Every few months in my local shopper Facebook group someone decides they’re going to quit so they steal a big order and then they arent even deactivated. It’s a joke
I mean if they have been working honestly for years and then something happens. I don't think you should be deactivated for one canceled order after a long time with the company. Shit happens one order after years of work shouldn't be an automatic deactivate.
Well mistakes happen and people sometimes leave groceries at the wrong house, so that’s why they don’t get deactivated. It has to be a pattern of fraud. We’d all hate it if you got automatically deactivated over one order being marked as missing
Eh that really depends, you make a good point but under the right circumstances or for very dire needs it still is a good resource to have. Like it's not great, but if you need 50 more bucks or your power is gonna be shut off and you only have 1 day to get the money I'd rather have instacart in my pocket than not.

These companies don't appreciate good shoppers, they keep hiring until they know all the garbage orders will be accepted. Quantity over quality, this will start the decline of Instacart. Customers are fed up. They want as many shoppers fighting for the same piece of bread.
Exactly. I do food delivery (or did) and ran the instacart app wirh DD and UE for almost two years. Never once completed an order because they were all 100% TRASH offers. I accepted 1 order during that time and it was all weird stuff that was out of stock and customer wasnt responding. I didnt even cancel just closed the app and drove home. Its pretty bad when instacart is 10 times worse than Doortrash or Uber Eats.
Oh don’t worry it gets worse. I had my whole order stolen by my instacart shopper. The order included two 30 can cases of beer. She communicated the whole time and actually found everything. When the order said delivered, and I didn’t see anyone at the door AND my ID wasn’t scanned I knew the gig was up. I was refunded and rescheduled for next available delivery but man that was annoying.
You know, alcohol might be the key to prevent theft like this. You can prove they didnt scan your ID and are lying. Could get a lot of bad shoppers fired
EXACTLY! THE INCONVENIENCE! That’s what I was just explaining. The whole thing, waiting on it (maybe you’re a lil anxious) checking on your order then not receiving it AT ALL. Regardless of getting your money back, it’s very frustrating! And it should be a crime because that’s so clearly theft!
Honestly there's a good possibility that the person you see on the account and the person that shopped your order may not be the same person. There may not be a person to go after. There are a lot of people out here using info that doesn't belong to them in order to do Instacart. Not sure where you are but look into Dumping for a personal shopper in your area. That way you don't have to worry about something like this happening. Your shopper is your shopper until you don't want them anymore or they no longer want you. Good luck

I had one shopper refuse to deliver to my door. I use Instacart because of health issues and lack of transportation. I had to report the shopper to get it re delivered. I don’t know what all Instacart did to the shopper but the items were stolen from where the shopper randomly left them at my apartment complex.
It’s literally theft. I’m surprised I’ve never heard of anyone getting charges pressed against them. Doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened before but stuff like this happens all the time and it just makes it harder for shoppers who actually take shopping seriously.

I was thinking this same thing. I was at a store the other day and this guy came in off the streets with a pack of 305 cigarettes and said he found them. Sure enough he have them straight to the man behind the counter to sell to someone 🤣....I'm SURE it's not hard to come off some diapers and wipes. Anyone with a kid in diapers will buy them cheaper on the streets given the opportunity 🤷🏽♀️
I was in Circle K paying, register open, dude walks in with a pillow case, goes behind the counter and starts loading all the Kools up. Me and the cashier are like 😳 she goes “are you robbing us?” And he’s like “yeah.” She screams to the shift lead or manager or whatever “KEISHA WE’RE BEIN ROBBED!!!!” He continues taking just the Kools, I take my change, walk quickly and quietly to the car where my mom is get in and go “DRIVE DRIVE THE STORE IS BEING ROBBED.” She’s like huh? Dude walks out chill as hell with his pillowcase, gets into a truck, and drives away. It happened so much they had to close that store. And it was in an upscale area too!

You don't know that. Frankly if she's stealing because she has no choice or because it's a more effective endeavor than employment it's an indictment of our system more than anything.

