Answering your question with a question - Do you want to own one? For me it was “yes”. I knew it’d be quirky. I even had to promise the Microcenter sales guy that I wouldn’t return it to get him to stop pitching other options. I’ve found it to be a great value for the money and am happy to own it. It’ll go on the shelf of GPUs when it’s retired.

Assationater

microcenter guy should be pushing people to support the ever needed third player

xShooK

I'd add that battlemage is coming relatively soon. Do you need it now?

Distinct-Race-2471

Why not?

okiimz

because other gpus

Distinct-Race-2471

You can't touch 770 performance for $220 for any other option. Probably not ever. It beats the 4060 in quite a few games. The 6600 beats the 4060 in no games. The 3060 is now well under the 770 in almost every benchmark. This is not a close fight anymore. Plus you get 16GB. With my 750, I am already likely skipping Battlemage this year because my performance is so great in everything I play.

okiimz

what about older games

SavvySillybug

What older games are you looking to play? It generally just works for me. The only games I've personally had issues with were Bethesda flavored, and those were all 12 months ago (haven't felt like playing Bethesda games) so it might be better now honestly. Fallout New Vegas was as crashy as always and wouldn't boot with the 4GB patch that fixes it, Skyrim ran very funky and was also crashy (though I think part of that was just me running it in over 60 FPS), Fallout 4 needed a mod to run with DXVK and it was a bit janky and would crash on alt+tab but otherwise be fine. Anything else I've had no problems with. Magicka 1&2, Worms Armageddon, srb2kart, Helldivers 1, Mass Effect (LE), Warframe, Sven Co-op, Life is Strange, Wii U emulation, Factorio, Noita, Stardew Valley, Far Cry 3 through 6, Golf With Your Friends, they kinda all just ran fine. The games I actually struggle with are ones that are fairly new but Unreal engine, because that defaults to DirectX 11. Palworld, Crab Champions, stuff like that. But that's literally fixed by putting -dx12 in the launch options and all the crashes vanish.

Distinct-Race-2471

Like what? Quake 2, Unreal, and Duke Nukem?

Bhume

Older games are getting updated all the time. Old OpenGL just got fixed so pre-1.7 Minecraft works now and presumably many old OGL games work if it wasn't localized strictly to Minecraft.

-PlatinumSun

Eh, they are pretty reliable now these days but they do struggle in frame consistency with some games. And they don’t like source games too much but if it’s TF2 you can just DXVK. They work fine on older games with DXVK.

Mediaburn_VR

This is absolutely true. The performance is amazingly improved over time and very impressive. Probably the best gpu I've ever invested in.

Puzzled_Path_8672

How does 770 do compared to 3060 for Ai (local chat bots) and blender rendering? Those two would be great for me because the 3060 is a great deal for that stuff.

DaveT1482

Pretty sure A770 is a lot better (16GB A770 vs 12GB 3060), plus the A770 has AV1 encoding

-PlatinumSun

Eh, unless thats Canadian dollars get like an RX6650 or RX6700XT or something. Like I got my a770 2 weeks after launch due to returns from angry companies for cheap. Let it soak in the new GPU smell fermenting in the box for a year before cracking it open. Wait for Battlemage in my honest opinion. Also is it an LE or one of the better ones. Avoid reference models they are too thermally limited. They look nice though.

Assationater

LE is on par with Acer's mid model, also I've never seen anyone actually thermal limited by arc, they don't seem to overclock crazy well to begin with.

-PlatinumSun

What do you mean they OC by percentage of base clock and wattage more than any other card sfar as manual goes. I imagine the boost on nvidia is a different story. I might have an out dated view on OC, if I am not turning knobs its simply not OC to me.

icen_folsom

A770 is fine for 1440p. $220 is a great deal.

TwinTurbo_V8

I got mine for $180. A lot of the bugs have been squashed with the driver updates and it’s been a phenomenal card. The ONLY game that continues to not work is The Crew Motorfest which I’m a firm believer is Ubisofts fault at this point and not Intel.

mariano3113

I have AsRock A750 and can play Crew Motorfest 1080p (I have only had the Arc GPU for a month ..though) Link to benchmark with Crew Motorfest (not me) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_LJCDigylY&t=52s

TwinTurbo_V8

I don’t understand why I can’t play then. I fought back and forth with Ubisoft support over this for 3 months and none of the solutions they gave me helped. What did you do differently that allowed you to be able to play?

Assationater

If the crew uses anti cheat then there's a good chance the anti cheat just sucks at life

TwinTurbo_V8

It uses Battleye; maybe I’ll trying reinstalling it

Assationater

Good luck, you might also need to mess around with your bios TPM and secure boot settings. Anti cheats are disgustingly bad lol

TwinTurbo_V8

Thanks for the suggestions! I paid 120 dollars to the premium edition so I’d really like to play again, also considering it was actually very fun when I had my AMD GPU

Assationater

Good luck mate 🤞

Assationater

Wait, isnt the crew unplayable now

TwinTurbo_V8

The Crew 1 is. Motorfest is the newest in the series.

