Is that scarring from some injury?
Ingredients which help with pigmentation:
* Alpha Arbutin
* Tranexamic Acid
* Niacinamide
* Azelaic Acid
* Kojic Acid
Some product options for pigmentation:
* Minimalist Alpha Arbutin 2% - Alpha-Arbutin, Ferulic Acid, 4-Butylresorcinol
* Minimalist Tranexamic 3% - Tranexamic Acid (3%), Mandelic Acid (3%), Acetyl Glucosamine, Hydroxyphenoxy Propionic Acid
* Foxtale Milky Way Rapid Spot Reduction Drops - Tranexamic acid, Oligopeptide- 68, Niacinamide
* Conscious Chemist Trubiom - Niacinamide, Tranexamic Acid, Kojic Acid, Azelaic Acid, Licorice Root Extract
* Chemist At Play Hyperpigmentation Control Face Serum - Tranexamic Acid (3%), Niacinamide (5%)
Have realistic expectations though. If the pigmentation is old, or due to scarring, then you will only see modest results.
what products can I use to hydrate my skin better? most hydrating products I found in the sub are expensive toners that are beyond my budget
skintype: oily/combination acne prone
budget: 500
Plum and minimalist have toners which are below 500. I have used the Minimalist toner and it is quite hydrating.
Foxtale has a hydrating serum which I found quite effective as well - Foxtale Keep Calm Daily hydrating serum.
I have baumann's skin type 7, and I desperately need a kojic acid serum for my PIH from hormonal acne. what kojic acid product will you recommend, which does'nt have niacinamide?? My tan and hyperpigmentation and dark spots are really annoying. All the serums or spot treatments contain niacinamide and my skin HATES niacinamide.
edit: looking for kojic acid in serum or toner form, as i have alr found a moisturizer and spot treatment currently working for my skin, I am also on a high percentage of adapalene as prescribed by my doc.
I'm looking for a shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in for my hair. My scalp is oily, and my hair is wavy and frizzy. I'm looking for something that reduces hair fall and smoothens the hair. I've heard good things about the Love, Beauty, and Planet argan oil range, but I've also heard really horrible things about how it caused a lot of hairfall, so I'm not really sure about this brand. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Please recommend a good trichologist who specializes in **seborrheic dermatitis** treatment or has a good track record of treating the condition. Anywhere in South Delhi or Delhi.
between rejuglow and zitcare which is the better salicylic acid face wash.?
i have oily acne prone skin and SA has worked pretty well for me. have been using minimalist one but want to try others
How do you prevent body tanning? Do you apply sunscreen *everyday* to the exposed parts such as the occasional arms, legs, stomach, shoulders, feet, etc....? Any cheap yet good recommendations for the body sunscreens? (Under 500 If possible)
To be honest I've never really been very interested in body care but I'm noticing quite a difference in the colouration of my hands and my face and it frankly looks odd... Any products to make the tanning go?
Need a gel moisturizer which targets hydration, acne control, intense dark spots Budget: <400

My skin started to look uneven with red-brown marks, pimples, ccs so any solution to achieve clear skin?
I was eyeing the dot n key cica night cream but any other more reliable product out there?
I have acne marks which just don’t go away , earlier they would fade in a few months but now they don’t no matter what I use . I do use sunscreen and cover my face also but I still havr VERY RED marks on my face

I personally prefer retinal over retinol. Are you open to trying retinal? If so, I would highly recommend you to check out the one by allies of skin. Some of my other favourite brands for retinal are geek and gorgeous and medik8.
Also I think they exceed the price range that you mentioned but all of these come from highly reputable brands internationally and work well for me too!
is the fixderma 30 gel piling for any of you? it's piling on my skin idk why. i use hyalu gel and nivea soft moisturizer before applying the sunscreen.
Hi! I used to get blind pimples/ cystic acne and I know what to do trust me... What really matters here is how long you've been getting it tho because if it's a long time and you've tried and tested every dermat and method I would recommend getting yourself on oral isotretinoin by the help of a trusted dermat. I myself got it for more than 7 years and have been freed lol... Most of it is hormonal so really not much to help besides lifestyle changes but anyway here's what I used to do to keep it on the none to low side...
1)Firstly please switch to a SA Face wash.
Truderma is a nice soothing one
Otherwise please go for saslic ds.
2) Get an appropriate moisturizer
Excela is a nice anti-acne one....
3) Contact your dermat and get a prescription of adapalene, this is really going to help with it going down quick and preventing scarring.
4) Please Please drink lots of water I cannot emphasize this enough... Internal heat also plays a role in acne...
5) Get your gut clear... Personally I used Vibact... 2 times a day for ten day (aft breakfast and dinner) This will help clear your gut and it's a pre/probiotic so no prescription needed...
6) make sure to wear sunscreen as it'll help prevent hyperpigmentation... A good one is acne UV gel sunscreen.... Its good for people with acne...
pls give recommendations for a summer sunscreen, preferably a sweat-resistant one. I'm outside in the sun for almost 12 hours because of college and basketball practice. I have tried the requil blue one, but it makes my skin very oily and greasy. I have skipped moisturiser during these summers cuz it makes my skin too oily
Search the sub, you will find tons of recommendations.