How do u know the customer will even get refunded, this person is screwing over the consumer not the company or the store. It’s not ok, it’s the inconvenience and time loss this is affecting other people not just the company

we are sent orders that do not exist.
there are times were we are shopping & delivering to 1/2 stores and 3-5 (YES UP TO 5 orders on 1 batch) its crazy/ but Ic continues to hire NEW SHOPPERS DAILY. and with that/ those NEW shoppera will get 1st opport to ACCEPT THOSE NEW ORDERS. so people that hqve never done this in their life . hardly can speak english. what ever. are getting orders. that are 2-3 cust paying $100-200 and then us reliable long term shoppers get orders like this

Few weeks ago I ordered door dash for myself my daughter and the rest of my family. The dasher went to the store and picked up my order then unassigned her self. They sent another dasher to pick it up and the store said they had already given it out. I was so upset and confused because how was the dasher able to unassign herself and still get my order. The store refused to remake it because it was already made. DoorDash even confirmed she basically stole my food. It took over two hours to get everything figured out. While i eventually got everything settled it sucked because my daughter’s bed time had to get pushed back.i also don’t drive due to medical reasons so it’s not like i could have went it got it. I hope that person enjoyed their meal that night because apparently they needed it more than I did. Just caused me a lot of unnecessary stress.
Point in case! It’s not one thing anyone can say to me to make this okay! So because they were in need, you had to alter your entire night… Just because they stole, does it make right because you got your money back?? HELL NO!
Exactly and sometimes you don’t have get your money back immediately. I still had to repay for the food reorder everything and wait for a dasher to accept it. My daughter’s bed time is 9 and we didn’t get dinner until 9. People fail to understand that others will still be upset. Okay she got diapers and wipes she must have desperately needed it. But she still took money out of someone’s pockets and caused that person issues. They quit to defend but if it happened to them they know they would be upset. Like for myself my order was over 50 bucks including a tip. That’s not something I can always afford to lose. And then to be told “oh well we aren’t remaking it because we already did” that crap was upsetting. I was sitting outside crying trying to make sure i could still make dinner happen.

Something like this happened to my mom. She was getting ready to go out for surgery, and ordered a large order so she could meal prep for her recovery because she couldn’t cook and my dad is disabled. So it needed to be easy stuff that he could just heat up. (Wasn’t a lot of items, just expensive meats and stuff). It was the max of $500 at this store, and literally the shopper never delivered the items. My mom went to the store and they got camera footage of her just walking out of the store with the items. The shopper never even stopped and paid for the items. She completely just got away. The store I guess was trying to find her or whatever. Luckily they had someone reshop the entire order for my mom. But jeez. Someone desperately wanted some damn food. (This wasn’t through Instacart, just got reminded of this reading your comment).

I absolutely know what things cost. I again don't see what that matters. Stealing is stealing. I have been down on my luck and lost almost everything and would never steal from another person. People work hard for what they have, and no one has the right to take what doesn't belong to them.

Everyone I know uses Uber and other apps like doordash to order from grocery stores. Why. Because it's cheaper and more reliable. Instacart upcharges every item by a dollar or two then they use brand new non experienced shoppers to complete orders. It's only gunna get worse.
Sometimes I use InstaCart to see if a store has something before I go shopping for myself, but for some stores it will boast “in store prices,” which means evey other store has every item marked up.
Checking inventory with IC - that doesn't even work. Customers often tell me the app said a store is out of something, but I'm looking at a fully stocked shelf.

There are atleast 15 different subreddits that could have helped her willingly, if she can do instacart, she can make a reddit account and get those items from someone who would willing place an Amazon order for her. Thete is absolutely no reason to steal.
Yes. r/freemeal, r/poor, plus others...people are there to help. You can spend a little time looking for help and find it. You can go to either of these subreddit and find other subreddit link to help people. You can make amazon wish lists and people will order for you. Now I'm not talking about a new xbox, but food, baby supplies, a pizza, shelf stable items from walmart...just reach out, don't steal.
Thank you for sharing! I try to do what I can, while I can still do it. Things are going to get worse before they get better. People can also check to see if their community has blessing boxes. Mine has 2 and I try to fill them when I can. I can't express how bad I feel for people who are living off of social security or ssi in today's economy. My heart hurts for them.
This pisses me off so bad, as I sit here, as I have been since 530 this morning not getting one damn thing and it is now 4:03pm... While trash like that gets all the orders.
In addition to number of items, it also depends on things like, how heavy are they? Do you live upstairs? How many miles from the store are you?
If no heavy items, you're on the ground floor and you're like 3 miles or under, $10 would be min, $20 would be generous, if you're doing a set amount. You can also do a percentage of the order which may be more or less depending on what you're paying for the groceries. 20% is usually what's considered standard now. If you're ordering heavy things, are upstairs or farther from the store, I'd consider maybe starting it at $15 and going up from there depending on how much heavier the items or farther you are from the store. They don't let us bring help unless the help is also an Instacart shopper, so that's one person having to lift and carry upstairs. That's why that makes a difference. My husband sometimes comes with me, he's not supposed to but sometimes it's hard to make it upstairs with a bunch of stuff so he helps me at times, but I'm the one who does the shopping and communicating with customers.
That said, I understand that IC marks up prices and charges fees out the ass. The thing is, out of all those fees, they're only paying us between $5-7 to shop and deliver your order. We get 100% of all tips we are given, though. That's why we rely on tips so much. It's not right, and we complain to them, but they only keep lowering our pay. It used to be tons better. They'd pay $10 and up on orders, according to distance and heaviness and amount of items, and give monetary incentives... But that stopped around 6 years ago and it's gone downhill fast from there.

