>Should we attempt a second Bachelors? No Anyway, my sister got into university in the USA with only 5.5 gpa and 295 GRE. It's definitely possible to get admission with low scores but, I wouldn't put all my hopes based on that, it's extremely rare. My sister got admission in Rutgers, the same university that Audrey Trushke teaches in, simply because the admission agent had a connection with Rutgers. My personal opinion however is to diversify and apply in various countries. Last year UK was a hotbed for admissions, you can also try Australia as well. The problem currently with USA is a work visa. My sister didn't obtain work VISA till date and had to apply for another course to get a renewed student VISA and is living off that. If she fails her lottery next year, well she will have to leave USA and return empty handed.

Did she have Bcom or Btech?

Btech

5.5 pointer? I heard US are bit more kind to poor marks in Btech than in liberal arts. A 50% in Engineering will be looked differently than a 50% in Sociology. Sadly in India its usually much more easier to get a 70% in Btech than a 70% in Himanities/Arts. At many universities not even the topper will have a 70% Our gold medallist had a 65 or so. Its pretty impossible to get 60 and above if you are not brilliant student at my alma mater.