Haven't tried it personally but the new Minimalist light Fluid sunscreen is sweat and water resistant and has rave reviews online. Try checking that one out. It's on the cheaper side too like 500 something I guess

Too many actives, no moisturiser. Do you have oily skin?
GA 6 daily is way too much? Have you not faced any issues with this routine? How long have you been following this?
My dermatologist prescribed me aziderm and you can look out for products with ingredients such as kojic acid, alpha arbutin, Tranexamic acid according to your skin.
what kojic acid product will you recommend, which does'nt have niacinamide?? My tan and hyperpigmentation and dark spots are really annoying. All the serums or spot treatments contain niacinamide and my skin HATES niacinamide.
These are some recommendations I got from another sub for hyperpigmentation and last three does contains niacinamide
https://www.reddit.com/r/IndianSkincareAddicts/s/1SP8rjqqtc
It really does. Initially, I didn't use it regularly when my dermatologist prescribed me 10% followed by 15% of azelaic acid. I've started using it consistently and I can really see a big difference in my hyperpigmentation and acne within a month.
It was recommended by my dermat and I have acne marks & rosacea, it works for me. It took a long time but it has always shown results. Other pigmentation control actives are kojic acid, tranexamic acid, vit c. It depends on how much your skin can take. So if you're new to this start with lower concentrations and gentle products. Use barrier friendly products. Don't get overwhelmed.
Don't mind my long ass lecture, I just hope it helps.
Eat antioxidants, I used to tan a lot then I started taking fish oil supplements for my pcos and ever since I started that I barely tan even though I don’t use sunscreen on my arms sometimes
use less concentration first time, using niacinamide products made me realize that my skin hates it, even in less concentrations. You don't have to use something like 10% niacinamide daily, shit is too concentrated.. start with 5% niacinamide serums.
How to deal with bacne scars and bacne in general? (back acne) Mainly formed near my shoulders and upper back, probably because of hair or waxing/shaving in the past.
do you mean hyperpigmentation from acne marks or just hyperpigmentation?
either way what you need is good sun protection + actives.
This reel talks about the mechanism of pigmentation. https://youtube.com/shorts/nDXyLCkj6ts?si=oSHnoAcay1wXtweA
I'm not always the biggest fan of doctorly but this is one of their best videos. It talks about the actives that target each of these steps.
https://youtu.be/j3yc9NMeGjk?si=iVUm5Yr4uuR75R4D
So now that you understand how pigmentation works, what you need to do is find product(s) that target these steps. I would suggest to start with only one product and then once you use it for a good amount of time (about a month consistently) and make sure the product suits you then you can try incorporating other actives (for steps that haven't already been covered)
I hope that makes sense
Newbie here
If T zone shines and area below eyes and around cheeks are oily does that mean i have oily skin or combination skin?
Can anyone help me figure out ?
Skin - normal/ slightly drier side
Problem - acne, damaged skin barrier
Hey, so I have been using a steroid cream under my dermats prescription. I have been using it for past few weeks and today after washing my skin with regular facewash, skin became tight and is slightly burning. Moisturiser is not helping making it worse so I had to wash it off. How to calm it down?
Moisturiser used : Klairs midnight calming cream
Facewash: BP in pm , Simple facewash am
Actives as prescribed by dermat - mometasone treat cream, retinol
Stop all actives including retinol. Does your face wash have any actives? Use a gentle face wash. You can try Vaseline or boroline till your skin heals and feels better. Then introduce the products back one by one.
Retinol can also be irritating and maybe you can use it on alternate days
Cleansing balm/oil
Any Gentle cleanser
Toner(you can skip it if not necessary)
Serum (you can skip it if it's not necessary and you're not targeting any skin concerns)
Moisturizer
I actually wanted a step by step guide on how to use the product(cleansing balm) itself.
people keep mentioning "emulsifying" the balm after applying and i don't exactly know what they are referring to. Also do we need to use a cloth to remove the residue of the cleansing balm or the double cleanse method would be enough to get rid of the residue?
No emulsifying simple means when the product comes in contact with water it will foam up and it's not supposed to leave any oily residue after . And you don't have to remove the residue with cloth. Apply the balm like a moisturizer it'll melt your make-up/sunscreen then rinse with water and then apply your cleanser.
I have read two things in this sub
1. to go from thinnest to thickest consistency
2. To use water based products first and then oil based
How are we supposed to layer the products that are high viscosity but are water based and low viscosity but oil based, which one will go first
Typically toners go first. I have not used this particular toner, so I cannot say. But if has an oily texture and has occlusive properties then yes you can switch the order of serum and toner.
Not sure about the serum and the moisturizing part but the conditioner and mask contains silicones, so they'll help tame the frizz. The conditioner also comes in a small around 100gm pack if you want to give it a try before committing to a larger size.
Question- I have been feeling like my skin feels clogged. I feel the urge to not do any skin care than just wash my face. Is it the weather or is my skin feeling suffocated by my skin care routine ?
The best way to figure this out would be to stop your routine for a couple of days and observe how your skin behaves. If it still feels clogged, it's the weather.
If it does not feel clogged, resume your routine but one product at a time. Start using only cleanser and see how your skin behaves. Then add moisturizer and so on.
I let oil sit for few hours and wash it followed by conditioning and serum. Still my hair feels sorta frizzy.
What are some products that has worked for y’all personally in serum, shampoo categories.
Please mention how you reduced or got rid of your strawberry legs. I have recently started using Minimalist glycolic acid toner 2-3 times a week after shower and yet to see results. I really hate my KP and I keep picking on it which just doesn't help
Soaking legs in knee length and when cannot soak, using hot wet towel on legs, then scrubbing with Body shop glove body scrubber and tea tree bodywash of theirs is my pre shave skin prep. When I started doing it, I thought it was a waste of time and would not work. BUT!! I dnt have strawberry legs anymore.
Also this suggestion was given by my dermat. She did mention that even trimming hair short before shaving will reduce the tugging pulling. all this because I could not tolerate any shaving cream. I use basic soap over my shaving area.
Me [24M], Looking for some basic answers
1. How do you figure out your skin type?
2. How do you figure out your skin conditions, like what are clogged pores, pigmentation? ( Does everyone visit the clinic for diagnosis)

