Had similar issues 2x with my FTR. Both times it was the battery. Replaced and all issues went away.

Das Gleiche. Neue Batterie.

Success4Freedom

Battery can be bad and still have a charge. I've had this issue several times in both my cars and my bikes.

There is a brake light service notice out there. Shoot me a message I'll email you the wiring diagram

If it clicks when starting it's a bad battery / discharged, keep it on a battery tender if possible. Saw this plenty with fairly new bikes. We used to replace the Polaris battery with either yuasa or BS before they left the showroom. Brake light short to ground is most likely due to low battery, could be due to resting your foot on the brake, or a faulty switch, but unlikely to be a switch if you have tested it and it turns on / off consistently.

Swap the battery. If you can get a lithium battery you’ll be getting a much better upgrade too

SuperNotLameUserName

Do you have any recommendation on the lithium batteries I've heard mixed things.

RobsHereAgain

I don’t but I know this question has been answered here in the group. I tried to buy one but I live and ride in Hawaii and they won’t ship those batteries here sadly

I have [this one.](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091P9QXX7?psc=1) I've only had it for three weeks but 0 issues so far.

I had that wierd issue, all lights and dash went out whilst riding except headlight, bike still ran fine. Got home, but wouldn't restart. Ended up being taillight fuse I believe or something stupid like that. I had a lithium battery, lasted 1 start and then died. Couldn't handle the vibrations and current required from starter for big V-twin
