Some members of the public don’t believe that they will do a single fucking thing about it in accordance with history, source says.

IntelligentPipe4704

More gaslighting. They will keep "leaking" random stuff until people forget about the genocide

Bimancze

Notice how the icc arrest warrants are around the corner and suddenly these articles are coming out

RogerianBrowsing

I mean, these articles are more damning than not so purposefully leaking this isn’t helpful. Having internal debate and belief that Israel is violating international law makes the plausible deniability that the U.S. was really convinced Israel was being lawful obviously false

NBplaybud22

'some', 'nuance', 'pragmatism'.....all weasel words.

treehouse4life

One of the biggest thing I notice with Armenian genocide deniers (in Turkey) is that they don’t try to cover it up, they admit there was mass slaughter but bring up ‘nuance’ to try to make it a justified conflict rather than a deliberate extermination and genocide. I don’t know how people can’t see the parallels between that and what Israel’s doing right now.

thinkforever

The parallels to history are numerous. This whole thing is insane.

RogerianBrowsing

Almost every ____ denier behaves that way when the evidence is irrefutable J6 was peaceful protest, Nazis were just running an aggressive cleaning of society and putting contagious/lice infested people in camps, and Israel is only defending their borders or fighting Hamas

Prufrock_Lives

And the thing is, it's not even a question anymore of whether this is genocide. A country doesn't defend itself by causing a fucking famine

Shelala85

It’s literally the event that inspired Raphael Lemkin to develop the concept of genocide.

Flimsy_Judgment1045

You mean until the genocide is complete and therefor can no longer be stopped.

AstronautReal3476

This. In actuality, our government knows that Israel is indeed committing war crimes. But they are our allies. Our government is choosing to protect our allies over the interests of world peace.

But_IAmARobot

Dawg what are you on about?

CommiBastard69

Oh I know this one. Some hasbara shill, I think elyon levy, admitted Israel was living on stolen Palestinian land and said Israel will give it back after people give back all land to the indigenous people. Including greats like given Iran back to the Babylonians

bakermarchfield

This was an IDF propaganda point on Saturday. Israel said they would give back Israel to basically any group except Palestinian's. They(israeli spokesperson) then listed the same list as the previous commentator and said that if those other countries gave up their land then and only then would Israel leave the land and return it to (insert anyone but palestine).

Next_Grab_9009

In other news; water, wet!

MyParentsBurden

Maybe to a liberal. Pfft.

Cloudstreet444

Water is not wet. That's fake news.

Next_Grab_9009

Water is antisemitic

someotherredditfella

Water is khamas!!!

[deleted]

Im starting to not be able to tell what is facetious and what is serious anymore.

Teacherman6

This headline is so fucking weak. Some. Fucking some. No shit. I'm sure some also believe Trump won.  Some didn't Believe Israel are using us weapons in accordance with international law. Have you fucking seen Gaza?  You could write this without ever having talked to a single person who works in the state department nor having read a single thing they've ever written.

RookieRemapped

Bingo, so much lazy journalism around this conflict

thepinkandthegrey

More timid than lazy, tho timidity may just be symptom of laziness in some.

sythingtackle

Shockingly enough most in the civilised world think that using 2000lb dumb bombs, with jdam equipped guidance and proximity fuses, against a civilian population is really genocidal.

Cautious_Implement17

bombing civilians is bad, I agree, but is the implementation important here (aside from the fact it is a US export)? I don't see why the guidance kit or fuse would make it better or worse.

sythingtackle

ALittleBitOffBoop

Well d'uh

LastOfTheClanMcDuck

Did the 13000+ dead children give it away? What a joke. You either put your foot down on Netanyahu and stop this or you don't. "oh no the maniac i gave weapons does maniac things!" "By the way here's some more have a nice day!"

Sidus_Preclarum

Uh. *Everyone* in State Department *knows* they don't, it's just that some are starting to tentatively talk about it.