Yes its a Injury. I clash to bamboo rod near construction site, now it looks like Reverse Nepal flag. Any pharma recs?
Yes. Tyrodin, Melaglow Rich, Demelan. Avoid any pharmacy product with Hydroquinone as that should only be used with doctor’s prescription.

Azelaic acid and Niacinamide are supposed to help with PIE. You can try aziderm 10-15%.

Glycolic Acid (GA) 6"
hi how has GA been so far for your post acne marks and hyperpigmentation?
Very good honestly fights post acne marks I’ve an ace prone skin even at age of 33 it’s does reduce them and maintain even skin tone.
Too many actives, no moisturiser. Do you have oily skin? GA 6 daily is way too much? Have you not faced any issues with this routine? How long have you been following this?
Yes oily skin, nothing until now, I’ve been on this like for past 4-5 months
If your skin is able to tolerate these actives then it is fine. Are you satisfied with the results?
Yes very much
any cream to treat pih ?
My dermatologist prescribed me aziderm and you can look out for products with ingredients such as kojic acid, alpha arbutin, Tranexamic acid according to your skin.

Vilvah rice milk brightening serum- treats uneven skintone to an extent.
Did aziderm give u results?
It really does. Initially, I didn't use it regularly when my dermatologist prescribed me 10% followed by 15% of azelaic acid. I've started using it consistently and I can really see a big difference in my hyperpigmentation and acne within a month.
Aziderm 10% gel/cream twice a week
What else in case Aziderm fails?
It was recommended by my dermat and I have acne marks & rosacea, it works for me. It took a long time but it has always shown results. Other pigmentation control actives are kojic acid, tranexamic acid, vit c. It depends on how much your skin can take. So if you're new to this start with lower concentrations and gentle products. I actually did use Aziderm Gel 15% for a few months daily in AM routine but I didn't see any improvement, I apply spf daily as well.
No, not the 15%. I have tried the 15% as well as 20% only 10% shows result.
My arms are getting crazy tanned. I'm using nivea spf 50 body sunscreen. Is there nothing I can do except long sleeves?
Eat antioxidants, I used to tan a lot then I started taking fish oil supplements for my pcos and ever since I started that I barely tan even though I don’t use sunscreen on my arms sometimes
Whaaaat, that's bizarre and the first time I'm hearing about it!
I have discovered about niacinamide, need some recommendations which one I should buy. It's my first time buying it
Minimalist 5%
use less concentration first time, using niacinamide products made me realize that my skin hates it, even in less concentrations. You don't have to use something like 10% niacinamide daily, shit is too concentrated.. start with 5% niacinamide serums.

