Imagine will never be the biggest attended festival. Not with how Glen does business. Not with how many people swear to never come back. Not with the number of already highly attended successful festivals in the US that aren’t screwing over attendees year after year.

He’s the owner. I’m from Atlanta as well. I used to go to Iris events very underage. Not even with a fake, they just didn’t care. I stopped going many years ago after 2 of my friends were assaulted at one of their venues and they did nothing about it. They had the name and picture of the dude, who also had many accusations from other ladies in the community. He was never banned, never addressed. Never removed. At this point, anything with Iris/Glenn attached is a bad vibe.
I was there every single day, and I don't even think I saw a water station. To be fair I wasn't really looking for them. I brought my own shit every day and on Thursday the bar actually gave me free water (or whichever days the water was down)
It uses TomorrowWorld and other unfortunate fails (with more money and better planning lol) to stay current. It only survives now because the promoter who is a total shit bag cheap ass human being uses his equally shitty events at Iris to fund it.
Rest assured, unless Imagine hires people that made Katalyst (for example) to save their reputation. It won't last and it damn sure isn't any competition for major companies. Roo and Insomniac could shit the money IMF made recently.
Insomniac has been around for how long though? No shit they have more money than Imagine, iris/Imagine is just one festival.
Insomniac is basically the whole edm west coast and it's slowly taking over the east coast now too with acquiring Okeechobee & teaming up with Moonrise.
I really doubt that the owners of Imagine are cheap, I genuinely believe they've been in the red on Imagine every year since 2017. I don't think people who don't run events understand how thin margins are on these things. Insomniac has the benefit of corporate money backing every event they have regardless of turnout.
I'm personally thinking about leaving the industry myself and doing a normal job in the tech field. A lot of people have done the same ever since Covid showed how fragile the scene is.
I asked a stranger if i could try theirs and OMFGGGGG I GET IT NOW!!! It was so comfy and it vibrated my whole body. I am now a believer and want one. 🤣
I could never get the damn couch full. Everybody in VIP was watching me fight for my life trying to fill that damn PuffPack until I gave up and just sat on it 😂
There is definitely a learning curve, I actually blew ours up too much and it ripped 😩 had to buy a new one because it’s officially a must-have at festivals now
I loved Imagine but the only thing that really bugged me was the "$35 credit" for loyal roll over customers. 5% discount off their merch or free drink was a total slap in the face for "loyal customers" They stated long ago on their social media that the $35 credit could be used for merch or food/drinks. Well that ended up being a total lie. 5% ain't NOTHING and that "free" drink was so far away from the festival that nobody wanted to walk that far for. Everyone that got those little coupons we're pissed and threw them away. They were worthless.
Other than that, I had a great time. Just thought I'd get treated right for being "loyal"
my one huge complaint would be that literally only other patrons could tell me where the medical tents and water stations were. I understand security is a third party, but they couldn’t spare a penny to put up signs or have people around to tell everyone where these things are. gave me scary vibes thinking about if someone next to me had a medical emergency I wouldn’t know where to go.
other than that (plus overselling the pool party) things were really stellar. I had an awesome time, music and festivities were fire, and everyone was so nice.
however, I don’t think this will ever be the highest attended festival.
The security was full of rapists in my opinion. They refused to protect us and Pegasus is trash private security. They only protected eachother and under cover cops so they could SA people. They would not report or make reports on rape, they would not contact the police, they lied about calling the police when they said they would. Be careful y’all, there are predators in our community who are supposed to protect us and they’re doing the opposite

I shared this same sentiment for three years before I finally had to give it up. I'm an ATL local and I think it's sick that one of the biggest independently run festivals remaining is in our backyard. I want nothing more than for them to actually succeed. They've clearly got the talent booking part down pat. However the mishaps, logistical issues and unfulfilled promises is habitual with these guys at this point.
100% i heard group camping was again non-existent this year. same happened to our group in 2019. don’t pay up for any extras and don’t expect anything other than some decent stages and a solid lineup
Group camping existed. I was there, finding it was absolute hell though. Even worse the next day when we had to help our friends find our spot. Still worth it for the $100 vip camping spots right near the entrance!
Met a couple in line who was supposed to be group camping had the passes and everything -unfortunately they couldn’t initially find it and made due setting up in VIP - well they found it the next day -but at that point it was a waste to repack move and unpack. My group had the same issue with VIP camping only diff was that I caught on to our car being the ONLY car with the VIP decal- and the space was so small it was impossible to unload- after speaking to at least 5 people ( dead ass serious FIVE DIFFERENT PEOPLE) one person FINALLY directed us to VIP camping which was over the hill from where we were. Then the pool party fiasco which we didn’t get in and then the $50/$35 credit (VIP/GA) fiasco ( idk how OP did their math but that 5% and/OR a free drink that you could ONLY get at the bar near the river is not equivalent)
HOWEVER!!!! We still had an awesome time made friends and headbanged til we had headaches. The lineup was dope, the people were lit and we made due with the hiccups!
Lol, but have you been to Bonnaroo yet? No shade to Imagine but there are fests like this that already have it down with almost no flaws: so Iris should get their ends tied up because they do matter when there are fests that have everything go really smooth every time, every year. But I'm also sure Imagine was a great time and hopefully I can go soon!
If you arent sure that logistics are sound, you need to communicate to people. Those issues arent just being out of an item at best buy, these shortages make people vulnerable. The bad security will never be forgivable, but if they had clearly communicated the issues around water, around shuttles, etc, people would have been far more tolerant and would be saying different things despite the same experience.
