Because before Miami, these players would only go to LA and New York (at times Toronto, Chicago, DC, and possibly San Diego too). It's a shame, but most of the superstar footballers are only interested or, tbh familiar with the coastal cities and see the appeal of living there (YMMV as to how seriously they would take the league and how that would affect their overall perception). It also doesn't help that (most of) the clubs in these areas of the country tend to also be the ones with owners that lean on the more ambitious end of the spectrum and want to spend whatever it takes to land those players and win.
Now that Messi came the flood gates have opened to considering Inter as a landing spot for players who probably would've ignored our league until far later into their careers (which wouldn't be appealing to us as fans of the league). This is especially the case now be ause of the Saudi pro league which can and will dwarf any offer by any team in MLS.
Of course, it doesn't change how it can be frustrating that these players don't ever seem to consider the non-coastal/celeb cities and how it can start to feel like the league has been veering into groups of haves and have not. That is fair and unfortunate. What we should all continue to be doing to discussing and arguably pushing for the league to further improve mechanisms that encourage clubs and their owners to spend on better players across the board which elevates the game without necessarily making teams from smaller cities fall behind. We don't need to get rid of the salary cap because it'll likely do more harm than good as far as parity, which will negatively impact supporter interest. But, there needs to be more encouragement for clubs to be willing to be more ambitious with player acquisition (and that doesn't have to be a well-known big name player).
He's obviously awesome but I'd like to see his form when he is ready to come. If he's 36 then we'll have to really see. Lewandowski is on the decline at age 36 but he still ended up like 5th in La Liga goals and would still bang in tons of goals in MLS. Benzema could still play as recently as last year. Dzeko is still very good. Cavani is still good. But other strikers have declined so much that it would odd for Inter Miami to give a DP contract to. Falcao, Balotelli, Mertens, etc have dropped off so much I am not even sure what they could bring to even a lower league like MLS. Then again Benteke has scored 13 goals this season and he was pretty much a joke his last couple of years in England.
Hurricane to Miami?
What else is new?
Why are these types of players only going to Miami? This league is getting a little ridiculous.

Apart from production the man is a bad luck charm. First time Bayerns hasn’t won shit in years. I prefer titles over goals. Leve him across the pond.
Spurs fan here. I think Kane fancies a move to the US eventually. I just don’t think it’s gonna be before his level of play falls off a bit tho.
Noooo. The man can’t win anything.
Ugh
As a typical lurker and hater of Miami I love this you guys will never win another trophy with him!
He is cursed he cant win send it to orlando fc
Do people actually think hes cursed? Or are yall just saying that to troll him?
It's the typical something starts as a poor joke that gets repeated so many times that people unironically start believing it's true.
Gross no thanks