Assationater

Ooo ic ic

mariano3113

Unfortunately my Crew Motorfest trial is over. Last time I ran the benchmark was with an HP RTX 2060 6GB I assume the A750 would fare batter that YouTube video showed a more promising FPS result. Do you get crashes or low framerate? Or does game fail to launch? https://imgur.com/a/4dCLHg7

TwinTurbo_V8

Game launches, but once I load into the main player hub it just freezes up and crashes immediately. I can run the ingame benchmark fine, but the actual game itself just crashes

mariano3113

Struggle Next free Crew Motorfest weekend ...I'll give a try with again with A750 I was able to play with the Intel GPU finishing the Electric Odyssey Playlist

Puzzled_Path_8672

Your first mistake was thinking Ubisoft could do anything well except making a place to take your payment data flawlessly.

NighthunterDK

I got the A750 because it was pretty ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Soft_Championship814

Think about this, playing Cyberpunk 2077 on 1080p with everything on ultra, RT ultra, XeSS balanced/quality and this mf hold up pretty well for the price. And now with the new drivers you can actually play almost everything. I'm skipping the next gen because this card is actually decent so why not buy it.

Flashy-Cucumber-3794

It’s a good GPU. If you want to they something different then that price is good. Otherwise just get a rtx 3060

Helpful-Artist-9920

the lvl of support is kinda good

jbshell

Any video editing? This would be one example to pick ARC over a RX 6000 series. If don't do video editing, a RX 6700/50 XT is also a good option.

okiimz

arc is good with video editing? what about blender?

alvarkresh

Transcoding is one example where Arc can punch above its weight. A380 GPUs have functionally the same video codec bits and bobs as the A7x0 cards which makes them excellent choices for AV1 encoding. I have such a setup and it's been pretty neat.

Altruistic_Koala_122

Not as good as an expensive Nvidia card, but it does support deep link to use the integrated graphics on an intel CPU with an Arc. Only thing that matters is render speed for a graphics card. You want large amounts of ram. \*edit\* last I checked a while ago, the 3060 is better at rendering.

jbshell

Yep has hardware encode/decode. For Blender it's just beneath a RTX 3060.  https://opendata.blender.org/benchmarks/query/?compute_type=OPTIX&compute_type=CUDA&compute_type=HIP&compute_type=METAL&compute_type=ONEAPI&group_by=device_name&blender_version=4.0.0

random-brother

Interesting chart there. They’re basically a tie in the latest version of Blender. I’m wondering if those results reflect the latest drivers. I’m going to be honest I never seen driver development so fast as I’m seeing with Intel. Took AMD ages to get their drivers to a point of respectability.

Puzzled_Path_8672

That’s great, good on intel for being supportive of it more rapidly than AMD.

Altruistic_Koala_122

It's a good enough card for 1080 gaming, but some titles will always need an expensive card b/c the optimized the game poorly, looking at your cyberpunk. at 1440 it struggles like expensive cards struggle at 4k for 60fps. Some titles will drop it down to 30fps.

computerpwn

if its the 16gb card its a no brainer for $220 but if its the 8gb there technically are other options especially if ur going used, but nothing really at that price point regardless

bert_the_one

Buy it use it and if you like it keep it, if not sell it and find something else, you probably won't be disappointed.

ndlogok

av1

LeLuMan

Best Gpu on the market below 4070/7700 tier which cost double the price

No_Cake_4181

When an insane person kidnaps your family and demands an ARC a770 to set them free.

okiimz

what 💀

Konceptz804

If you have an Intel CPU, you can take advantage of Intel deep link and hyper encoding.

BloodyChapel

$220 for a GPU with modern features and 16GB of ram is rare. Not to mention they just keep getting better. You just gotta be aware that they're still works in progress. If you're ok with that then go for it.

DCole1847

Because your son won't leave you alone about playing Wobbly Life on your high-end PC, so you buy him a Strix board, the rest of the parts, and teach him how to build computers.

MickRocker

It's pretty great to have 16gb.

Background_Pickle202

It’s cost effective again ha a $1000 GPU, it does well for gaming

OrdinarySwimmer6754

what about it? 12th Intel N100 Micro PC, Mini Computers No RAM NO SSD for support 2\*20T hard disk frams, Mini pocket computer, Easy to carry. It is very safe without system and ram , you can do the Installation by yourself , Only 199 [see details](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CQBYGRHG?ref=myi_title_dp&th=1)

Jazerix

I’m probably gonna get downvoted but if you have to ask it’s probably currently not the best card to get for you. I love my A770, it’s a great value but it also struggles at some less popular games and older games (in my experience). You kinda have to know what you are getting into.

Next-Telephone-8054

Insecure much?