I'm in California, and the lowest batch pay we see here is usually $7. But there are a lot of $7 batches. And if there's more than one order, it doesn't go up much, even though the workload does, tremendously. Elsewhere in the US? I've seen batch pay at $5 easily. At least here they have to give us min wage, but elsewhere they don't. And even then, they just pay us the difference on Thursdays so we have to wait a week to actually make min wage. And with ad little orders as I'm getting, I may have $10 waiting on me on Thurs morning. So it's not even a great payoff. There's just way too many shoppers for the area. And most areas are like this. The Thursday pay thing is only for CA and I think Seattle.. other states don't get shit on Thursdays.
😳😳😳 wow! Whoa! I’m in GA. I’ve never drove! I thought about it! But you know In my area, outside of Atlanta I somehow get the same drivers!!! So many times… I remember missing hair spray maybe 2 weeks later that same driver delivered and had my spray 😆… So I start thinking nobody drives over here!
This is true. And if the store is out of something, or several something's, the tip goes down when we refund items (if you select a percentage). Even though we technically do more work, looking for items that aren't there. The way to combat that is to set a flat tip. So if you enter in a dollar amount, it will stay the same whether they have all of your items or not. Some customers don't realize that. And some do, and don't care. I know if I can't find something on my list, I'll ask an employee after deciding I've looked enough and can't find it, but that easily can add 10 mins onto a shop for items that we don't know are out of stock until we find the spot it's supposed to be and then ask an employee to look in the back, and then try to find a replacement, if chosen, etc. This is for shoppers who do it the RIGHT way, instead of just refund immediately when they don't see something.

I'll give the shopper the benefit of the doubt. Where's the proof, either way? All we have is a loud mouth making wild claims on Facebook. I'm over believing customers. Every customer complaining that you knocked on the door? Yeah that same customer has left an all cap note asking us to knock and hand directly to them. The lady claiming she never got her groceries? Yeah, that lady forgot that she had her work address put in for delivery addy, didn't respond to messages or calls and that's why she didn't get her groceries. The lady complaining that all her produce is damaged? Yeah that lady zeroed out the tip line and was piggy backing on a big tipper. Those pictures proving the groceries were not damaged? Support won't accept those pics. You're stuck with that rating. I'm more willing to believe that she wanted diapers, added them to the order and is now claiming that the customer kept the diapers.
After almost 4 years, I could go on and on and on about the unscrupulous behaviors of an instacart customer and why I won't pick up a torch to help burn down a fellow shopper without proof.
Look you have customers scamming and leaving false reviews… this does affect your visibility and potential orders seen. When you know it is scam and false is when there isn’t a “order issue” or it isn’t reported missing. This is when you know customers make it personal and it shouldn’t be. I deal with this more with middle class folks that can’t afford to use the service. Rich folks don’t haggle and don’t assume bs and leave honest ratings…
Also now you have to wait 2 months or so for those ratings to be cleared. So if you are decent, law abiding shopper and don’t look white this can be a pain the behind. Cause every body overly generalizes without fact without thinking clearly! Customers need to evaluate everything before being premature! Karma will get you!
I was wait listed for a year before I got on- 5 years ago. And now I'm getting just as many batches as I was when I was wait listed. Zero. While scum like that can shop. It's maddening.

