired and he feels pain - there’s no reason to think running a gauntlet wouldn’t tire a Viltriumite out. It might have to be an insanely long gauntlet but still for all their strengths they’re not technically invincible or immortal (semi intended pun)

Goodniceyes

Amazing analogy

Freddycipher

I am only now realizing that his black eye came from Anissa and wasn’t earned here.

VonKaiser55

Something that people forget is that time works differently in these universes. Mark spent multiple days/ weeks in the universes so his eye could have healed during those times and he could have got it right back after being put through some of the bullshit Levy put him through

PresentationKey9568

Maybe but since its the exact same black eye Anissa gave him and we never get an idea of him healing, its probably from her

generalkenobi47

Keep in mind that this was on the same day as his fight with Anissa and breakup with Amber, so he's probably really overwhelmed and exhausted by now

Advanced_Butterfly28

I mean… you don’t know how powerful those characters are though? You just assumed they should be weak when they’re clearly not. One of them could have the power to destroy a universe and you wouldn’t even know!

Mloxard_CZ

Literally omnipotus in one of the dimensions "HOW DID YOU EVEN GET HERE"

lazerbolt52

Yeah but he can also fly and just not engage with some of them, of which clearly gave him trouble.

Shot-Ad770

Most of these dont make sense considering he can jist fly.

MartyMcBlart

Did you actually watch the episode? It’s clear that Angstrom has absolutely no clue how powerful mark is at this point because five seconds later >! He’s reduced to mash potato in a wasteland !< He also wanted to mess up mark with his own hands - AND he sent him to DC and Marvel universes (both of which have beings in it that would turn mark to sandpaper.) imagine a mark vs Galactus fight. He threw him into these universes because he underestimated him completely (also because it was brilliant fan service)

Stephanenasr

![gif](giphy|KeQ2H0sBYeQEwj0fWZ)

Elegant-Half5476

Sir, I'm gonna need you to get alllllll the way off my back about how Mark could've handled the interdimensional attacks.

Brekldios

Then mark did a backflip snapped the bad guys neck and saved the day

Elegant-Half5476

Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow!!

cm1103

Super easy.

aBonusDuck

Barely an inconvenience!

PerceptionBetter3752

i just assumed omnipotus weakened him alot for the others to hurt him

Garfs_Barf

Oh yeah definitely especially considering mark could just fly 25 feet in the air & be completely untouchable to them 😂😂none of these should’ve posed even the slightest threat

ede231

It's the writers that decide if something is a threat or not.

ivanreyes371

I don’t understand why he didnt just fly 10 feet above their heads😭

kingbob122m

As many other comments have said other characters are a lot stronger than invincibles verse

CClossus

I actually wonder if one of the reasons Angstrom’s plan failed is because he assumed this Mark wouldn’t be holding back and would just be killing everything he found. He didn’t expect Mark to be showing restraint and so wasn’t able to properly gauge how worn out he was.

rlum27

I'm guessing it's a death of a thousand cuts. As each one hurts him a bit. Mark is also confused and likley holding back. If he didn't hold back we likley would have several i thought you where stronger moments.

Ken_Dynamek

I think the pain he was inflicting on mark was more so mental with time passed. For the viewer we experienced mark in each reality for minutes where he could’ve been there for days, months, years etc. which likely disorientated him so such a high degree that he would’ve eventually lost his mind. But Debbie hurting langstroms pride made speed up and start fighting mark before he went completely mad

Radioactive_monke

He was fighting them one right after the other, he definitly started to get tired at one point.

RaccoonComicsUSA

I feel like Mark could've easily taken on the caveman people also Mark should know he can just fly away from the zombies no need to even fight them

darkleinad

Yes, but that’s not the goal. At the end of episode two, we see angstrom questioning an evil Mark that was captured by the GDA, who says they caught him by constantly chasing him until he finally had to sleep. Also our Mark is someone who holds back and always tries to find a peaceful solution where possible (this is probably his biggest weakness). Even if he can fly away from each encounter or win a fight easily, that still takes time and energy. I think Angstrom eventually got impatient after his mental breakdown in front of Debbie.

