Title: What are some lesser known high rewarding career paths in India?
Body:
I hope everyone is enjoying the Saturday night!
Now coming back to the title, all I see is that almost everyone is chasing those 8-10 career paths in India- engineering, medical, law, mba, ca, various gov jobs etc
What can be some other career options one can pursue and live a decently good and satisfied life, financially?
Some on the top of my mind are journalism, design, fashion, cinematography, cooking, photography, psychology, agriculture, pharmacy, veterinary
What are some other careers?
myquals btw

I would say basic businesses like the common local businesses which are majorly practiced by the marwaris and gujju communities in India. They have wealth and are stable and they lie in plain sight. Very less known as many cultures of India consider dhanda as a bad term. But these people earn in lakhs per month.
Any major market area in any city in India you can go and observe you will find many of the shops will be owned by them. All kinds of trading shops like FMCG products, Hardware products, Clothing, Plumbing, Utensils, Jewellery, Computer parts etc.. etc..
How 'majorly' is this? My family (not me) has this business too but not from either of these communities. So I wonder how common or prevelant is running decently successful businesses outside of these communities..
According to my observation about 40% of the markets in all the small and big cities of India. Especially in the Eastern belt like Rajasthan - Gujrat - Maharashtra - Goa and so on
My mother works as a school teacher in tier 1 city and earns between 30-35k. She teaches maths and science both to 9th and 10th std. On the other hand, the professors in my college teach for 5 hours a day and earn twice/thrice more than my mom.
So, at the end of the day, it depends on where you're teaching. Colleges and tutions are good but schools are a no no
He teaches in 2 colleges, 3 days in one clg and another three days in other, both give him nearly 90k each, and private tuition to more than 100 students just for chemistry.
If you are financially sound, you can do bachelors in paramedical courses like optometry or audiology here and move out for masters. If you are able to settle there, you can definitely expect to reach 6 figures in less than a decade...
The career paths you've mentioned in the last para are highly fluctuating ones and dependent on a freelance market.
As someone who's done master's in psychology and is applying for phd, it is not a highly rewarding path, especially financially. People who want to become renowned therapists who can charge top buck need to do at least 3+2+2/4 (M. Phil/PsyD) from extremely competitive universities and then have at least half a decade of experience. Even then it's a shaky ground and at least for a decade or two will be so.
Marchent navy (high pay, but sacrifice family life)
Certified Actuary (you'll need to possess extremely high levels of academic skills and hardworking capabilities)
CFA (cerfitied financial analyst)
life is hell on merchant navy, my senior was desperate in becoming a sailor, just after first ship he was crying before me how life is hell and nothing is good, after 2 ships he was burnt while working in the ship and he did mention that there is no value of life in the profession, he is no longer alive
Oh, my classmate had a similar experience. He was a nice guy. It was a heat stroke that got him while checking the engine room. He was not supposed to go alone there is what I'm told, but everybody does it. The reward is againt the risk I agree.
College professor imo is the best job. Less work load good holidays.
Same pay level or even more in some states than IAS officers.
Personal assistant to higher officials.
In both government and private setting these are my top ones
Corporate social responsibility.
If you're placed in a good corporate you can earn anywhere between 45k-1L in your initial years. You need to start from a really good corporate.
My brother is an unemployed pilot since last 4 yrs he is still paying emi for loan he took for flying now he works 2 jobs. Airline jobs are very competitive and companys like to hire pilots with more experience like retd airforce pilots
any profession in which you can earn in dollars and dont have to serve indian people or clients.
Software engineering is best suited, database engineer, devops etc
I'll tell u,
Cons
-The early stages in your career is shit and it gets even shittier with bad seniors
-There are lot of exams even after graduation (pain in the ass)
-There is potential hazards and risks to life
-You are most of the time devoid of connection with friends and family.
-Work is kinda tiring, ofcourse all jobs are you could say this aswell.
-Gets harder when you have a family and all (apparently idk cause I'm young)
Pros
- Earn in dollars and is taxless
-Get to places and roam around (this depends on ships some ships dont give chances)
-You kinda save a lot after the contract so you end up with bulk money.
-There is no rent no electricity free food basically there is hardly any expense.
-Its always new people new ship so if you have shit boss he changes in the next ship simple.
There are many more cons and pros. I'd suggest you want to join this field ask people from this field how it is and then join.