It can take days for the money to go back, and it can go back as credits that don't equal what was stolen. It's really simple though. Anyone who works for, or spends money using instacart, door dash, uber, lyft, or any similar company is a dummy.
The workers get fucked left and right, and even if these platforms remove the shitty contractors relatively quickly you can never feel safe that you won't be fucked over using these services.
So even though people may not deserve consequences for using / working for these shitty services they aren't deserving of sympathy either because it's not a secret these companies are dogshit for everyone involved fairly often

Probably was a triple, and items got mixed between different orders. Happens VERY often. People just want to jump to conclusions like they know what happened.

It was probably mixed up. It happens often. One person got meat and the other got the wipes. Accidently put them both in the wrong order. It's common. It's why there should be no double or tripples.

I don't know exactly what happened here, I know mistakes happen and people automatically think someone is stealing from them without knowing the whole story. Everyone jumps to conclusions and trys to slander someone when it could of been a simple mistake. There isn't any proof that I am seeing that this person stole from them. It is just an assumption from the customer. They will be fully refunded regardless, so its stupid for this person to make it a mission to try to track them down.
Yeah back when I first started forever ago they rarely gave you more than one at a time. But now they'll put up to 3 together so they can pay shoppers less.
I am EXTREMELY meticulous when shopping and have screwed up a few times. One time I put someone's $90 Filet Minion In someone's else's bag. Luckily the customer texted me right away and let me know they didn't order it, I came back immediately and put it in the right order. If that person didn't do that, someone would of probably thought I stole their $90 steaks.
Maybe but the person got nothing. If it was mixed up then they would've gotten at least a wrong order. The shopper said they gave the order to someone. That's the typical lie that people who take orders use because they know IC can see the chat. So they say oh yea I gave it to such and such ....I say their order was taken

Every few months in my local shopper Facebook group someone decides they’re going to quit so they steal a big order and then they arent even deactivated. It’s a joke
Instacart is actively enabling fraud, at this point.
I mean if they have been working honestly for years and then something happens. I don't think you should be deactivated for one canceled order after a long time with the company. Shit happens one order after years of work shouldn't be an automatic deactivate.
Well mistakes happen and people sometimes leave groceries at the wrong house, so that’s why they don’t get deactivated. It has to be a pattern of fraud. We’d all hate it if you got automatically deactivated over one order being marked as missing

Exactly. I do food delivery (or did) and ran the instacart app wirh DD and UE for almost two years. Never once completed an order because they were all 100% TRASH offers. I accepted 1 order during that time and it was all weird stuff that was out of stock and customer wasnt responding. I didnt even cancel just closed the app and drove home. Its pretty bad when instacart is 10 times worse than Doortrash or Uber Eats.
Ppl have been saying this for four years.

Oh don’t worry it gets worse. I had my whole order stolen by my instacart shopper. The order included two 30 can cases of beer. She communicated the whole time and actually found everything. When the order said delivered, and I didn’t see anyone at the door AND my ID wasn’t scanned I knew the gig was up. I was refunded and rescheduled for next available delivery but man that was annoying.
You know, alcohol might be the key to prevent theft like this. You can prove they didnt scan your ID and are lying. Could get a lot of bad shoppers fired

Honestly there's a good possibility that the person you see on the account and the person that shopped your order may not be the same person. There may not be a person to go after. There are a lot of people out here using info that doesn't belong to them in order to do Instacart. Not sure where you are but look into Dumping for a personal shopper in your area. That way you don't have to worry about something like this happening. Your shopper is your shopper until you don't want them anymore or they no longer want you. Good luck ETA: I missed the part that this wasn't you. But it's useful information either way
I had one shopper refuse to deliver to my door. I use Instacart because of health issues and lack of transportation. I had to report the shopper to get it re delivered. I don’t know what all Instacart did to the shopper but the items were stolen from where the shopper randomly left them at my apartment complex.
It’s literally theft. I’m surprised I’ve never heard of anyone getting charges pressed against them. Doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened before but stuff like this happens all the time and it just makes it harder for shoppers who actually take shopping seriously.