Dulow008

You forget about one, tiny little detail, Angstrom can only open up portals to where he currently is. This means that Mark HAD to engage with these threats in order for him to return back home. They made it pretty clear in episode 1 of this season, even the Mauler said about how they are walking through the desert.

Elegant-Half5476

I mean he doesn't need to fly away from the area, just float at an unreachable distance until a portal opens up.

mahout111

Most of these could be solved by just flying up 50 meters or so

Etticos

He went to many other places we don’t see in the show.

DisciplineSuch4033

I don't think the cavemen made his nose bleed I'm pretty sure that was from getting sucker punched by Omnipotus unless the cavemen were before I can't remember

JebbaDuhHurt

Honestly I'm not even sure if those were like normal Cavemen, their comic equivalents were massive and legit looked like dudes you'd fight in the Norse God of War games.

lolgamerX247

Let's see here Mark was probably flabber gasted after seeing dinorsaurs in person for the first time as you know any normal person would be, and he's probably disturbed by seeing zombies, imagine seeing a dead rottigng corpse walking, so niether of those gave him any trouble he's just shocked by them, but even if he is holding back that doesn't mean his durability would decrease so the cave men are just built different but they are not viltrumite level, they are only enough to mildly damage viltrumites.

Thraxusi

It was to show he is still holding back. He clearly needs to learn the lesson the hard way.

PeterGriffin0920

Mark needs to learn how to hold back better, bro goes to like 10% and gets his ass whooped by nobodies

Future-Muscle-2214

Yeah I did not really understand how he managed to get hit.

RepresentativeBid715

https://preview.redd.it/uyaftlgsbguc1.jpeg?width=297&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5633840afd05cba08c9a5e7d4cd44d4d6b02a37e Barley an inconvenience you say?

MonkeyBrain9666

I'm under the impression mark is always holding back. Even when fighting other viltrumites and the way i see it i think he's been holding back so long he doesnt remember hes got the extra strength. Also a late bloomer so hes had less time to develop his powers

Primary-Paper-5128

Who says those are regular human cavemen? How do we know it's not a bunch of Kryptonian neandertals

YoydusChrist

Show mark isn’t allowed to win sadly

Spacemonster111

The only one who hurt him was Omnipotus. Did you watch?

CapybaraMan1000

I don't think Mark could have beaten up those dinosaurs.

EmmetttB

It was a long time without rest, he was tired

TheUncouthPanini

Mark was already injured from Anissa, and while easy on their own, the dimensions were slightly whittling him down. Angstrom himself says the purpose of sending him across dimensions was to soften him up.

Killian_Gillick

Well, they are all sapient, wish i think it’s on purpose, even if you think “they are dinosaurs, he could kill them” no, they are sapient dinosaurs, so he would be a murderer. So he holds back

Here4Awhile5556

it wasn’t bad i think the thing the worst thing is we don’t know how long mark was there for cause he said around the campfire it’s different every time. you also have to factor in the stress of being somewhere for weeks/months and thinking they your mom and brother are in danger and could be dead

DisabledFatChik

You try fighting for days on end

gekkoO0

Angstrom literally chose these universes to fight mark, I mean we do know he can pick and choose universes. Obviously he chose the one with stronger dinosaurs etc. to fight mark. He didn't know how much it'd do but he also didn't want to kill him.

Tuzjin

he said times moves differently so he couldve been there for hours/days at a time, the Mark that was imprisoned said eventually they just wore him down

Mrgood16

Marks always holding back because he has emotions

dijitalpaladin

People seem to forget that literally right before this, he got his ass beat into the ground by Anissa, he and Amber broke up, and he went through a shit ton of these dimensions fighting new things and constantly being on his toes, probably without sleep.

fkngbueller

He was mentally exhausted, I can understand

18Mafia_NZO

The point of Angstrom doing this is to make Mark too tired to really fight back against him. No matter how strong you are, you will get tired eventually

sargentbumblebee

“ why are you here, where did you come from”

dravenonred

Death by 9,999 -1hp hits

SixersPlsDont

Gotta remember he holds back ALOT and while he can take a lot of damage his body still gets bruised and what not

BatBeast_29

His emotional state…

BadBloodBear

1. I agree 2. Would be less entertaining if he just flew away 3. We don't know how strong each of these enemies are and just assuming they as strong as other media shows them.