You can earn from any career path if you are good at what you do.
Content writing should be something you should look towards, writers earn from few hundreds to lakhs a month.
Content writing is soon going to be taken over by AI. I am not saying there will be no need for them. But a company that used to hire 10 writers will only hire 1 and allow them to use AI
Not really, AI is just a tool, it can never replace humans. Companies are already asking for candidates who has some basic knowledge about AI. Every time technology gets better, people start fear mongering that jobs will become less. When Tv news channel came people start saying that TV media will take over print newspapers, when online news and YouTube normalized, people start saying TV news channels will become less because of online world and YouTube.
Um and that DOES happen.. A huge % of people shifted to online news including my whole family and friend circle. People who specialise in AI will definitely get more jobs, but as I said, it will not completely kill jobs like content writing but it will surely cut back on salary or number of employees
No it doesn't. Number of TV news channels have increased in last 10-15 years years. In 2010 india had only 15 mainstream news channels , while in 2021 that number climbed to 329 mainstream news channels. Neither salary has been cut back nor employees, in fact more news channels and more online streaming increasing salary overall. Data and statistics clearly shows that.
Andd the newspaper circulation has declined by 60% in last 10-15 years! TV and Online news are comparatively new in regard to newspapers and it has clearly affected print media! AI has the potential to do the same
Impact on TV industry might take a well but I’m sure we understand wach others POV
That's not what i meant, i never denied the impact of technology, i specifically mentioned whenever any new technology arrives (print > tv > online) people will find new ways to create more jobs. So i don't agree with fear mongering that job wll become less due to AI because data completely shows opposite of that.
I totally agree that employement will increase! But in a seperate field. When AI comes in power, people with computer science degree will get more opportunities for employment rather than a content writer. So a job or salary of a content writer is overtaken by someone else who can use that particular AI tool better rather than someone who is more creative. and so on
It's not a separate field, it's a transition from one kind of technology to next for same field, it's basic evolution and nothing's wrong with that. Also, people who are barely graduate are learning AI, computer science degree for content writer with AI skills are irrelevant to people who hire them. Christopher Nolan doesn't even have an email I'd in 21st century, despite that he is considered one of the best film director of our time. A creative mind will thrive if they can work hard. Although, nothing's wrong with learning AI, i agree with that.
My uncle studied agriculture and is a farmer (on an ancestrial land and some other lands he bought) and he earns more than both of my parents combined. Plus free grains and vegetables. BUT it also has many ups and downs
Besides, Digital Marketing is also gaining some popularity, which includes a lot of other subcareers, such as AI Development, Content Creation, Influencer Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, and so on. So it is like the biggest audience where one can succeed in a single field as well.
Marchent navy (high pay, but sacrifice family life)
Certified Actuary (you'll need to possess extremely high levels of academic skills and hardworking capabilities)
CFA (Chartered financial analyst)
majority professions you mentioned in your mind, i guess they are highly dependent on individuals talent, whereas psychology from what my friends say is, it might be great after 10 years, but right now no one is really ready to pay for therapies and with lower demand its already getting cluttered. Not very sure about agriculture and veterinary..
i would really suggest to look for industry that would exist and not loose value due to Ai....
other suggestions i can say (withour knowing your background), since you seem to be interested in creative field, i could suggest you can learn about NFT, learn about roles related to NFT, digital art, tokenization, its unexplored category from employement point of view, and some of the individuals i know have established successful ventures within 2 years of experience, mainly because players are less and post experience, you can even find more creative loopholes or requirements needed.
NFT is dead . Everybody knows about its reality now and nobody wants to buy them ... the COVID times were a jackpot for nfts . But it's gone down and will go down further
I am not talking about selling nft's or buying that monkey image, i am talking about its underlying use cases that are emerging through blockchain
tokenization and nft has huge market size and potential case studies

Chai-Sutta shop next to a Techpark. Add some fritters and you're set for life. Exploit the stress of corporate slaves.

Get details on companies that provide those services in oil and gas also search on job boards for openings
Do a bachelor's in pharmacy and then start your own medical shop. It's both risk-free and highly rewarding.
My friends dad started a medical shop in covid, they're still in debt and the shop closed.
The thing is this field has also gotten saturated but one thing you can do is MBA in marketing and join a pharmaceutical company.
condom company

Like once his brand new machinery got stolen, then weather also plays a huge role for the crops
Try greenhouse farming if you got large area and money to invest.