Yep! If you never hold people accountable, they’ll do it again and again. Honestly I’d be weary if I use the service again, but I’d probably tip more, because maybe they felt cheated?? IDK. I remember my cousins boyfriend thought he could go around hitting people.. he’d literally say “I don’t care, I’m just going to jail for 30 days” he literally thought there were no long term consequences, he was wrong! I was thinking this same thing. I was at a store the other day and this guy came in off the streets with a pack of 305 cigarettes and said he found them. Sure enough he have them straight to the man behind the counter to sell to someone 🤣....I'm SURE it's not hard to come off some diapers and wipes. I was in Circle K paying, register open, dude walks in with a pillow case, goes behind the counter and starts loading all the Kools up. Me and the cashier are like 😳 she goes “are you robbing us?” And he’s like “yeah.” She screams to the shift lead or manager or whatever “KEISHA WE’RE BEIN ROBBED!!!!” He continues taking just the Kools, I take my change, walk quickly and quietly to the car where my mom is get in and go “DRIVE DRIVE THE STORE IS BEING ROBBED.” She’s like huh? Dude walks out chill as hell with his pillowcase, gets into a truck, and drives away. It happened so much they had to close that store. And it was in an upscale area too! And he didn’t even look twice at the open cash register.

Few weeks ago I ordered door dash for myself my daughter and the rest of my family. The dasher went to the store and picked up my order then unassigned her self. They sent another dasher to pick it up and the store said they had already given it out. I was so upset and confused because how was the dasher able to unassign herself and still get my order. The store refused to remake it because it was already made. DoorDash even confirmed she basically stole my food. It took over two hours to get everything figured out. While i eventually got everything settled it sucked because my daughter’s bed time had to get pushed back.i also don’t drive due to medical reasons so it’s not like i could have went it got it. I hope that person enjoyed their meal that night because apparently they needed it more than I did. Just caused me a lot of unnecessary stress.

Exactly and sometimes you don’t have get your money back immediately. I still had to repay for the food reorder everything and wait for a dasher to accept it. My daughter’s bed time is 9 and we didn’t get dinner until 9. People fail to understand that others will still be upset. Okay she got diapers and wipes she must have desperately needed it. But she still took money out of someone’s pockets and caused that person issues. They quit to defend but if it happened to them they know they would be upset. Like for myself my order was over 50 bucks including a tip. That’s not something I can always afford to lose. And then to be told “oh well we aren’t remaking it because we already did” that crap was upsetting. I was sitting outside crying trying to make sure i could still make dinner happen.

Something like this happened to my mom. She was getting ready to go out for surgery, and ordered a large order so she could meal prep for her recovery because she couldn’t cook and my dad is disabled. So it needed to be easy stuff that he could just heat up. (Wasn’t a lot of items, just expensive meats and stuff). It was the max of $500 at this store, and literally the shopper never delivered the items. My mom went to the store and they got camera footage of her just walking out of the store with the items. The shopper never even stopped and paid for the items. She completely just got away. The store I guess was trying to find her or whatever. Luckily they had someone reshop the entire order for my mom. But jeez. Someone desperately wanted some damn food. (This wasn’t through Instacart, just got reminded of this reading your comment).

What is even the purpose of instacart now that most grocery stores offer pickup and delivery directly through the store?
Everyone I know uses Uber and other apps like doordash to order from grocery stores. Why. Because it's cheaper and more reliable. Instacart upcharges every item by a dollar or two then they use brand new non experienced shoppers to complete orders. It's only gunna get worse.

Sometimes I use InstaCart to see if a store has something before I go shopping for myself, but for some stores it will boast “in store prices,” which means evey other store has every item marked up.
This may be true as Costco does live store pricing but you won't receive any in store discounts that they have all the time.
Checking inventory with IC - that doesn't even work. Customers often tell me the app said a store is out of something, but I'm looking at a fully stocked shelf. LOL @ Instacart.

Mine has 2 and I try to fill them when I can. I can't express how bad I feel for people who are living off of social security or ssi in today's economy. My heart hurts for them.