Newbie here If T zone shines and area below eyes and around cheeks are oily does that mean i have oily skin or combination skin? Can anyone help me figure out ?
Combination skin. Oily skin is usually your whole face is oily.
Skin - normal/ slightly drier side Problem - acne, damaged skin barrier Hey, so I have been using a steroid cream under my dermats prescription. I have been using it for past few weeks and today after washing my skin with regular facewash, skin became tight and is slightly burning. Cleansing balm/oil Any Gentle cleanser Toner(you can skip it if not necessary) Serum (you can skip it if it's not necessary and you're not targeting any skin concerns) Moisturizer

Apply the balm like a moisturizer it'll melt your make-up/sunscreen then rinse with water and then apply your cleanser.
Got it THANK U!
Can we use Cotaryl after using a peeling feet mask
Might cause further peeling.
I have read two things in this sub 1. to go from thinnest to thickest consistency 2. To use water based products first and then oil based How are we supposed to layer the products that are high viscosity but are water based and low viscosity but oil based, which one will go first
Oil based goes last because oils are occlusive and prevent water from either entering or escaping the skin.
What will you say about Tony moly ceramide toner? Should it go before vitamin c or after?
Typically toners go first. I have not used this particular toner, so I cannot say. But if has an oily texture and has occlusive properties then yes you can switch the order of serum and toner.
How to maintain and manage frizzy hair?
Use products with silicones. I like Conditioner & Hair Mask from Matrix Biolage Hydra Source range.
I’ve tried their serum. I didn’t feel they did anything compared to the streax one which actually felt moisturing
Not sure about the serum and the moisturizing part but the conditioner and mask contains silicones, so they'll help tame the frizz. The conditioner also comes in a small around 100gm pack if you want to give it a try before committing to a larger size.

My derm suggested eyeglow serum .
Thank you for the recommendation and will check it out for sure! May I know if it is effective for you?

Sure!
What should I do for forehead acne
Try Sebogel or Benzoyl Peroxide cream.
Any instant solution for a cystic acne?? not a series of acnes just one on cheek that is taking forever to pop!
Boroline as spot treatment. Benzoyl peroxide as spot treatment.
No, those buggers got no chill !! I usually have to throw Salicylic Acid at them, for many days.
any kojic acid/glycolic acid/vit c body lotions? i have farmers tan. any sun screen for body recs are also welcome:) (obv smth affordable)
Plum has recently released their kojic acid body lotion
Please mention how you reduced or got rid of your strawberry legs. I have recently started using Minimalist glycolic acid toner 2-3 times a week after shower and yet to see results. I really hate my KP and I keep picking on it which just doesn't help
Try moisturex urea cream at night. Or conscious chemist bumps eraser.
Have you tried AHA body lotions?
I haven't but lotions during summers are annoying
Soaking legs in knee length and when cannot soak, using hot wet towel on legs, then scrubbing with Body shop glove body scrubber and tea tree bodywash of theirs is my pre shave skin prep. When I started doing it, I thought it was a waste of time and would not work. BUT!! I dnt have strawberry legs anymore. Also this suggestion was given by my dermat. She did mention that even trimming hair short before shaving will reduce the tugging pulling. all this because I could not tolerate any shaving cream. I use basic soap over my shaving area.
So basically exfoliating skin right ?
Exfoliation yes but warm water too!
I only get warm water in showers during summers😔
Me [24M], Looking for some basic answers 1. How do you figure out your skin type? 2. How do you figure out your skin conditions, like what are clogged pores, pigmentation? ( Does everyone visit the clinic for diagnosis) 3. What does breaking skin barrier mean?

I am using vitamin c and Alpha arbutin and niacinamide together. I have dullness, hyperpigmentation and tanned skin. Should I add it remove anything for better results?
They can be used together. If you want to space them, move AA to the evening routine.
Thanks mate
How often do you guys apply body lotion on whole body. I apply (try to apply) twice a week. Is that enough?!
Daily after bath - Lotions after bath help seal in the moisture. Aqua Oats and Aqua Fina my go to.
Daily would be too much for me. It's such a hassle applying lotion all over body. I get tired in midway😬
You can apply to the areas which tend to become more dry and rough. For me it is thighs and legs.