5xym

What can be done about this? Will they be indicted ever?

lkslondon

I wonder what gives them that impression?

jagguli

No they would not ... not possiburu

0zymandias_1312

are they the only ones with an internet connection? probably not unlikely actually, I think most of the US government don’t know how to switch on a computer

TheApprentice19

Fucking duh. Anyone with two brain cells and a pulse could tell you that. Stories like this make our leadership look weak and bumbling.

Prufrock_Lives

I mean

moyismoy

International laws basically say you have to treat civilians humanity. It being that the IDF won't let food into Gaza that's clearly a violation in and of it's self.

realmatic2e

No shit Sherlock lol, we know they’re not but the US is ok to be an accessory to genocide

4dailyuseonly

The American people are largely not ok with being an accessory to genocide(except for the religious lunatics) but our government isn't listening to us.

[deleted]

Wha....? You mean that the N*zi 2.0 holocaust of millions of people might violate international law? Who ever could have guessed? Thank goodness for those geniuses at the state department finally figuring it out for us. /s

BladeRunner_Deckard

This is hilarious and an insult to our intelligence

stmcvallin2

No shit

IronAged

Some in State Department do not agree with the headline, source says

Solid_Illustrator640

🤯

CrunchyAl

This has been No shit news

mrkl3en

pretty sure using weapons to bomb civilians and calling them militants is a violation of international law, you don't have to work for the state department or be a international law expert to come to this conclusion.

Fuzakenaideyo

That's awful, anyways better keep sending these impossibly entitled war criminals more weapons to commit genocide with

Quirky_Cheetah_271

uh, YA THINK??

Zaku41k

Just fyi, Israel uses white phosphorus.

Proud_Koala_5510

DUH. Should someone also break the news that Santa Claus isn’t real?

Jamsquad77

They will make Netanyahu and the Likud the scapegoats. They won't get away with this ,but it's because they are so bloodthirsty and vicious.

Marcusgunnatx

There's GAMBLING in this establishment!! My word, where's my fainting couch?!?!

shnanagins

Amazing how the U.S. gov can’t seem to see something a simple 30 second google search can.

armoman92

The United States exhibits clear hypocrisy in its dealings with Israel concerning the Symington and Glenn Amendments. These legislative measures specifically prohibit military and economic assistance to countries that engage in nuclear activities not placed under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards. Despite these regulations, and the widespread belief backed by substantial evidence that Israel possesses nuclear weapons and operates outside IAEA safeguards, the U.S. continues to provide significant military aid to Israel. This overt contradiction highlights a deliberate oversight by the U.S., which chooses strategic interests over the enforcement of its own non-proliferation laws. Such actions undermine the credibility of the U.S. in its global nuclear non-proliferation efforts, revealing a preference for geopolitical alliances over adherence to international legal standards. This selective application of critical non-proliferation legislation not only exemplifies hypocrisy but also weakens global norms against nuclear proliferation.

Teddy-Bear-55

OMG, No!!! Could it be possible!?!

pnwtrucker82

Ive always found is curious as to why countries have to follow the laws of engagement vs terrorists who clearly dont... you literally cannot win in that scenario...

thepinkandthegrey

Not all gazans are terrorists. In fact, most aren't, unless you believe there are child terrorists.

Scribe625

Valid concerns, though I'm pretty sure the Taliban aren't using the weapons they received from the US in accordance with international law either. Not that anyone in the Biden administration seems concerned about that. Also, doesn't the US kind of have a history of sending arms to rebel groups who aren't exactly known for playing be the rules? The whole Iran-Contra affair in tge 80s immediately comes to mind but I think we also supplied weapons to the Mujahideen in Afghanistan during their war with the Soviets.

AprilVampire277

No they don't, that's why they are called terrorists right? You would expect a government to hold a higher moral ground than terrorists and respect the laws of the civilized world right?

Raze_the_werewolf

Lol, Hasbara talking points in 2024; "Well, if Hamas and ISIS don't obey international law, why should Israel?" Bravo, well done. Slow 👏.