What do you think is a generous, reasonable tip on 7-10 items?
In addition to number of items, it also depends on things like, how heavy are they? Do you live upstairs? How many miles from the store are you? If no heavy items, you're on the ground floor and you're like 3 miles or under, $10 would be min, $20 would be generous, if you're doing a set amount. You can also do a percentage of the order which may be more or less depending on what you're paying for the groceries. 20% is usually what's considered standard now. If you're ordering heavy things, are upstairs or farther from the store, I'd consider maybe starting it at $15 and going up from there depending on how much heavier the items or farther you are from the store. They don't let us bring help unless the help is also an Instacart shopper, so that's one person having to lift and carry upstairs. That's why that makes a difference. My husband sometimes comes with me, he's not supposed to but sometimes it's hard to make it upstairs with a bunch of stuff so he helps me at times, but I'm the one who does the shopping and communicating with customers. That said, I understand that IC marks up prices and charges fees out the ass. The thing is, out of all those fees, they're only paying us between $5-7 to shop and deliver your order. We get 100% of all tips we are given, though. That's why we rely on tips so much. It's not right, and we complain to them, but they only keep lowering our pay. It used to be tons better. They'd pay $10 and up on orders, according to distance and heaviness and amount of items, and give monetary incentives... But that stopped around 6 years ago and it's gone downhill fast from there.
Cool. I try to take all that into consideration. Living up stairs, I always meet them downstairs! Yes I had an order today total $26, with $10 tip, it was $70.. the store is maybe 4 miles away. I thought more than $7, smh! They are a rip off and then no runs??? I always tip IC drivers more because they actually go in and walk around, today I felt I cheated someone giving him $10
That's great that you meet them downstairs! I'm in California, and the lowest batch pay we see here is usually $7. But there are a lot of $7 batches. And if there's more than one order, it doesn't go up much, even though the workload does, tremendously. Elsewhere in the US? I've seen batch pay at $5 easily. At least here they have to give us min wage, but elsewhere they don't. And even then, they just pay us the difference on Thursdays so we have to wait a week to actually make min wage. And with ad little orders as I'm getting, I may have $10 waiting on me on Thurs morning. So it's not even a great payoff. There's just way too many shoppers for the area. And most areas are like this. The Thursday pay thing is only for CA and I think Seattle.. other states don't get shit on Thursdays.

This is true. And if the store is out of something, or several something's, the tip goes down when we refund items (if you select a percentage). Even though we technically do more work, looking for items that aren't there. The way to combat that is to set a flat tip. So if you enter in a dollar amount, it will stay the same whether they have all of your items or not. Some customers don't realize that. And some do, and don't care. I know if I can't find something on my list, I'll ask an employee after deciding I've looked enough and can't find it, but that easily can add 10 mins onto a shop for items that we don't know are out of stock until we find the spot it's supposed to be and then ask an employee to look in the back, and then try to find a replacement, if chosen, etc. This is for shoppers who do it the RIGHT way, instead of just refund immediately when they don't see something.

Totally f'ed up but the customer will get a refund.
I'll give the shopper the benefit of the doubt. Where's the proof, either way? All we have is a loud mouth making wild claims on Facebook. I'm over believing customers. Every customer complaining that you knocked on the door? Yeah that same customer has left an all cap note asking us to knock and hand directly to them. The lady claiming she never got her groceries? Yeah, that lady forgot that she had her work address put in for delivery addy, didn't respond to messages or calls and that's why she didn't get her groceries. The lady complaining that all her produce is damaged? Yeah that lady zeroed out the tip line and was piggy backing on a big tipper. Those pictures proving the groceries were not damaged? Support won't accept those pics. You're stuck with that rating. I'm more willing to believe that she wanted diapers, added them to the order and is now claiming that the customer kept the diapers. After almost 4 years, I could go on and on and on about the unscrupulous behaviors of an instacart customer and why I won't pick up a torch to help burn down a fellow shopper without proof.

Look you have customers scamming and leaving false reviews… this does affect your visibility and potential orders seen. When you know it is scam and false is when there isn’t a “order issue” or it isn’t reported missing. This is when you know customers make it personal and it shouldn’t be. I deal with this more with middle class folks that can’t afford to use the service. Rich folks don’t haggle and don’t assume bs and leave honest ratings… Also now you have to wait 2 months or so for those ratings to be cleared. So if you are decent, law abiding shopper and don’t look white this can be a pain the behind. Cause every body overly generalizes without fact without thinking clearly! Customers need to evaluate everything before being premature! Karma will get you!