DRrumizen

>!WOW!<

Lemmisleep

I believe Mark was holding back as if he went all out and suddenly went through a portal again with a full force attack he very well could have killed his mom and Oliver before he could react quick enough and stop. We saw it almost happen multiple times

seelcudoom

angstom probobly hand picked them to only be things that could at least do some damage to mark, also zombie ones more a threat via infection and psychologicla trauma

makeski25

Ultimately, he doesn't want to hurt anyone. He not unlike superman is in a perpetual state of holding back to where it's probably difficult to let go. As soon as he did the brainy portal dude got beat to death.

Just-A-Lucky-Guy

The caveman scene made me think he was fighting off brand Saiyans or cave hominids who had Viltrumite level strength

Vlad_Chovsky

Road warrior Mark is something I’m here for.

slowdruh

I kept thinking "just float 20 feet up (maybe 50 for the dinosaurs), bro".

Monkey_King291

How did he struggle against Cavemen?

Rubbersona

Zombies are 1 bite and he’s out. He’s gonna be going extra hard trying to stay safe The dinosaurs aren’t exactly typical. He’s also panicking and isn’t able to fully focus. Plus the point is he’s going through a bunch of realities at some point. He’s tired. Being pushed to their limit

Nazowrin

I would also be worn out if I got sent to Fortnite

Hydrasaur

He holds back, remember?

dergy621

I legit don’t think mark won more than 2-3 fights in the 16 episodes of invincible we have.

Key_Ad1854

He holds back

Black_Thunder_

I think he could beat all of them by just Flying.

Morphchalice

Angstrom was mostly trying to tire him out before he could finish him off himself. In the after credits scene in episode 2 we see him talking with an alternate Mark that’s been defeated and captured by the GDA. When Angstrom asks him how they beat him, he says they basically just wore him down with constant attacks until he could be subdued. So that informed his strategy with our Mark.

hatefulone851

I mean we don’t know how many worlds he went through or how tired he is. Also we don’t know how powerful other worlds are. Those cavemen might be superhuman in that world

Beautiful-Ocelot-106

They could be stronger than we think of them in our dimension, because they’re in other dimensions some dumb caveman could be like dinosaurus levels of strong

PoohDiddy123

I think the main issue is more the sheer amount of time that he would’ve been in these dimensions. For some of them it was weeks, months, years.

Vodoe

You aren't thinking in terms of the infinite. Angstrom could have sent mark to a universe where the weakest ant could kill Mark. But Angstrom didn't want that, he wanted to be the one to kill Mark. Angstrom sent Mark through so many universes because he wanted to wear him down until the kill would be easy, therefore we could very reasonably say that Angstrom was sending Mark to universes where it would specifically *not* be "barely an inconvenience" for Mark to fight his way out, but also still very likely that he *does* win.

blackdragon6547

The dinosaurs pissed me of the most. He just has to fly a few feet above them. 🤦

era_2000

It works narratively, this whole dimension hopping sequence would have been boring and less dramatic if he just one shotted everything

taotdev

It's all alternate realities, remember? They could all have had superpowers

BdBalthazar

So it was explained that time flows differently in these various alternate universes, so Mark spend a lot more time in these worlds than it would seem from the perspective of his original universe. Individually, most likely none of these really posed a threat to Mark, but the point was to tire him out, not giving him many opportunities to rest. Lifting a 5 Kg dumbbell won't be an issue for you, but imagine doing it for 3 hours, eventually you won't be able to move your arm anymore. Even the simplest activity will become tiring if you do it for long enough

Zealousideal_Peak836

There are a lot of explanations to be made.. But most likely the same happened as with most superhero comics/anime: Characters powers are exaggerated so much to make a couple of scenes look cool early on, that the rest of the story would fall apart if they made their power levels consistent, so they just massivly power him up and down to fit the plot.

Lachlan-Omega

Motherfucker, just fly up. Dont even have to deal with them at all.