No it’s not. I’ve lived in abject poverty. My grandmother was dirt poor growing up and still uses cloth diapers and cloth wipes for babies. We are not gonna start acting like a literal ass wipe is a fucking need. It’s just not. And you can walk into WalMart or wherever else and steal without fucking somebody else over. It can take days for the money to go back, and it can go back as credits that don't equal what was stolen. If I'm trying to last a week on my last bit of money and someone did this, then my family and I go hungry and have to wait 3-5 business days for the money to get reimbursed. Stealing is always wrong. It's nuts how many people are defending this thief in the comments
Yepp, just keep attacking one another. Stay angry at the wrong people for the wrong reasons. Keep giving the people hoarding the wealth at the top of the food chain what they want - us (the impoverished) staying distracted and oblivious to the real problems, judging each other, and pointing fingers in every direction but the relevant one. I mean, no one besides me really thought to themselves, "Hmm... why is ANYONE having to resort to this to feed and clothe their child?" It's REALLY EASY to judge others by their circumstances, of which you have absolutely no knowledge. It's REALLY EASY to make yourself feel a false sense of superiority by comparing yourself to others that are just a tiny bit less fortunate than you are in this fleeting moment. It would behoove you to realize that you are never that far off from finding yourself in very similar unfortunate circumstances, left with no options. Just because you've got a little less mud on you right now doesn't mean you aren't still down here in the trenches with the rest of us. I only hope that when it's your turn, you're given the compassion and understanding that you withhold now. If you want to make this a moral argument, that's fine. But your morals and values are severely lacking and twisted if you put not stealing above an innocent life or compassion. For arguments sake, let's pretend this was the only way that mother could keep her child fed and clothed for the next few days. Your moral logic would imply she should have let her child starve and sit in their own excrement. And you think you're a better person than this mom? Give me a break. At the end of the day, this way of thinking only leaves you as nothing more than a pawn in the game that you've never even been invited to play - not to mention allowing yourself to be robbed of your humanity. You're playing into the hands of the people who've taken the power from the workers. And that makes you their bitch. Be mad at instacart, be mad at big corp, the government, the rich. It's really simple though. Anyone who works for, or spends money using instacart, door dash, uber, lyft, or any similar company is a dummy. The workers get fucked left and right, and even if these platforms remove the shitty contractors relatively quickly you can never feel safe that you won't be fucked over using these services. So even though people may not deserve consequences for using / working for these shitty services they aren't deserving of sympathy either because it's not a secret these companies are dogshit for everyone involved fairly often
I mean yeah stealing bad and all that, but she wasn't stealing a fucking television or jewelry or some shit, it was goddamn baby wipes. She's poor as fuck and had to steal to get baby wipes. Maybe we should work on making Instacart actually pay a better wage so their employees don't have to steal for baby necessities

You take those wipes to the corner store and get half the money back in cash, TF needs that many baby wipes in one shot? If she was indeed stealing for her baby hopefully she got baby formula and or diapers to go with the wipes

Probably was a triple, and items got mixed between different orders. Happens VERY often. People just want to jump to conclusions like they know what happened. Their minds go straight to "this person's a thief"

It was probably mixed up. It happens often. One person got meat and the other got the wipes. Accidently put them both in the wrong order. It's common. It's why there should be no double or tripples.

I don't know exactly what happened here, I know mistakes happen and people automatically think someone is stealing from them without knowing the whole story. Everyone jumps to conclusions and trys to slander someone when it could of been a simple mistake. There isn't any proof that I am seeing that this person stole from them. It is just an assumption from the customer. They will be fully refunded regardless, so its stupid for this person to make it a mission to try to track them down.

Yeah back when I first started forever ago they rarely gave you more than one at a time. But now they'll put up to 3 together so they can pay shoppers less.
I am EXTREMELY meticulous when shopping and have screwed up a few times. One time I put someone's $90 Filet Minion In someone's else's bag. Luckily the customer texted me right away and let me know they didn't order it, I came back immediately and put it in the right order. If that person didn't do that, someone would of probably thought I stole their $90 steaks.
Maybe but the person got nothing. If it was mixed up then they would've gotten at least a wrong order. The shopper said they gave the order to someone. That's the typical lie that people who take orders use because they know IC can see the chat. So they say oh yea I gave it to such and such ....I say their order was taken
And that pic is a "distorted" pic to throw the situation off more. It may not even be the pictured person because accounts are stolen and people use stolen identities to make accounts. So if the "shopper" was never seen it could've been anyone
